Abstract

The development of digital technology requires MSMEs to adapt in order to increase their competitiveness and expand their market reach. Cahaya Pancing MSME, which is engaged in the sale of fishing equipment and supplies in Batam City, still relies on conventional marketing and has not made optimal use of digital media. This community service activity aims to help Cahaya Pancing SME build and optimize its digital presence through the implementation of a bilingual digital promotion strategy (Indonesian and English). The method used is a qualitative approach through interviews and field observations to identify the needs and problems of partners. Based on the analysis results, the design and implementation of outputs were carried out in the form of creating business emails, Instagram and Facebook social media accounts, business logos, Linktree, bilingual digital content, as well as assistance in content management and digital promotion. The results of the activity showed an increase in social media activity, customer interaction, improved Google ratings, and increased consumer trust and interest. The results showed measurable improvements, including active management of Instagram and Facebook accounts, increased engagement in terms of likes and comments, improvement in Google ratings, and higher customer interest reflected in increased inquiries.  This activity made a positive contribution to strengthening the digital identity, increasing the visibility of the business, and supporting the sustainability and competitiveness of Cahaya Pancing MSMEs in the digital era.

Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) play a very important role in economic recovery and enhancing a country's competitiveness. Facing competition from domestic and international firms, this study examines the complex relationships among business strategy, entrepreneurial orientation, authentic leadership, and their collective contribution to competitive advantage through innovation. Using a quantitative approach with online and offline questionnaires, the study focuses on manufacturing companies in Batam, with a sample of 341. Data was analyzed using SPSS and Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The results reveal positive effects of authentic leadership and business strategy on both innovation and competitive advantage. Notably, innovation emerges as a key mediator, underscoring its essential role in strengthening competitive advantage. These findings provide valuable insights into the dynamics of MSMEs in Batam and offer practical guidance for enhancing competitiveness through strategic leadership and innovation.

Abstract

Technology has become an important aspect of the business world as it is able to expand market reach, improve efficiency, and enhance competitiveness. Currently, many Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) have adopted technology to expand their businesses and promote their products. However, Warung Berkah has not yet adopted technology in its operations. Warung Berkah has been operating for nearly three years and has successfully provided a variety of culinary products to customers; nevertheless, despite its relatively long establishment, this MSME has not developed optimally. By developing social media accounts and implementing online ordering services, the Warung Berkah MSME is expected to grow further. The implementation process of this activity was carried out through interviews, observations, and documentation, and the results obtained after implementing the developed platforms indicate fairly positive outcomes, as evidenced by increased interaction on Warung Berkah’s social media pages. The expected impact of this activity is that the Warung Berkah MSME will continue to utilize digital-based promotional media through social media accounts and consistently make use of online ordering services.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk merancang dan menerapkan Standard Operasional Prosedur (SOP) keselamatan kerja yang terstruktur dan aplikatif di PT Amnor Shipyard, Batam, guna meningkatkan Keselamatan dan Kesehatan Kerja (K3) serta meminimalkan risiko kecelakaan kerja. Metode pelaksanaan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif melalui observasi lapangan, wawancara dengan manajemen, supervisor, dan pekerja, serta studi dokumentasi. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis menggunakan metode Job Safety Analysis (JSA) untuk mengidentifikasi aktivitas kritis dan potensi bahaya kerja. Hasil pelaksanaan menunjukkan tersusunnya delapan dokumen SOP keselamatan kerja untuk aktivitas berisiko tinggi, dilengkapi checklist inspeksi, formulir pendukung, serta panduan implementasi dan sosialisasi. Penerapan SOP ini meningkatkan kesadaran pekerja terhadap K3, memudahkan pengawasan manajemen, dan menjadi dasar penguatan budaya keselamatan kerja di PT Amnor Shipyard.

Abstract

This study examines the impact of capital structure on the financial performance of family-owned firms in Indonesia. In addition, it explores the moderating role of ownership concentration. The data were obtained from family firms listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) for the period 2019–2024 and analyzed using panel data regression with a fixed effects model. Capital structure is measured using the ratios of short-term debt, long-term debt, and total debt to total assets, while financial performance is assessed using ROA and ROE. The results indicate that both short-term and long-term debt have a significant negative effect on ROA and ROE, whereas total debt shows a significantly positive effect on both performance indicators. Ownership concentration moderates these relationships, with effects that either strengthen or weaken the influence of debt depending on the type. Control variables such as firm size and age show no significant impact on performance, while sales growth positively affects ROA only. These findings highlight the importance of maintaining a balanced capital structure and the strategic role of concentrated ownership in enhancing the effectiveness of financial decision-making.

