Abstract

Trichoderma sp. membantu menyediakan unsur hara bagi tanaman dengan mempercepat terjadinya  dekomposisi senyawa organik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pertumbuhan bibit jeruk siam pontianak pada tanah gambut dengan pemberian inokulan T. harzianum (R3). Desain penelitian menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) perlakuan sebanyak lima, masing-masing empat ulangan. Variabel pengamatan berupa tinggi tanaman, jumlah daun, berat basah dan berat kering tanaman. Berdasarkan uji analisi sidik ragam, pemberian inokulan T. harzianum (R3) tidak memiliki pengaruh nyata pada tinggi tanaman dan jumlah daun, akan tetapi memiliki pengaruh nyata pada berat basah dan berat kering tanaman. Pemberian 50 g inokulan T. harzianum (R3) merupakan dengan perlakuan terbaik untuk pertumbuhan bibit jeruk siam pontianak.

Abstract

Improving teachers' competence is one of the objectives of the subject teachers' group (MGMP). One important competency that teachers is the ability to publish scientific papers. Statistical data analysis and data visualisation are important components in scientific publications, but these two things are challenging. This program aims to improve the knowledge and skills of teachers who are members of MGMP Biology SMA in Pontianak, in statistical data analysis and data visualisation through training in the use of R and RStudio (Posit). In this course, we delivered presentations and demonstration of the use of R and RStudio. At the end of demonstration activities, each participant carried out independent completion of the use of R and RStudio. This training activity was attended by 16 participants from several high schools in Pontianak. The results showed that there was an increase in the knowledge and skills of the participants based on the results of the pre-test and post-test assessments.

Abstract

Orchids are plants that have been cultivated because they have high economic value. Orchid cultivation is also done to maintain its sustainability. Orchid cultivation requires special knowledge to produce good growth. This educational activity aims to provide knowledge and skills about orchid cultivation for Rasau Jaya Kubu Raya youth group. The method of implementing this activity includes preparation, implementation, and evaluation. Preparation includes coordination with partners regarding the schedule, location, tools, and materials needed. The implementation of activities consists of the delivery of material on the prospects of orchid cultivation, the stages of cultivation, demonstrations, and practices of planting and crossing orchids. Evaluation was carried out by filling out a questionnaire. The knowledge and skills of participants in this educational activity increased from 70.00% who did not know to 40% who knew and 60.00% who were very knowledgeable through the delivery of materials, demonstrations, and practices. This training was beneficial (70.00%) and inspiring (100%). Participants hope that this educational activity can be practiced by themselves and inspire them to open an orchid cultivation business.

Abstract

Oyster mushrooms are an agricultural product that has very promising prospects. The high nutritionalcontent and selling value of oyster mushrooms means that oyster mushroom cultivation needs to beimproved. Knowledge and skills about oyster mushroom cultivation need to be possessed so that thecultivation process can take place and produce optimal profits, especially for beginners. This educationalactivity was carried out to increase knowledge and skills regarding oyster mushroomcultivation for youth groups in Rasau Jaya Tiga, Rasau Jaya, Kubu Raya. The method of implementingthis educational activity is in the form of training with the delivery of theory and practice and evaluationby filling out a questionnaire. This oyster mushroom cultivation educational activity can increaseknowledge and skills for Rajati youth who initially did not know (81.82%) to know (54.55%) and are very knowledgeable (45.45%). This activity is 81.82% very useful and inspirational reaching 90.90%. Rajati youth hope that the results of this activity can be practiced or become an idea for creating a business in oyster mushroom cultivation both personally and in groups.

Abstract

Tukong chicken, also known as rumpless chicken due to the absence of a tailbone, is one of the indigenous chicken breeds in Indonesia currently at risk of extinction. Due to its scarcity, genetic information on the Tukong chicken remains limited, and its potential has not been fully explored. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the genetic external characteristics of the Tukong chickens. Data were collected from 205 chickens (52 males; 153 females) raised in Landak and Bengkayang Regency, West Kalimantan. The varieties are based on feather color, plumage color, feather pattern, feather flicker, comb shape, and shank color. The data were used to analyze the rate of the original gene, the frequency of autosomal genes, sex-linked genes, feather pattern, introgression rate, gene frequency, and expected heterozygosity. The majority of the Tukong chickens had colored feathers (88.78%), columbian feather type (47.80%), plain feather pattern (61.46%), silver feather flicker (54.63%), yellow-white shank (62.44%), and pea comb (77.07%), which were controlled by ii, ee, bb, SS, IdId, and P_ genes, respectively. The introgression rate from exotic breeds into Tukong chicken is 53.2%, with the original gene at 46.8%, while the average expected heterozygosity was 0.416±0.025, indicating a high level of genetic diversity of the traits. This observed variation in qualitative morphological characteristics might benefit both the conservation and utilization of the Tukong chicken.

