Abstract

Stress and pain in premature babies can cause a decrease in oxygen saturation and changes in respiratory rate. Touch stimulation is one of the most advanced senses used by medical practitioners to soothe babies. Objective: This review aims to see the effectiveness of implementing infant massage therapy in increasing oxygen saturation in neonates. Method: A literature search was conducted on: PubMed, ScienceDirect, and CINAHL. The collected data is then extracted, synthesized, and presented as tables and narratives. The search strategy uses the keywords ("baby massage" OR "massage therapy") AND ("Neonatal") AND (Oxygen Saturation)). The articles used are from 2017 to 2023. Results: 757 neonates participated in 10 studies from 4 countries that met this review's criteria. The literature research design used was Quasi-experimental (n=4) and Randomized Controlled Trial (n=6). Conclusions: In this review, it was found that implementing massage therapy can increase the average percentage of oxygen saturation. This review also found that several studies agreed that massage therapy would be more effective when combined with the prone position. However, study results are still found to be inconsistent with these results. This may occur due to several factors including heterogeneity of implementation, differences in clinical conditions, and the lack of studies that specifically examine the effectiveness of implementing infant massage therapy on increasing oxygen saturation in neonates.

Abstract

One of the problems faced by nursing students is alexithymia, alexithymia is an emotion that can appear unintentionally, but there is a state of emotional processing deficit that causes a person to be unable to express his emotions or known as alexithymia. Internet use in Indonesia, which reaches 160 million people, has a link between addiction to internet use and the incidence of alexithymia. Objective: This study aims to find out the relationship between alexithymia and duration of internet use at the Faculty of Nursing, Universitas Padjadjaran. Method: The research population is active students of the Faculty of Nursing Universitas Padjadjaran. This type of research is quantitative with a descriptive correlation design. The sampling technique to be used is total sampling (n=590). The instrument in this study used an instrument, namely the Toronto Alexithymia Scale-20 (TAS-20). Data analysis used univariate and bivariate analysis. Bivariate analysis used spearman test. Results: The results of data analysis obtained sig. 0.045 < 0.05 with a positive correlation coefficient of 0.083, which means the strength of the relationship is weak. Individuals who experience depression and bullying can change their emotions for the better when using the internet and text messages than using drugs illegally and the internet is easy to access and easy to use. Research shows that the higher the level of internet or social media addiction, the higher the alexithymia score. Conclusion: There is a weak and positive relationship between alexithymia and duration of internet use at the Faculty of Nursing Universitas Padjadjaran.

Abstract

Time management is an important skill for nursing students to face complex challenges in their academic and clinical environments. However, although the importance of time management has been widely recognized, there is not yet an adequate understanding of the dynamics of time management in nursing students, especially in the Indonesian academic environment. This study aims to describe the picture of nursing students' time management and to explore factors that may influence their time management. Descriptive research methods were used using the Self-Regulated in Online Learning Questionnaire (SOL-Q) to collect data from 300 nursing students at Padjadjaran University. Teknik sampling yang digunakan adalah purposive sampling. Data analysis used univariate tests. The research results showed that the majority of nursing students had a high level of time management, namely 201 people (67%). However, some students reported a low level of time management, namely 99 people (33%). Factors that influence time management include a busy curriculum load, the demands of clinical practice, and balance between personal and academic life. Factors influencing time management included a dense curriculum, demands of clinical practice, and the balance between personal and academic life. Interventions tailored to address time management challenges should be developed to support students in optimizing their academic and personal responsibilities. The implication of this research is the importance of developing appropriate interventions to help students who experience difficulties in managing their time.

Abstract

Hemiparesis is a condition of weakness on one side of the body or the inability to move a limb on one side caused by stroke, head trauma, cerebral palsy and brain tumors. Weakness is a loss of muscle strength that can significantly reduce the ability to carry out daily activities. Hemiparesis, if not treated immediately, can cause permanent disability. One intervention that can be used to prevent muscle stiffness and increase muscle strength is Range of Motion (ROM) training. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of providing ROM intervention in cases of Space Occupying Lesion in children who experience hemiparesis. The method used is a case study design with a five process approach to nursing care starting from assessment, diagnosis, intervention planning, implementation and evaluation. The location of the case study was carried out in the Kemuning Room at RSUP Dr. Hasan Sadikin Bandung. The case obtained was an 11 year old girl being treated in the Kemuning Room at RSUP Dr. Hasan Sadikin Bandung since October 19 2020. The interventions provided are active ROM exercises on extremities that do not experience hemiparesis and passive ROM exercises on extremities that experience hemiparesis, for five days starting 26 October 2023 - 31 October 2023 with a duration of 20-25 minutes in the morning and afternoon. The results of the study showed that there was a significant increase in muscle strength on the third day of intervention, namely that the lower extremities experienced an increase, whereas before the intervention, 2/5 of the patient's muscle strength had movement but could not withstand gravity, up to 3/5, that is, there is movement with a full range of motion and is able to fight. gravity, and on the fourth and fifth days there was an increase in upper extremity muscle strength, namely from 2/5 to 3/5. In conclusion, ROM exercise intervention is effective and can be applied to children who experience hemiparesis.
