Abstract

This study investigates the impact of vehicular emissions on the physico-chemical properties of topsoil at Padjadjaran University, Jatinangor. Soil samples were analyzed for pH, electrical conductivity (EC), total dissolved solids (TDS), magnetic susceptibility ()LFll, magnetic domain properties (), and heavy metal concentrations using Inductively Coupled Plasma-Optical Emission Spectrometry (ICP-OES). The results showed that while pH values remained within the neutral range (6.03–7.40), elevated EC and TDS values were observed at locations with high traffic density, indicating increased ionic content from anthropogenic sources. Magnetic susceptibility values ranged from 506.7 to 1148.7 × 10⁻⁸ m³kg⁻¹, with all sites exceeding 10 × 10⁻⁸ m³kg⁻¹, confirming the presence of ferrimagnetic minerals, and higher values were found near areas with heavy vehicle activity. The ) values, mostly below 4%, suggest a significant contribution from anthropogenic magnetic particles, dominated by stable single domain (SSD) and multi domain (MD) grains. Heavy metal analysis revealed that most elements (Fe, Mn, Cu, Zn, Al, As, Mg, Ca, K, Ni and Cr) were within permissible limits, except cadmium (Cd), which exceeded background crustal levels, suggesting contamination from anthropogenic sources, including vehicle emissions.

Abstract

Effective selling price determination is one of the crucial aspects in the sustainability of MSME businesses. The background of this study is the various challenges faced by MSMEs in setting competitive selling prices in the market while providing optimal profits. The main problem lies in the lack of understanding of MSME actors regarding strategic pricing methods, such as cost plus pricing which integrates all cost components and profit margins in determining selling prices. The study focuses on a comparative analysis of selling price determination using the cost plus pricing method with traditional practices that have been carried out by MSME Mekarsari. The novelty of the study lies in the provision of an application model that supports MSME actors in adopting a practical cost-based pricing method that is relevant to local market dynamics. The phenomenon studied shows a gap between production costs and selling prices which results in profit margins not being measured accurately. The qualitative descriptive method was used in this study and the primary data sources were the results of observations and interviews with MSME Mekarsari. The data analysis method uses the calculation of selling price determination using the cost plus pricing method, the full costing approach and variable costing. Empirical findings show that the application of the cost plus pricing method can produce more competitive and measurable selling prices compared to traditional methods. In addition, this study found that the understanding of MSME actors regarding the structure of production costs plays a major role in the success of implementing this method. The results of the study provide strategic recommendations for MSMEs to increase competitive advantage through data-based price and cost analysis.

Abstract

Sarimukti landfill serves as a waste disposal site. Leachate generated from waste accumulation is discharged through pipelines into multiple retention ponds. This study aims to assess contamination levels in leachate deposits by analyzing the magnetic properties and morphology of magnetic minerals collected from four retention ponds, along with measurements of pH, EC, and TDS in the pond water. Magnetic susceptibility values range from 37.4 – 409.5 (×10⁻⁸) m³/kg, indicating ferrimagnetic mineral dominance. The  values range from 0.81% - 5.96%, where  >2% is often associated to pollutant-contaminated soils. A negative correlation between  and  suggests a minor contribution of superparamagnetic grains from pedogenesis. Scanning Electron Microscopy - Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (SEM-EDS) analysis identifies spherule and hedral magnetic mineral shapes, with O and Fe as dominant elements and minor Ti, indicating magnetite and titanomagnetite presence. Other elements, including C, Mg, Al, Si, K, Ca, and Mn, likely originate from anthropogenic sources.

Abstract

The magnetotelluric method is a geophysical method that utilizes natural variations in the electromagnetic field to map the resistivity distribution beneath the surface. In this method, inversion is the primary process used to estimate the resistivity structure from field data. This study proposes a deep learning-based approach for one-dimensional magnetotelluric inversion, combining Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) and Gated Recurrent Unit (GRU) as an alternative inversion method. The dataset consists of 20 layers with resistivity and thickness values randomly selected within a specific range at 4000 meters depths and a probability value. Apparent resistivity and phase are obtained through forward modeling based on selected resistivity and thicknesses as input, while the resistivity structure is used as output, with a large data sample. The dataset was standardized and normalized using a logarithmic scale and the MinMax method to map values into the 0-1 range. The dataset was used to train the proposed CNN-GRU model, which is capable of mapping the resistivity distribution in the subsurface. The results show that the CNN-GRU model could map the resistivity distribution model and predict its thicknesses with small error based on the apparent resistivity and phase data, indicating that it can be used for one-dimensional inversion in magnetotellurics. Nevertheless, the model performed quite well on several field datasets, showing a good fit between predicted and true values.
