Abstract

This research is a qualitative descriptive study, an analysis of the humanistic psychology of bibliomania behavior experienced by students of the UIN Sunan Kalijaga Library Science. The condition where a person has an obsessive-compulsive form of excessive desire to collect books continuously. The goal of the research is to know someone's psychological desire to buy a book and feel relieved in collecting books even though not read. the main motivation in gathering lots of books is just to add to his own insight but when someone has a love and passion for reading books, then all desires related to books will be an extraordinary intellectual adventure. So it is not surprising when a person can be infected with biblicism if he has an excessive desire to buy, read, save, and enjoy books. It's better to love books and buy books naturally, if there is still a large collection of books stored and unread, then hold to buy more books. after reading a book it would be nice to give a review or some kind of ability to write from the results of reading a book. From this creative attitude, we can develop the skills and potential we have to build a civilized nation.

Abstract

The phenomenon of information overload in the digital era places librarians as information facilitators who must have superior social skills.This research aims to explore the role of librarians' social skills in facing the information society and the challenges that come with it. Social skills such as interpersonal communication, empathy, cooperation, and emotional management are important foundations for creating responsive library services. The research method uses a literature approach by analyzing related literature. The results showed that librarians are not only information providers but also as agents of change. Agent of change that supports information literacy and the wise use of information. In facing the challenges of information overload, librarians must identify community’s information needs, utilize digital technology, and develop the community’s information needs, utilize digital technology, and develop relevant innovative programs. In addition, the development of social skills such as empathy, lobbying, and negotiation skills is needed to build good relationships with the community and stakeholders. This research confirms the importance of librarians' social skills as a core element in library services. The results of this study are expected to provide recommendations for library institutions to design more effective social skills training.

Abstract

This research discusses the implementation of censorship management at UIN Raden Mas Said Surakarta Library as a strategy to control the procurement of collections that are not in accordance with academic needs and institutional values. Censorship is important because the library not only functions as an information provider, but also as a guardian of the quality and safety of content for users. The purpose of this study is to describe the process of applying censorship to library collections, as well as identify the obstacles faced by librarians in its implementation. This research uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data collection techniques were conducted through interviews, observation, and documentation. The informants in this study were the censorship team consisting of the head of the library, librarians in the procurement section, and collection processing. The results showed that censorship activities have been implemented since the inception of the library and are carried out periodically every time there is a new collection procurement plan. The approach used refers to the McColvin model which combines the librarian's professional point of view and user needs. Some of the obstacles encountered include budget constraints, the high cost of foreign collections, and proposals for banned collections. Selective and structured censorship management is needed to maintain collection quality and support academic goals

Abstract

This research aims to analyze human libraries in building an inclusive environment with a focus on a living collection case study at the UIN Sunan Kalijaga library. Qualitative and descriptive research methods were used. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and a literature study. The results show that users are aware of the existence of living collections through user education activities and part-time experience programs. There are two factors that encourage users to access residential collections: internal and external. The internal factors that influence users to utilize live collections are curiosity and curiosity. External factors that influence users to utilize residential collections for research purposes. There is a Living collection Program that has a positive impact as a figure that inspires users. Procedurally, there were no significant barriers to accessing the living collections.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Introduction. nformation is a medium that has high use value. For everyone, the need for information is everything for the sake of carrying out daily activities. The purpose of this study in general is to find out the information seeking model for IPI Postgraduate students of UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta class of 2018, these students are included in the millennial generation. Specific or more specific objectives in this research are; (a) to determine the variety of generations, (b) to find out the information needs of students, (c) to find out the origins of information seeking sources, (d) to find out information seeking models, (e) and to find out barriers to information seeking Data Collection Method. This research is a descriptive qualitative research, using a case study model. The determination of the research subjects was carried out by using purposive sampling technique. This research uses information theory. The informants in this study were 13 students of postgraduate IPI concentration class 2018. The data collection techniques in this study used interview techniques and documentation study. Results and Discussions. Based on the results of interviews and data analysis conducted, the results indicate the need for information on IPI postgraduate class 2018 students in the form of; books, internet journals, videos, recordings, and literature related to IPI concentration. Sources of information used by students are; books, reading rooms in libraries, internet, seminars, and human resources. Information seeking model by students in the form of; Ellis' model: starting, chaining, browsing, differentianting, mentoring, extracting. Conclusions. Using methods or models to obtain information, and obstacles in obtaining information cannot be avoided because of the limited skills students have. The Ellis model is a model or search for the right information to be implemented by IPI postgraduate students of class 2018

Abstract

ABSTRACT Introduction. This study aims to determine the strategy of developing the competence of librarians at the Office of the Dinas Perpustakaan dan Kearsipan Kabupaten Gunung Kidul. Data Collection Method. This research uses descriptive qualitative method. Methods of data collection using frank or covert observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation. The technique of determining the informants used purposive sampling. The data analysis technique in this study uses the theory of Miles and Hubermen, namely data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Test the validity of the data in this study using a credibility test which includes: extension of observation, triangulation, and member check. Transferability test, depenability test, and confirmability test. Result and Discussions. The research results are; (1) The librarian competency development strategy is divided into two, namely formal and informal development. Formal development is in the form of: training, technical guidance, workshops, seminars, professional organizations, competitions for outstanding librarians and fostered areas for librarians. Meanwhile, informal librarian competency development includes: being a resource person or speaker, coordinating fellow librarians, networking, and relationships. (2) supporting factors in the implementation of librarian competency development include: motivation within the librarian itself and full support from the service and the Head of the Dinas Perpustakaan dan Kearsipan Kabupaten Gunung Kidul Service. While the inhibiting factors that need special attention are related to the budget for developing the competence of librarians and limiting quotas in an activity. Conclusions. The suggestion to be given for the strategy of developing the competence of librarians at the Office of the Dinas Perpustakaan dan Kearsipan Kabupaten Gunung Kidul is to maximize the available budget for developing the competence of librarians by being more selective in choosing the development activities to be carried out. And for librarians who have the opportunity to take part in training activities, seminars, workshops, technical guidance and other competency development, they can share their knowledge and knowledge with other librarians. Abstract