Abstract

Kegiatan sosial di lingkungan panti asuhan memiliki peran strategis dalam mendukung tumbuh kembang anak-anak yang berada dalam kondisi pengasuhan alternatif. Anak-anak yang hidup dalam lingkungan panti kerap menghadapi keterbatasan dalam akses terhadap kegiatan edukatif non-formal, literasi yang memadai, dan interaksi sosial yang membangun. Dalam rangka memberikan pengalaman belajar yang lebih menyeluruh dan bermakna, mahasiswa Universitas Internasional Batam melaksanakan kegiatan kunjungan dan bakti sosial di Panti Asuhan Vistos Kasih Ikhlas, Batam, dengan pendekatan edukatif, komunikatif, dan interaktif. Tujuan dari kegiatan ini adalah untuk memberikan kontribusi dalam penguatan karakter, peningkatan minat baca, dan pemahaman nilai sosial kepada anak-anak panti melalui kegiatan sederhana yang disusun secara terstruktur. Program kegiatan mencakup tiga segmen utama, yaitu penyampaian materi edukatif mengenai bullying, pelaksanaan permainan edukatif (edugame), dan sesi membaca buku bersama. Ketiga bentuk kegiatan tersebut dirancang untuk menciptakan suasana yang nyaman, inklusif, dan menyenangkan, serta mendorong partisipasi aktif dari anak-anak sebagai subjek pembelajaran. Materi tentang bullying disampaikan secara ringan dan disesuaikan dengan usia peserta, dengan tujuan agar anak-anak memahami pentingnya menghargai sesama dan mampu mengenali tindakan-tindakan yang dapat melukai orang lain. Permainan edukatif dilaksanakan untuk merangsang kemampuan berpikir cepat, kerja sama, dan interaksi positif dalam kelompok. Sedangkan kegiatan membaca bersama difokuskan pada peningkatan minat baca, pemahaman isi cerita, serta membangun kedekatan emosional antara mahasiswa dan anak-anak melalui diskusi ringan. Hasil dari kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa pendekatan yang digunakan efektif dalam menciptakan lingkungan belajar yang menyenangkan dan membangun. Anak-anak terlihat aktif, antusias, dan menunjukkan rasa percaya diri dalam mengikuti setiap sesi kegiatan. Di sisi lain, mahasiswa memperoleh pengalaman berharga dalam hal keterampilan komunikasi, adaptasi sosial, dan peningkatan empati. Kegiatan ini juga memperkuat pemahaman mahasiswa mengenai pentingnya kehadiran dan kontribusi langsung terhadap komunitas yang membutuhkan perhatian lebih. Dengan perencanaan yang matang dan pelaksanaan yang adaptif, kegiatan sosial ini berpotensi untuk dikembangkan menjadi program berkelanjutan yang dapat diimplementasikan di berbagai lembaga sosial lainnya. Pendekatan sederhana namun berdampak seperti ini mampu menciptakan ruang pembelajaran dua arah yang saling memperkaya, baik bagi anak-anak sebagai peserta maupun mahasiswa sebagai pelaksana kegiatan.

Abstract

Artificial intelligence (AI) has significantly improved efficiency in financial technology (fintech) services in Indonesia and globally. This study aims to analyze the perceptions of university students in Indonesia regarding the use of financial technology in an era of rapid AI development. In addition, the study examines students’ perspectives on fintech usage in relation to the security of users’ assets. The research employs a questionnaire-based method conducted across Indonesian universities, involving 217 university student respondents. The results indicate that psychological factors influence the intention to use virtual agents differently across basic and advanced digital financial services. Perceived security has a stronger effect on the adoption of virtual agents for routine transactions, whereas perceived convenience plays a key role in encouraging their use for more complex financial services. These findings highlight the importance of tailoring the design of AI-based virtual agents to the level of complexity of the financial services offered.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of current money management stress and expected future financial security on financial behavior, with financial stress as a mediating variable among individuals of productive age in Indonesia. This study adopts a quantitative approach using a survey method through the distribution of online questionnaires to respondents aged 17–64 years. The sampling technique applied is non-probability sampling using the convenience sampling method. Data were analyzed using structural equation modeling based on partial least squares with the assistance of SmartPLS software. The findings indicate that current money management stress has a significant effect on financial stress and financial behavior, while expected future financial security significantly affects financial behavior. However, financial stress is not found to mediate the relationship between independent variables and financial behavior.

Abstract

This study examines the effects of Digital Financial Literacy (DFL) and Mobile Perceived Financial Cost (MPFC) on Digital Financial Inclusion (DFI), with Behavioral Intention (BI) and Use behavior (UB) as mediating variables. Using a quantitative approach, data were collected from 203 mobile fintech users in Batam City and analyzed with PLS-SEM. The results show that DFL has a positive and significant effect on BI, which subsequently influences UB and enhances DFI. BI and UB act as mediating variables, while MPFC has no significant effect on fintech usage. These findings emphasize the importance of digital financial literacy in promoting digital financial inclusion.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effects of perceived usefulness, government support, and digital financial literacy on behavioral intention and use behavior in the use of Financial Technology (FinTech) services among university students. Data were collected through a questionnaire from 214 student respondents and analyzed using the PLS-SEM method. The results indicate that perceived usefulness and digital financial literacy have a positive and significant effect on behavioral intention and use behavior, while government support has no significant effect, either directly or indirectly. Furthermore, behavioral intention is proven to mediate the effects of perceived usefulness and digital financial literacy on use behavior, but it does not mediate the effect of government support. These findings suggest that perceived usefulness and digital financial literacy are the main factors driving students’ use of FinTech services.
