Abstract

This study was motivated by the fact that Physical Education (PJOK) instruction specifically in the area of agility as a component of physical fitness at SMP Negeri 2 Malang remains monotonous, teacher-centered, and fails to utilize innovative digital media, resulting in low student engagement and understanding. The purpose of this study was to develop a variety of educational game models based on deep learning through a circuit training approach, presented in a flipbook format, for seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 2 Malang. The method used was Research and Development (R&D) based on the ADDIE model. The research subjects consisted of one media expert, one content expert, and 31 seventh-grade students. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire. Validation results showed that the flipbook product received a 98% rating from the media expert and a 99% rating from the content expert; both ratings were categorized as “highly valid” and suitable for use without revision. The product also received a very positive response from 96.8% of the students. Thus, this product is suitable for use as a Physical Education (PJOK) learning medium for the agility component of physical fitness for seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 2 Malang.

Abstract

This study examined longitudinal changes in motor competence and social behavior among elementary school students participating in a progressively structured traditional-games program based on Low Organized Games (LOG), Basic Lead-up Games (BLG), and Advanced Lead-up Games (ALG). A single-cohort longitudinal repeated-measures design was employed with 60 first-grade students aged 6–7 years (33 boys and 27 girls), all of whom completed seven measurement occasions (T0–T6), with no attrition in the analytical sample. Motor competence was assessed using the Test of Gross Motor Development–Third Edition (TGMD-3). In contrast, social behavior was assessed as a continuous, teacher-rated outcome using the School Social Behavior Scales (SSBS). Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and repeated-measures ANOVA with Greenhouse–Geisser correction and Bonferroni-adjusted pairwise comparisons. Motor competence showed a consistent upward trajectory, with mean TGMD-3 total raw scores increasing from 42.73 at T0 to 91.18 at T6. The continuous social-behavior score also increased from 0.093 at T0 to 0.213 at T6. Significant changes over time were observed for motor competence, F(2.02, 119.11) = 53,371.75, p < .001, ηp² = .999, and social behaviour, F(2.51, 148.26) = 2,307.18, p < .001, ηp² = .975. All adjacent measurement comparisons were significant for both outcomes after Bonferroni adjustment. These findings show clear upward longitudinal trajectories in motor competence and social behavior during participation in the progressively structured traditional-games program.

Abstract

Background: Digital learning media can enhance the accessibility, interactivity, and flexibility of physical education instruction; however, evidence regarding interactive digital media specifically designed for football skill learning remains limited.  Objectives: This study aimed to develop and validate an iSpring-based interactive learning application for football instruction in secondary physical education. Methods: A research and development design based on the ADDIE model was employed. The product was evaluated by three experts representing football content, instructional design, and educational media. Following expert validation and revision, the application was evaluated through small-group (n = 30) and large-group (n = 60) trials. Data was collected using structured evaluation questionnaires and analysed descriptively using percentage scores. Results: Expert validation indicated high feasibility across football content (93.00%), instructional design (91.64%), and media quality (94.16%), with an overall validation score of 93.00%. The small-group trial yielded an overall score of 86.77%, whereas the large-group trial yielded 86.24%. All scores were classified as highly feasible according to the predefined criteria. Conclusion: The developed iSpring-based application demonstrated strong content, instructional, and media feasibility for football learning. The application provides a validated prototype for technology-enhanced football instruction; however, its effects on students’ learning achievement, skill acquisition, engagement, and retention require evaluation through controlled empirical studies.

Abstract

The development of this digital flipbook media focuses on the integration of various forms of educational games that utilize deep learning in the context of physical fitness, particularly in the aspect of muscle strength components, aimed at seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 2 Malang. In its implementation, this research follows the Research and Development (R&D) methodology path by adopting the ADDE (Analysis, Design, Development, and Evaluation) development model which is an adaptation of the widely known ADDIE model. The validation process in this study involved two experts, each acting as a validator in the field of learning materials and a validator in the field of media development. The data collection instrument used a 1–4 Likert scale validation sheet analyzed using descriptive percentage techniques. The resulting product is a digital flipbook media containing a structured learning storyboard combined with a video guide for a deep learning-based educational game. The validation results show that the product obtained a very valid category from both material experts (95.5%) and media experts (88.2%). The needs analysis revealed a gap between the high interest of students in PJOK and the low utilization of digital media in learning. This product not only develops physical muscle strength, but also encourages deep and reflective conceptual understanding through a deep learning approach, thus realizing holistic, interactive, and student-centered PJOK learning.
