Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of a mathematics teaching module on the topic of the area of squares and rectangles implemented for fourth-grade elementary school students through the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model. The background of the study stems from students’ low conceptual understanding of area, which is still focused on memorizing formulas, and their weak understanding of units of area. The method used is descriptive qualitative, involving observation of the learning process, analysis of students’ worksheets (LKPD), and identification of obstacles encountered during the trial implementation. The results show that the teaching module helps students understand the concept of area concretely through the use of grids and the measurement of real objects. Students demonstrated high engagement in group work, discussions, and project result presentations. The challenges encountered include difficulty distinguishing between area and perimeter, lack of accuracy in counting unit squares, and weak understanding of square units. Overall, the teaching module is considered effective in improving conceptual understanding, learning motivation, and student engagement, although it still requires reinforcement of visual instructions and strategies for calculation efficiency.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low learning outcomes in Integrated Science and Social Studies (IPAS) among Grade V students at SDN 14 Siguntur, Pesisir Selatan Regency. The low achievement was influenced by students’ lack of focus, low learning motivation, and limited curiosity, which resulted in boredom and reluctance to participate in group activities. From the teacher’s perspective, learning was still dominated by lecture-based methods using standard teaching modules without innovation, and learning resources were limited to textbooks and student worksheets. Therefore, this study aimed to describe the improvement of IPAS learning outcomes through the implementation of the Discovery Learning model for Grade V students. This research employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) using qualitative and quantitative approaches. The study was conducted in two cycles, with Cycle I consisting of two meetings and Cycle II consisting of one meeting. Each cycle included the stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The research subjects were one teacher and 23 Grade V students. Research data were obtained from teaching module assessments, learning process observations, and student learning outcomes. The results showed that the teaching module assessment in Cycle I achieved an average score of 85.4% (B), which increased to 91.6% (SB) in Cycle II. Teacher and student learning activities improved from 89.06% (B) in Cycle I to 96.87% (SB) in Cycle II. Student learning outcomes increased from an average score of 74.44% (C) to 85.86% (B). It can be concluded that the Discovery Learning model effectively improves IPAS learning outcomes.

Abstract

This training was motivated by the low TPACK ability of elementary school teachers in the mathematics learning process. The purpose of this activity is to improve the TPACK ability of elementary school teachers in learning mathematics. The implementation method is by carrying out training activities in Cluster II, Pauh District, Padang City, involving 30 elementary school teachers. The results of the activity stated that there was an increase in the TPACK ability of elementary school teachers in learning mathematics. The implications of this activity can be used as a reference in developing the TPACK abilities of elementary school teachers.

