Abstract

Previous studies on madrasah management in Indonesia remain largely descriptive and fragmented, with few attempts to integrate systematic reviews with bibliometric approaches. This study fills that gap by investigating the transformation of madrasah management under the Ministry of Religious Affairs’ 2019–2024 policy framework. Using a combined Systematic Literature Review (SLR) and bibliometric analysis with VOSviewer, we analyzed 149 academic articles published between 2015 and 2024, sourced from Scopus and Google Scholar. The findings reveal strong thematic concentrations on transformational leadership, strategic management, digital governance, and stakeholder participation, but also highlight persistent challenges such as regional disparities, weak policy implementation, and limited data-driven evaluation. Theoretically, this study contributes to the development of Islamic education management by contextualizing TQM, strategic management, and transformational leadership frameworks in the Indonesian madrasah context. Practically, it provides evidence-based recommendations for leadership training, equitable resource allocation, and inclusive digital transformation to support sustainable madrasah reform.

Abstract

This systematic literature review synthesizes 29 studies published between 2016 and 2025 to examine the multidimensional factors shaping the quality of early childhood education (ECE) across global contexts. Findings show that ECE quality is influenced by six interrelated dimensions: inclusion, equity, funding, wellbeing, governance, and culture, which interact through broader political, economic, social, and cultural structures. Strong governance and sustainable financing enhance equitable access, while inclusive and culturally responsive pedagogies support children’s holistic development and socio-emotional wellbeing. The review also identifies fragmentation across studies, limited cross-country comparative work, and persistent policy-practice gaps that hinder the effective implementation of high-quality ECE. The study proposes an integrated model demonstrating how structural and contextual factors collectively shape early learning experiences. These insights provide a foundation for strengthening policy alignment, professional development, and culturally grounded practices to improve ECE quality worldwide.

Abstract

This study investigates the role of digital leadership in strengthening quality culture across Islamic educational institutions at various levels, from early childhood to higher education. Employing a qualitative multi-site case study approach, this research collected data through interviews, observations, and document analysis to explore how technological adoption and value-based practices shape institutional effectiveness. The findings reveal that digital leadership significantly enhances decision-making, coordination, instructional innovation, and the use of data-driven tools for quality monitoring. Leaders actively utilize digital platforms to support participatory, evidence-based governance and quality monitoring. The integration of Islamic values, including trustworthiness, discipline, and ethical digital conduct, further reinforces the consistency and depth of quality culture implementation, creating a leadership model that is both technologically adaptive and morally grounded. Higher education and senior secondary institutions show the highest level of maturity in integrating digital leadership with quality culture. In contrast, early childhood and elementary levels exhibit foundational digital adoption supported by strong value formation. The study concludes that successful digital transformation in Islamic education requires visionary leaders who can integrate technological competence, continuous quality improvement, and spiritual values. Practical implications highlight the need for structured digital capacity-building, leadership training, and strategic policy support. Future research is recommended to examine broader comparative contexts and the potential scalability of the proposed model.

Abstract

This study investigates the need for a contextual learning model to instill religious moderation values in early childhood education. It aims to explore existing practices, identify gaps, and propose recommendations for developing an integrated instructional framework. Employing a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, classroom observations, and documentation at RA Pesantren Ilmu Al-Qur’an, East Kutai, Indonesia. The data were analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s interactive model, focusing on data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The study reveals that values of religious moderation, such as tolerance, inclusivity, and non-violence, are informally practiced through storytelling, modeling, and daily school routines. However, these values are not explicitly incorporated into formal curriculum documents, learning modules, or assessment systems. Teachers expressed a strong need for structured teaching resources, professional development, and assessment instruments aligned with the Merdeka Curriculum to support the systematic development of moderate character in children. The findings underscore the importance of developing a comprehensive, culturally relevant learning model for religious moderation that integrates curriculum design, teacher training, and learning media. Such a model should guide early childhood educators in nurturing tolerance and pluralism from a young age.
