Abstract

The growing prevalence of intolerance among younger generations presents a significant challenge for contemporary education, particularly within Islamic educational institutions. Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) hold a strategic position as agents of character formation, especially in cultivating moderation and tolerance through education grounded in moderate Islamic values. This study aims to examine the strategies employed to strengthen moderate Islamic values in formal education at Darul Musthofa Al Mahmudany Islamic Boarding School in Pesawaran, Lampung. Adopting a qualitative field research approach, the study involved seven purposively selected participants, including pesantren leaders, teachers (ustadz), senior students, alumni, and community leaders. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis, and were analyzed using the interactive model proposed by Miles and Huberman. The findings reveal that the pesantren systematically integrates moderate Islamic values into its curriculum, teaching practices, and the daily lives of students. These strategies encompass the integration of religious and general education curricula, the exemplary conduct of the kyai, the promotion of tolerance through religious discussions and social activities, as well as the utilization of digital media as a platform for moderate da’wah. Moreover, active engagement with the surrounding community further reinforces the internalization of wasathiyah values. Overall, the pesantren demonstrates a contextual and adaptive model of Islamic education that plays a significant role in shaping inclusive students with a strong sense of national identity.

Abstract

This study examines how to increase the learning interest of seventh-grade students in studying Islamic Jurisprudence (Fiqih) using the Whole Group Discussion learning method, which shows that this method is effective in increasing students’ learning interest. This study uses a quantitative approach with a one group pretest posttest design to determine the differences in students’ learning interest before and after the implementation of the Whole Group Discussion method, which includes several stages, such as planning, implementation, and evaluation. The results of this study show that there is a significant difference between student’s learning interest at the pretest, with the results of the t-test hypothesis using paired sample test obtaining a significant value of 0.02 < 0.05. Based on the testing rules, if the sig. (2-tailed) value is < 0.05, then Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted, so it can be concluded that there is a significant influence of the Whole Group Discussion learning method on students' learning interest in Fiqih subject for seventh-grade students. Thus, this study provides empirical evidence that the implementation of the Whole Group Discussion method can increase students’ learning interest in studying Fiqih, so this method can be used as an alternative to improve the quality of learning in schools. Based on the results of the research conducted by the researcher, it can be concluded that there is a significant influence of the Whole Group Discussion learning method on students' learning interest in Fiqih subjects for seventh-grade students, so teachers can consider this method in the learning procces to increase students, interest and engagement.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of implementing the "make-a-match" cooperative learning model on the mathematics learning outcomes of third-grade students at SDN 163 Palembang. The population of this study was all third-grade students at SDN 163 Palembang. The sampling technique used random sampling, where 57 students were drawn from two classes to determine the control and experimental classes. The data collected in this study consisted of student learning outcomes obtained from pretest and posttest tests administered to third-grade students at SDN 163 Palembang. Data analysis used an independent sample t-test, meaning a two-sample unpaired test. The analysis showed a significant value of 0.000 <0.05, thus rejecting H0 and accepting Ha. Thus, the implementation of the Make-A-Match cooperative learning model has an impact on the mathematics learning outcomes of third-grade students at SDN 163 Palembang

Abstract

Limited knowledge among smallholder goat farmers regarding appropriate antibiotic use may contribute to the emergence of antimicrobial resistance in livestock-associated bacteria. This study aimed to identify bacterial isolates and evaluate antibiotic resistance patterns of bacteria obtained from fecal and nasal mucosal swabs of goats in Pematang Gajah. Samples were collected from nine goats with three repeated examinations. Bacterial identification was performed using Gram staining followed by standard biochemical tests. The results showed that 8 of 9 isolates (≈90%) from fecal swabs exhibited biochemical characteristics consistent with Escherichia coli, including Indole (+), MR (+), VP (−), Citrate (−), TSIA A/A with gas production, positive motility, and metallic green sheen on EMB agar. A total of 7 of 9 isolates (≈76%) from nasal mucosal swabs demonstrated typical characteristics of Staphylococcus aureus, namely Gram-positive cocci, catalase-positive, coagulase-positive, mannitol fermentation positive, and β-hemolysis. Antibiotic susceptibility testing conducted on one isolate of E. coli and one isolate of S. aureus with three replications revealed the highest inhibition zones in E. coli against enrofloxacin (23.33 ± 0.58 mm) and gentamicin (21.33 ± 0.58 mm), categorized as sensitive, while high resistance was observed against tylosin (8.33 ± 0.58 mm) and penicillin–streptomycin (9.33 ± 0.58 mm). Staphylococcus aureus isolates showed high sensitivity to enrofloxacin (24.33 ± 0.58 mm), tylosin and gentamicin (22.33 ± 0.58 mm), but resistance to penicillin–streptomycin and ampicillin. These findings indicate variability in antimicrobial susceptibility among goat-associated bacteria and highlight the importance of susceptibility-based antibiotic selection to reduce antimicrobial resistance risk.