Abstract

Penelitian ini terinspirasi oleh keterbatasan alat pembelajaran sekolah dasar yang membantu siswa menjelaskan konsep matematika menggunakan simbol, visual, dan grafik, khususnya dalam geometri bidang. Untuk pembelajaran yang lebih bermakna, siswa membutuhkan media yang menyajikan ide-ide abstrak dan merepresentasikan kehidupan sehari-hari. Multimedia interaktif berbasis program Smart Apps Creator dengan konten geometri bidang akan dikembangkan dan diuji untuk meningkatkan kemampuan komunikasi matematika siswa. Paradigma ADDIE digunakan untuk penelitian dan pengembangan, yang mencakup analisis, desain, pengembangan, implementasi, dan evaluasi. Lembar validasi, kuesioner kepraktisan, dan ujian hasil belajar dengan indikator komunikasi matematika merupakan alat studi. Penelitian ini menemukan bahwa (1) multimedia interaktif berbasis Smart Apps Creator sangat valid berdasarkan 93% ahli materi, 88% ahli media, dan 95% ahli bahasa. (2) Uji kepraktisan menghasilkan 90% pada uji coba kelompok kecil, 92% pada uji coba kelompok besar, dan 100% dari komentar pengajar. (3) Multimedia interaktif meningkatkan kemampuan komunikasi matematika siswa, dengan skor posttest rata-rata 87,16 dan analisis Skor N-Gain sebesar 73,91%, menjadikannya sangat efektif. Dengan demikian, multimedia interaktif berbasis Smart Apps Creator pada platform datar valid, praktis, dan efektif serta dapat meningkatkan kemampuan komunikasi matematika siswa sekolah dasar.This study is inspired by the limits of primary school learning tools that help pupils explain mathematical concepts using symbols, visuals, and graphs, particularly in plane geometry. For more meaningful learning, students need media that presents abstract ideas and represents daily life. Interactive multimedia based on the Smart Apps Creator program on plane geometry content will be developed and tested to improve students' mathematical communication abilities. The ADDIE paradigm is used for R&D, which covers analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. Validation sheets, practicality questionnaires, and learning results exams with mathematical communication indicators are study tools. The research found that (1) interactive multimedia based on Smart Apps Creator is extremely valid based on 93% material experts, 88% media experts, and 95% language experts. 2) The practicality test yields 90% in small group trials, 92% in large group trials, and 100% from instructor comments. (3) Interactive multimedia improves students' mathematical communication abilities, with an average posttest score of 87.16 and an N-Gain Score analysis of 73.91%, making it extremely successful. Thus, interactive multimedia based on Smart Apps Creator on flat forms is valid, practical, and successful and may improve primary school pupils' mathematical communication abilities.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low science learning outcomes of sixth-grade students at SDN 03 IV Koto Aur Malintang. The learning process was still conventional, lacked instructional media variation, and did not optimally involve students in active learning. This study aimed to describe the improvement of students’ science learning outcomes through the implementation of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by Google Sites. The research employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) using qualitative and quantitative approaches. The study was conducted in two cycles consisting of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages. The subjects were 18 sixth-grade students of SDN 03 IV Koto Aur Malintang in the first semester of the 2025/2026 academic year. Data were collected through observation, tests, and non-test techniques. The findings showed a significant improvement from Cycle I to Cycle II. The lesson plan assessment increased from 89.5% to 95.8%. Teacher activity improved from 87.4% to 100%, while student participation improved from good and sufficient categories to very good category. Students’ learning outcomes also increased from an average score of 71.7 in Cycle I to 95.6 in Cycle II. Therefore, the implementation of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by Google Sites effectively improved students’ science learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low level of student engagement in the learning process, which negatively impacted learning outcomes, as well as the limited application of the cooperative learning model, specifically the group investigation type, by teachers during instruction. The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of the group investigation model on the learning outcomes of Grade V elementary students in data analysis material. A quantitative approach was employed using a pre-experimental method in the form of a nonequivalent control group design. The sample consisted of Grade V students from SD Negeri 12 Koto Tinggi as the experimental class and SD Negeri 18 Kubang Pipik as the control class. Samples were selected using simple random sampling. The research instrument was a set of multiple-choice questions administered as pretest and posttest. The results showed a significant effect of the group investigation model on student learning outcomes. This was evidenced by the average posttest score of the experimental class (77.78), which was higher than that of the control class (52.02). Data analysis using a t-test yielded a significance value of < 0.001 (< 0.05), indicating that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted and the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected. Thus, it can be concluded that the use of the cooperative learning model of the group investigation type has a positive effect on improving learning outcomes in data analysis material for Grade V elementary students.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan perangkat pembelajaran berbasis Problem Based Learning (PBL) berupa modul ajar, Lembar Kerja Peserta Didik (LKPD), dan media pembelajaran berbasis Smart TV yang layak, praktis, dan efektif untuk meningkatkan aktivitas serta hasil belajar siswa Sekolah Dasar pada materi Kelipatan Persekutuan Terkecil (KPK) dan Faktor Persekutuan Terbesar (FPB). Metode penelitian menggunakan Research and Development (R&D) dengan tahapan: analisis kebutuhan, perancangan produk, validasi ahli, uji coba terbatas, revisi, dan uji coba luas. Hasil validasi ahli menunjukkan bahwa modul, LKPD, dan media Smart TV termasuk kategori sangat valid, dengan skor total materi 92,5%, media 92,5%, dan bahasa 90%. Implementasi di kelas menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan media interaktif Smart TV meningkatkan keterlibatan, motivasi, dan aktivitas belajar siswa. Analisis nilai siswa sebelum dan sesudah penggunaan media menunjukkan peningkatan rata-rata dari 72,4 menjadi 83,4, yang menegaskan efektivitas media dalam membantu pemahaman konsep KPK dan FPB. Penerapan modul, LKPD, dan media Smart TV berbasis PBL membuat pembelajaran lebih interaktif, kontekstual, dan bermakna, mempermudah guru dalam membimbing proses pemecahan masalah, serta membantu siswa membangun kemampuan berpikir kritis dan menerapkan konsep matematika pada situasi nyata. Revisi minor disarankan pada variasi soal, bahasa, dan desain media agar lebih relevan, menarik, dan mudah dipahami. Produk yang dikembangkan diharapkan menjadi solusi pembelajaran efektif untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar dan keterampilan berpikir tingkat tinggi siswa SD.

Abstract

This study addresses the low science achievement of third-grade students at SDN 21 Bandar Buat, which is associated with a largely teacher-centered instructional approach, limited student engagement, and the inadequate use of observation and experimental activities in the learning process. These conditions result in students being passive, less confident in asking questions, and struggling to understand concepts independently, which in turn leads to unsatisfactory learning outcomes and insufficient development of critical thinking skills. Moreover, classroom practices have not been fully aligned with the expectations of the Independent Curriculum. Therefore, this research aims to investigate the improvement of student learning outcomes on the topic of changes in the states of matter through the implementation of the Discovery Learning model in a third-grade classroom. This study employs a Classroom Action Research design, integrating both qualitative and quantitative approaches, and is conducted in two cycles. The first cycle consists of two meetings, while the second cycle includes one meeting, following stages of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The research instruments include observation sheets for lesson planning (RPPM), teacher and student activities, as well as assessment rubrics covering attitudes, knowledge, and skills. The participants consist of one teacher and 24 students. The results reveal consistent improvements in all observed aspects, including lesson planning, teacher and student activities, and overall learning outcomes, confirming the effectiveness of the Discovery Learning model.
