Abstract

The purpose of this research is to obtain an overview of the communication and interaction patterns occurring within the Converse fan group, Converse Head Indonesia, using the critical-constructivism paradigm. This study employs a digital ethnography strategy with a qualitative approach, utilizing in-depth interviews and observations of the group's activities on their Facebook fan page. Through interviews with six informants selected purposively and using the snowball technique, it was found that social interactions among CHI members are grouped into nine dimensional categories based on interview questions. The results reveal that members join the network to socialize and gain access to the latest Converse products, including benefits, price information, and where to obtain them. From the interactions among CHI members, exclusivity, value standards, appearance standards, and ethics were also identified. Lastly, it was found that the interactions within the CHI group predominantly emphasize economic values.

Abstract

Critical thinking skills and digital literacy can be influenced by several factors, one of which is the use of LKPD learning media. LKPD can be used on Ecology and Biodiversity material. This research aims to develop digital LKPD learning media products to improve student’s critical thinking and digital literacy skills at SMP Kartika X-1 Jatinegara, East Jakarta. This type of research is development research using the Hannafin and Peck model, through stages of analysis, design and implementation with evaluation and revision at each stage. The targets of this research were 106 seventh grade students at SMP Kartika X-1, Jatinegara, East Jakarta. Data analysis techniques in this research was n-gain test. The validation results for the development of digital LKPD from media experts and material experts received a score in the very good category. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that digital LKPD media can be developed and is suitable as a learning media for Ecology and Biodiversity material, and is effective enough in improving student’s critical thinking skills and digital literacy

Abstract

Biological literacy is essential for students to understand and apply biological concepts. This study aims to develop an e-book on the ecosystem and examine its effect on the biological literacy of Grade X students at SMA Muhammadiyah 4 Jakarta. The research adopted the Hannafin & Peck development model. Based on the needs analysis, students require learning media that is portable and visually engaging. The created e-book has instructional texts that cover four areas of biological literacy: nominal, functional, conceptual, and procedural. It also has AKM-style questions that require reasoning and structured practice exercises. Feasibility testing covered aspects of construction, material, and language, with an average score of 3.4 in the valid category. The effectiveness test showed an increase in students’ biological literacy, with pre-test and post-test average scores of 50.05 and 80.11, respectively. The N-gain score was 0.62 (categorized as medium), and the effect size was 2.98 (categorized as a strong effect). Although effective, the e-book has limitations, such as the inability to complete quizzes directly within the e-book and the requirement of an internet connection to access external practice features. These limitations are recommended to be addressed in future research and development.

Abstract

This study examined the relationship between parenting styles and mental health among first-year university students in Indonesia. An analytic observational design with a cross-sectional approach was used. The research was conducted at two academies under Education Foundation X in Jakarta and included 43 first-year students aged 18–19 years who completed the Parental Authority Questionnaire-Short (PAQ-S) and the Depression, Anxiety, and Stress Scale-21 (DASS-21). Parenting styles were classified as authoritative, authoritarian, or permissive, and mental health was assessed in terms of depression, anxiety, and stress. Descriptive analysis showed that students who perceived their parents as authoritarian had the highest proportions of severe and extremely severe symptoms in all three domains. Non-parametric tests indicated significant differences in depression, anxiety, and stress scores across parenting style groups, with the authoritarian group showing higher median scores than the authoritative group. Post hoc comparisons confirmed that authoritarian parenting was associated with significantly poorer mental health than authoritative parenting. These findings suggested that parenting style remained an important factor for psychological well-being in late adolescence and supported the promotion of more authoritative parenting to help protect first-year university students from mental health problems.

Abstract

The student press is part of the national press ecosystem, serving as a training ground for students to become journalists. The problems faced by the student press are not much different from those faced by the general press. The challenges faced by the student press include physical attacks, verbal intimidation, doxing, censorship, and even banning. The student press is more vulnerable because Law No. 40 of 1999 concerning the Press does not specifically mention campus press but only regulates legally incorporated press institutions. As a result, the position of the student press is weak; if their journalistic products are questioned, they cannot be mediated by the Press Council. It was not until 2024 that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by the Press Council and the Directorate General of Higher Education (DIKTI), which was opening the way for student press protection and consultation or mediation assistance with the Press Council, and training and education for campus presses as well.  The research paradigm is constructivism, where truth is social reality as a social construction, and the truth of social reality is relative. In this qualitative research, we conducted in-depth observations of student press informants.

Abstract

Lakes and waterfalls are freshwater ecosystems having important roles in ecology, tourism and economic aspects.  Among living organisms existing in lakes and waterfalls is neuston.  Neuston lives on the surface and below the surface of the waters.  Neuston can be used as a bioindicator for water quality due to the neuston’s high level of sensitivity toward pollutants. The purpose of this study was to determine the density and diversity of neuston as a bioindicator for water quality in the lake and waterfall. The methods used were survey and observation. The study was carried out by using purposive sampling at two locations, namely the lake and waterfall of Situ Gunung, Sukabumi, with a sampling area of    1 x 1 m2. The samples obtained were put into bottles containing 70% alcohol to be identified in the laboratory. Environmental parameters measured were air and water temperature, water pH, water depth, turbidity, water flow velocity, dissolved oxygen, substrate and weather conditions. The results obtained indicated that the lake and waterfall of Situ Gunung, Sukabumi had highest neuston densities were shown by Gerris lacustris and Dineutus assimilis. The lowest neuston densities were shown by Metrobates hesperius, Gerris comatus, Aquarius remiges and Trepobates pictus. This study showed that the environmental parameters of the lake and waterfall of Situ Gunung, Sukabumi can still support the survival of the existing neustons.
