Abstract

Street children are accustomed to living on the streets, in terminals, and in public places, often experiencing emotional stress. Their personalities become harsh, rough, and less sensitive. The solution offered is art therapy -based expression painting training as a way to channel hidden dreams and psychological burdens. The activity targets 15 street children at the Indonesian Gold Foundation Shelter in Semarang. Implementers include lecturers with visual arts expertise and counselors to ensure a more comprehensive and thorough training and mentoring. The program includes material presentations and creative practice in three face-to-face sessions, each lasting 5–6 hours. The expression painting approach uses a cycle-based art therapy that integrates cognitive, psychomotor, and affective aspects. The creative practice in each cycle uses art therapy stages including warm-up, recalling event, emotional expression and issues, restitution, and termination. The training results showed an increase in street children's creativity in painting. The first cycle was marked by hesitation and stiff expressions, while the second cycle demonstrated courage and diverse expressions through color and form. Participants were able to express their emotions in a painting and were able to appreciate it. This evidence confirms that the participants' creativity, sensitivity, and courage increased. The painting training has been able to reduce the psychological burden of trauma they experienced. The outputs include accredited articles, video highlights, local media news, and copyrights.

Abstract

Traditional Javanese musical instruments such as gamelan are cultural heritage that has educational and aesthetic value. These instruments not only produce distinctive sounds, but also contain cultural meanings that are important to be introduced to children from an early age. However, nowadays children are more familiar with popular culture and the lack of visual learning media that introduces local culture in an interesting way causes a low interest in traditional musical instruments. The design of this illustration book aims to introduce traditional Central Javanese musical instruments to the children of preschool Ngesti Rahayu in Ungaran as a fun educational medium. This design uses a descriptive visual approach and an educational thematic. This book was developed through several stages of manual sketching, digitization, and layout. The work is in the form of a book measuring 20 x 20 cm with illustrations in the form of musical instruments in the form of saron, kenong, text, girls. The book consists of a front back cover, introduction, main content,. All gamelan is presented objectively in a simplification style through red to yellow. Abstract

Carbon fiber-reinforced epoxy (CFRE) has better performance properties and is commonly used in the aviation industry. The placement of carbon fiber will affect the mechanical properties of the resulting composite material. The specific application to actual components has yet to be discovered regarding the mechanical capabilities of the CFRE utilization. Therefore, it is essential to investigate further the mechanical behavior of CFRE composites with varying oriented carbon fibers, especially those produced using the vacuum infusion method with a volume fraction of 40%. This study presents an experimental investigation of the CFRE composite with varying oriented carbon fibers in unidirectional, bidirectional, and forged. The result shows composite materials' mechanical characteristics, particularly in the properties of Young's modulus, Poisson ratio, and shear modulus. The unidirectional fiber composites are only suitable for tensile loads in line with the fiber, while bidirectional fiber composites should be cautiously undertaken, as tensile loads applied to the Z-axis may lead to adverse effects; conversely, shear forces can be safely applied to all three axes. The forged fiber direction results in each loading direction having separate capabilities, which are challenging to anticipate. The application of CFRE on an actual component should entail the integration of diverse fiber orientations within a single composite layer, particularly in highlighting manufacturing folding arm components and their adaptability. The test results demonstrate that the maximum load that can be tolerated by the folding arm before failure fulfills the requisite strength criteria, thus allowing for a safety factor of 7.8, which confirms the safety of the CFRE with combined fiber orientation in producing folding arm components.

Abstract

The gallery will select various forms of contemporary artworks based on a range of aesthetic criteria preferences ranging from concept, form, subject matter, relevance to social issues, symbolism, shocking materials, personal feelings, craftsmanship, innovation, current popularity, and others. The selection process for each exhibition dynamically considers these criteria, allowing the gallery to cater to market demands and introduce new aesthetic perspectives to advance Indonesian art. Therefore, this study aims to identify the parameters of aesthetic values used in collecting and exhibiting contemporary art in various galleries in Semarang and Yogyakarta, Indonesia. A descriptive qualitative method with a case study design explored art criticism, formalism, and deconstructivism. The sample population comprised contemporary art created by professional and emerging artists, which was exhibited between 2012 and 2022. Data were obtained from art samples, artists, appreciators, gallery owners, curators, and critics. Owners and curators were required to complete the questionnaire, followed by interviews, documentation, and observation. Conclusions were then drawn by examining the conceptual relationships in each choice of aesthetic value parameters selected by the gallery to identify aesthetic characteristics. The results showed preferences for contemporary reality, uniqueness attached to complex and complicated form processing, technical skills, and exploration of local idioms. Semarang Gallery presented art with unique dimensions beyond mainstream aesthetics. Intellectual ideas can be seen in Andy Dewantoro's 'Isolation', a work demonstrating a metalinguistic concept. The convention of landscape painting, typically characterized by vibrant colours, is challenged and interrogated through scenes rendered solely in black, white, and grey. The artistic mode of art at Semarang Gallery was also more innovative than that of Sangkring Art Space and Kiniko Art, which had several repetitions. Meanwhile, Sangkring Art Space and Kiniko Art focused more on the beauty of visualization than the criticality of visualization. The visual aesthetic in Nurhidayat's "Erotique, Toxique, Exotique" and Anton Afganial's "Uncertainty" present a visual aesthetic that emphasizes poetic functions. These paintings are complex, unified, and intense.

Abstract

Social media has become an important part of human life, especially teenagers. Adolescents are vulnerable to manipulation on social media by adults for financial gain or sexual gratification that ends in sexual abuse. Research on cyber grooming in Indonesia is still limited. This research was conducted with correlational studies. The study population was 768 students of SMP N 6 Semarang. The sampling technique used was simple random sampling by taking 20% of the total population of 154 students. The method of data collection is carried out using psychological scale instruments. Data analysis techniques use correlation. Results showed that there was a positive association between parental support and supervision of adolescents' understanding of the dangers of cyber grooming. Parents' awareness of the risks of online or the risks of social media use in adolescents needs to be increased.

Abstract

Human psychic development has different levels. A person will grow in harmony with his environment. However, for some people who have certain conditions it will be difficult to do this. This problem can lead to mental illness disorders. The author, who is a survivor, feels that people still consider this issue as a taboo problem. Therefore, the author was inspired to make an illustrative autobiographical book that tells the author's life story as a mental illness survivor. The stages of making this book consist of script writing, sketching, lineart, coloring, book layout and finishing. The contents in the book include the author's story with mental illness, GAD, Anorexia, OCD and Depression. The style used is a cartoon style to display expressive visual elements so that readers will easily understand the meaning inside it. The author uses pastel colors to give a soft and comfortable impression to the reader. The author also uses several points of view such as Long Shot, High View, Low View and Medium Shot to give dinamic style. This book will be an intermediary that brings readers and mental illness survivors to help both parties understand the importance of mental health.
