Abstract

A fuel cell converts the energy in the chemical reaction of a continuously supplied fuel and its oxidizing agent into electrical energy. Fuel cells are used in various industries, including the automotive industry. In this context, fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs) have emerged as a promising alternative that offers zero emissions and competitive performance. This work was conducted to obtain a fuel cell design and determine the fuel cell modeling that suits the needs of FCEVs. The Pahl and Beitz method with QFD is used. It was found that the type of fuel cell used is PEMFC (Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell) with platinum electrode material, and the fuel used is hydrogen on a small scale. Overall, fuel cell dimensions were 175 x 259 x 175 mm, and the number of fuel cell stacks that can be arranged is 35. With this geometry, the factor of safety value obtained at the stack fuel cell is 26, and at the end plate fuel cell 2.4, this value indicates that the PEMFC design is safe. Then, the output voltage is 50.55 V, and the output current is 25.27 A, so the power generated is 1.277 kW.

Abstract

Electric mobility mode could be a great opportunity to reduce emissions from the transportation sector. The future mobility calculator and electric car power demand, developed by Coalition for Urban Transitions and International Energy Agency, respectively, were used to analyze Indonesia’s shifting strategy toward electric mobility. It was shown that going to electric mobility will reduce 90% of Indonesia’s emissions from the transportation sector by the year 2050. Nevertheless, the charging infrastructure must be improved quickly to provide a proper ecosystem for electric mobility. Additionally, the electric vehicle waste management system is urgently needed soon. The success of shifting toward electric mobility not only benefits Indonesia’s environment but also strengthens its international credibility for sustainable development.

Abstract

One example of the current development of the plastic industry is Anti-Bacterial Plastic. Anti-bacterial plastic is a plastic that can store food well, even for a relatively long time compared to plastic in general. In the industrial world, companies are required to continue trying to find various ways and efforts to be able to compete with other companies that have the same business field. Defective products are products produced from a factory or industry where the product does not meet predetermined product quality standards. According to consumers, a good quality standard is if the product can be used according to consumer needs. However, if the product cannot be used according to consumer needs, then the product can be said to be a defective product. By analyzing defects in the antibacterial plastic manufacturing process, it can be useful to find problems that arise in the plastic packaging manufacturing process. The research method is carried out using a process of experimentation and measurement as well as checking defects visually. From the research results, three types of defects in anti-bacterial plastic products were found, namely eyelets, shrinkage and dimensional defects. These defects are characterized by spots on the plastic surface, wrinkles on the plastic surface, and dimensional differences in the plastic.

Abstract

The electric vehicle (EV) industries have grown; in 2023 EV sales increased by more than 30% compared to 2022. The central issue of this industry is the battery because of the cost and environmental problems.  This makes efficient battery operation and condition imperative. The electric vehicle lithium-ion batteries are highly temperature-dependent for optimal performance and longevity. A cooling system is needed to maintain the temperature of the lithium-ion battery within the optimal temperature range. This study proposes nanofluid cooling based on Cellulose Nanocrystals (CNC) inside the wavy channel tube. Other fluid cooling, such as air and water, are compared. Three-dimensional (3D) transient simulation is performed by varying the cooling fluid and mass flow rate. On the other hand, experiments were conducted to validate the simulation's conformity to the battery module's temperature. The performance of the cooling fluid inside the wavy channel effectively keeps the battery heat dissipation and temperature uniformity. The nanofluid can maintain the temperature of the battery module at its optimal temperature (below 40°C), even with the lowest flow rate (5×10-4 kg/s).

Abstract

This paper explores the concept of digitalization in critical sailing lines to manage ship-generated waves (SGW), with a focus on fishing boats. Indonesia, as a maritime nation, faces challenges due to the environmental impact of SGW, such as riverbank erosion, habitat disruption, and damage to marine infrastructure. The proposed digital framework integrates real-time environmental data, including tidal conditions, river currents, and water depth, with vessel parameters like speed and GPS tracking. This system aims to provide accessible information through websites and smartphone applications, enabling safer and more efficient navigation. The results highlight the importance of digitalization in enhancing maritime safety, reducing environmental damage, and improving operational efficiency for fishermen and port operators.

Abstract

Maintenance on the turbine must always be carried out, because if one component of the turbine engine is damaged, it will affect the entire performance of the turbine engine. The function of bearing lubrication in turbines is to prevent direct contact between the bearing and the turbine shaft. Therefore, lubrication is needed. Bearing lubrication on the turbine is a very important issue so that the turbine should not be rotated without lubrication will cause material damage. Preventive maintenance of turbines can be pursued by implementing QCC PM. Adding a portable purifier when excessive water content occurs, adjusting the pressure steam seal serves to prevent main steam from entering the bearing area which can cause high water content due to mixing of oil with water. Making a steam block serves to prevent steam from entering the bearing area lubricated by VG 46 medium oil, causing high water content. And routine maintenance to check the mesh aims to assess the feasibility of the mesh and the suitability of the needs of the cleanliness purifier oil system which can be seen from the CBM data, namely tribology monitoring.