Introduction: Librarians will encounter various personalities and characters of librarians when helping them. For librarians, it is important to improve interpersonal communication skills to deal with this. The main goal is to provide the best service to users. In this case, it is very important for librarians to have interpersonal communication skills in serving users. Research mMethod: This research uses the library research method, then collects data using secondary sources such as books, journal articles, documents and other means such as websites. Data Analysis: there are three stages in analyzing this research data, namely, collecting data, selecting data and then verifying the data. Results and Discussion: There are several attitudes to have good interpersonal skills, namely, empathy, supportiveness, positiveness, equality, confidence, Immediacy, interaction management. Then there are influencing factors, namely source, encoding, message, channel, receiver, decoding, response, interference, and context in communication. Apart from that, there are several other influencing factors such as cultural background, education, and so on. Furthermore, the urgency of interpersonal communication for librarians occurs because it is considered the most successful in changing the attitudes, beliefs, views and behavior of communicants. Conclusion and Recommendations: Strong communication skills developed by librarians will enable recognizing and understanding the needs and characteristics of librarians. So it is important for librarians to have interpersonal communication skills, listening ability; skills in providing services; and skills in conveying information.

Abstract

Dalam beberapa tahun terakhir perkembangan teknologi informasi dan komunikasi (TIK) telah mengubah paradigma gaya hidup Masyarakat dari time series menjadi real time, hal ini menciptakan fenomena yang disebut masyarakat informasi. Masyarakat informasi ditandai oleh tingginya kebutuhan akan informasi dan kemampuan menggunakan teknologi informasi telah menjadi hal yang wajar dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk menyoroti pentingnya peran perpustakaan digital dalam melayani Masyarakat informasi. Pada Penelitian ini, metode yang digunakan menggunakan studi kepustakaan (library research). Library research melibatkan sejumlah literatur dan sumber data sekunder lainnya yang berkaitan dengan peran perpustakaan digital dalam melayani Masyarakat informasi. Hasil penelitian ini mengatakan bahwa terdapat tiga peran utama perpustakaan digital dalam melayani Masyarakat informasi diantaranya, 1) penyedia akses terhadap informasi global, 2) penghubung antara informasi dan Masyarakat informasi, 3) kemudahan akses terhadap informasi. Dengan di dukung teknologi yang canggih, perpustakaan digital dapat mengatasi kendala yang disebabkan oleh faktor geografis yang aksesnya tidak dibatasi oleh ruang dan waktu, artinya Perpustakaan digital dapat diakses dari manapun dan kapanpun

Abstract

Website merupakan media penyebarluasan informasi yang efektif dan efisien dibandingkan media massa lainnya, namun tidak mudah menarik perhatian pengunjung untuk mengunjungi website. Oleh karena itu dibutuhkan“optimalisasi pendayagunaan website dalam pengelolaan isi dan tampilan website. Dengan demikian website akan menjadi menarik dan komunikatif untuk sering dikunjungi oleh komunikan/user.”Jenis penelitian ini termasuk penelitian deskriptif kualitatif dengan fokus penelitian pada optimalisasi penggunaan website sebagai media publikasi informasi sekolah, dengan penekanan pada manajemen atau pengelolaan isi website SMK Koperasi Yogyakarta berdasarkan karakteristik dan tujuan website sebagai media publikasi online.”Hasil penelitian ini menujukan bahwa Setelah melakukan penelitian dengan data yang diperoleh dapat ditarik kesimpulan bahwa optimalisasi penggunaan website sebagai media publikasi informasi sekolah SMK Koperasi Yogyakarta adalah sebagai berikut: Pertama optimalisasi berdasarkan karakteristik website sebagai media publikasi antara lain: a) website SMK Koperasi Yogyakarta telah memiliki kecepatan dan aktualitas informasi; b) website SMK Koperasi Yogyakarta selalu memberikan informasi terbaru; c) website SMK Koperasi Yogyakarta mempunyai interaktifitas antara pengunjung website dan administrator; d) website SMK Koperasi Yogyakarta mempunyai multimedia yang lengkap; e) website SMK Koperasi Yogyakarta belum memiliki kapasitas penyimpanan yang besar; f) mempunyai hyperlink atau terhubung dengan sumber lain untuk memberikan informasi yang jelas ke pengunjung website. Kedua optimalisasi berdasarkan tujuan website sebagai media publikasi antara lain: a) website SMK Koperasi Yogyakarta telah didukung oleh menu dan fitur-fitur yang berguna dalam penyebaran informasi; b) website SMK Koperasi Yogyakarta digunakan untuk menampilkan informasi terkait kegiatan sosial kemanusiaan untuk menciptakan kesadaran masyarakat pengguna website; c) website SMK Koperasi Yogyakarta digunakan sebagai tujuan riset karena di website tersebut terdapat data-data yang dapat digunakan dalam penelitian; d) website SMK Koperasi Yogyakarta meningkatkan pelayanan, khususnya pada pelayanan pendaftaran siswa baru dengan menggunakan menu PPDB; e) website SMK Koperasi Yogyakarta belum melakukan kerjasama dengan lembaga/perusahan dalam meningkatkan distribusi.