Abstract

Buah naga dapat diperbanyak secara generatif menggunakan biji. Salah satu cara yang dapat digunakan untuk mempercepat proses perkecambahan adalah dengan merendam biji menggunakan zat pengatur tumbuh (zpt). Ekstrak tomat merupakan zpt yang dapat mempercepat perkecambahan biji. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh konsentrasi ekstrak tomat dan lama waktu perendaman terhadap perkecambahan biji buah naga. Bahan yang digunakan pada penelitian ini, yaitu aquades, biji buah naga (Hylocereus polyrhizus), ekstrak buah tomat (Solanum lycopersicum L. var. intan). Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimental dengan menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) faktorial yang terdiri dari dua faktor, yaitu konsentrasi ekstrak tomat dan waktu perendaman. Faktor pertama, konsentrasi ekstrak tomat (T), yaitu terdiri dari Kontrol (T0), 4% (T1), 6% (T2), 8% (T3), dan 10% (T4). Faktor kedua lama perendaman (P), yaitu Kontrol (P0), 6 Jam (P1), 12 Jam (P2), 24 Jam (P3), 48 Jam (P4). Penelitian dilakukan di Laboratorium Biologi Umum, Jurusan Biologi, Fakultas Matematika dan Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam, Universitas Tanjungpura, Pontianak. Penelitian dilakukan pada bulan Agustus hingga September 2022. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa waktu perendaman 48 jam merupakan waktu terbaik pada parameter persentase perkecambahan (74,8%), waktu muncul kecambah (3,96 hst), dan panjang radikula (0,29 cm). Konsentrasi ekstrak tomat 10% merupakan konsentrasi terbaik pada parameter waktu muncul kecambah. Kombinasi konsentrasi ekstrak tomat dan lama waktu perendaman memberikan hasil tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap semua parameter pengamatan.

Abstract

Ekosistem padang lamun merupakan habitat bagi ikan dan biota perairan lainnya.  Berbagai jenis penyu juga menjadikan daerah padang lamun sebagai daerah mencari makan, khususnya di perairan Pulau Lemukutan, Kalimantan Barat. Tutupan lamun, khususnya jenis Thalassia hempricii di perairan Dusun Karang Utara, Pulau Lemukutan belum diketahui. Data mengenai tutupan lamun ini akan dijadikan sebagai acuan dalam pengelolaan wilayah perairan tersebut. Penelitian dilakukan pada 4 stasiun di perairan Dusun Karang Utara, Pulau Lemukutan, Kalimantan Barat. Stasiun pengamatan memiliki panjang 50 m tegak lurus terhadap garis pantai. Setiap stasiun dibagi menjadi 5 plot transek. Pemilihan plot transek dilakukan dengan metode purposive random sampling. Transek kuadrat yang digunakan adalah berukuran 1 x 1 m dengan setiap pixelnya berukuran 20 cm x 20 cm. Hasil nilai rata-rata persentase tutupan lamun pada stasiun 1, 2, 3 dan 4 adalah 2,68%; 2,34%, 11,4% dan 9,8% secara berurutan. Kondisi persentase tutupan lamun Thalassia hempricii di Perairan dusun Karang Utara, Pulau Lemukutan ini termasuk dalam kategori sedikit. Parameter fisika-kimia air laut di Perairan Dusun Karang Utara, Pulau Lemukutan adalah arus 0,2 m/s, suhu 30,5oC, salinitas 32o/oo , kedalaman 0,5-1 m, dan pH 8,5.

Abstract

The presence of sharp needle-shaped hairs on the leaf surface of the ornamental begonia plants is recognized as a trichome that has not been widely studied. This research aimed to determine the characteristics of trichomes of Begonia’s leaves in Ambon. The plant material used was the Begonia species that was explored in Ambon and private collections. Identification of plant species, scientific and trade names was carried out by comparison of the sample plants' characteristics with online data and references. Trichome observations were carried out using the whole mount method with 400x magnification using the Optilab camera of the Olympus microscope. Trichome’s shape and type were described based on the obtained pictures, while number and length were the average of 10 fields of view, from 3 replications, and displayed as mean ± standard deviation (mean ± SD).  The 21 Begonia species were collected, and their trichome was characterized. In general, the Begonia’s trichome consists of structure like base, median or body and tip, uniseriate and multiseriate types, needle or cone shape, and glandular or non glandular. The average length of trichomes range from 29.80-233.47 µm.  Based on these results, it can be concluded that the trichomes on the leaves of Begonia ornamental plants in Ambon City have variations in type, shape, number and size. This result is expected to be new information or references for those who interest in developing Begonia species, especially in classifying begonias based on their trichomes characteristics.
