Abstract

In the era of globalization, national identity poses a unique challenge, particularly for Indonesian diaspora children living far from their homeland. The children at Sanggar Bimbingan Sungai Mulia 5 (SB SM 5) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, are mostly migrant children growing up in environments with minimal exposure to Indonesian culture. This condition risks weakening their emotional connection to national identity and the cultural heritage of Nusantara. This international community service program aims to enhance the national awareness of children aged 10–14 years at SB SM 5 by introducing the cultural heritage of Borobudur Temple as a symbol of national civilization and traditional Javanese games such as cublak-cublak suweng. The methods used include participatory approaches, edutainment, and experiential learning, designed to create an interactive and enjoyable learning experience. The children participated in activities such as visual presentations, storytelling, hands-on traditional games, and reflections on national values. The results demonstrated an increase in knowledge about Borobudur from 10% to 90% and a high level of enthusiasm for traditional games. The children not only gained an understanding of Indonesian culture but also felt a sense of pride and emotional closeness to their homeland. As a follow-up, plans include the development of digital modules, regular cultural classes, and collaboration with diaspora communities to ensure the sustainability of this program. This initiative successfully established an emotional connection between diaspora children and Indonesia's cultural identity, making it a model applicable to other diaspora communities

Abstract

This study evaluates the effectiveness of the “15-Minute Daily Literacy Program” (PLH-15) in improving reading-comprehension skills among second-grade elementary students. A quasi-experimental, single-group pre-test–post-test design was implemented at SD Bani Saleh, Bekasi. Thirty-two pupils were selected through purposive sampling. For eight weeks, participants engaged in 15-minute silent-reading sessions each morning before lessons, using grade-appropriate materials encompassing fiction, nonfiction, and illustrated informational texts. Data were gathered via the national-curriculum reading-comprehension test, reading-interest observation sheets, and brief teacher interviews. Statistical analysis revealed a significant rise in mean comprehension scores from 58.4 to 76.1 (p < 0.01), with an effect size of Cohen’s d = 0.98, indicating a strong impact. Observations recorded a 42 % increase in library book loans and greater participation in classroom reading discussions. Teacher interviews corroborated quantitative findings, noting heightened enthusiasm and confidence when students answered text-based questions. The study recommends institutionalizing the PLH-15 routine, expanding leveled reading collections, and training teachers in literacy strategies. These results underscore that a simple yet consistent intervention can strengthen early-literacy foundations and support the attainment of Indonesia’s “Profil Pelajar Pancasila” competencies at the primary-school level. Keywords: Daily Literacy, Reading Comprehension, Second-Grade Students, Merdeka Curriculum

Abstract

This research was motivated by difficulties when conveying mathematical ideas and when working on essay questions, there were some students who just counted the numbers without knowing the meaning of the problem or without knowing the meaning of each step of solving the problem. The purpose of this study was to determine whether or not there was an influence of parenting on students' communication skills in learning mathematics in class III MI Gedanganak, East Ungaran District, Semarang Regency. The type of research used is quantitative research. The research subjects were class III students of MI Gedanganak, totaling 120 students with 30 samples. The variables of this study are parenting style and students' communication skills in learning mathematics. The data collection technique is using a questionnaire. Then the results of the data obtained were analyzed using arithmetic T test. Based on the results of the research and after the data was analyzed using the T-test, there was an influence of parenting style on students' communication skills in learning mathematics. This is indicated by the results of the calculated T-test which is greater than the T distribution table (2.750 > 2.042), which means that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. This means that there is an influence of parenting style and students' communication skills in learning mathematics. Keywords: parenting, parents, communication skills, students in learning Mathematics

Abstract

Low mathematics learning outcomes, low student learning activity in learning mathematics and low teacher skills in teaching because the teacher only uses the lecture learning model. This type of research is classroom action research. This study aims to improve the learning outcomes of mathematics in fraction material in class III students of Lerep 04 Public Elementary School in the 2022/2023 academic year through the application of an ethnomathematics-laden contextual model. The subjects of this study were 21 students of class III SDN Lerep 04, consisting of 8 boys and 13 girls. This research was conducted on 23 February - 4 March 2023 at SDN Lerep 04. The research instruments were (1) tests to measure class III student learning outcomes, (2) non-tests in the form of observation sheets to observe teacher teaching skills and student learning activities in learning. Data analysis techniques using quantitative and qualitative data analysis. The results of the study show that the ethnomathematics-loaded contextual loaded model can improve student learning outcomes. This is evidenced by the acquisition in the first cycle of learning outcomes of 53% (11 students) completing KKM, teaching teacher skills 2.32 (good enough), and student learning activities 57% (12 students). Cycle II learning outcomes by 67% (14 students) complete KKM, teacher skills 2.72 (Good), and student learning activities by 71% (15 students). Cycle III learning outcomes were 86% (18 students) complete KKM, teacher teaching skills were 3.36 in the Very Good category, as well as student learning activities 85% (18 students) in the Good category.

Abstract

The game is an interesting activity to study. Not only limited as a fun activity and only done by children, the current dimension of the game is seen as having great potential to achieve learning goals in a fun and meaningful way. This program of implementing games in learning, which is often referred to as gamification, provides a bridge for two different points of view and often creates conflicts between children or students and their parents or teachers. Adults often argue between learning activities and children's play. Although over time, the paradigm has begun to move to become more lenient towards games, and even data has been generated about the benefits of playing in children's learning. But unfortunately the data is still too little for teachers to start implementing games in their learning in the classroom. They need a more complete concept to compose this game-based learning. So this paper provides an overview of the gamification process in learning. It is hoped that the great potential in this game can be utilized by educational practitioners to create effective, fun and meaningful learning.

Abstract

Indonesia is known for its social diversity, which includes ethnicities, cultures, religions, and customs. The principle of "Bhineka Tunggal Ika" reflects the spirit of unity in diversity, despite significant differences. Cultural changes in Indonesia are influenced by globalization, which accelerates shifts in traditions, especially among the younger generation, particularly Indonesian children living abroad. These children often struggle to understand Indonesian culture due to limited exposure to cultural education. This study aims to explore how Dongklak Dance learning influences students' perceptions of Indonesian culture at the Indonesian School of Kuala Lumpur (SIKL). Dongklak Dance, originating from East Java, embodies values of cooperation, togetherness, and mutual assistance, and is expected to introduce students to the richness of Indonesian culture and strengthen their emotional connection to their cultural identity. The results of the study indicate that Dongklak Dance learning has a positive impact on students' perceptions of Indonesian culture, enhancing their pride and understanding of national traditions.
