Abstract

Vocabulary plays a pivotal role in English learning as it forms the foundation for developing core language skills. However, many elementary students struggle with vocabulary acquisition due to limited exposure and the use of less effective instructional methods. This research aimed to examine the effectiveness of picture media as an interactive learning tool in enhancing the vocabulary mastery of fifth-grade students at Kofalagadi Elementary School, Menui District. A pre-experimental method with a one-group pretest–posttest design was applied, involving 12 students as participants. The instrument used was a vocabulary test consisting of 20 items in the form of matching, multiple-choice, and jumbled-word questions. The findings showed that the students’ mean score improved from 65.83 in the pre-test to 95.00 in the post-test, with a mean difference of 29.17 points. The paired samples t-test indicated a significance value of 0.000 (p 0.05), confirming that there was a significant improvement in students’ vocabulary mastery after the intervention. These results suggest that picture media, when applied interactively, can serve as an effective instructional strategy to support vocabulary learning, particularly at the elementary school level. Furthermore, this study provides practical insights for teachers in selecting engaging media and demonstrates that picture-based strategies can be effectively integrated into classroom practice to foster student motivation and vocabulary development.

Abstract

This paper shows the effectiveness of technology-based media designed for listening skills. The effectiveness of different technology-based media is gaining importance to students and teachers. They are the main subjects in this paper because the problem that arises at school where learning English as their second language addresses the decreased potential for the succession of learning. This study mentioned the difficulties in English as they struggle to reach success learning even there are other materials to use, like media belonging to not technology-based. That is why technology-based media was introduced to students and teachers. The researchers on different studies have taken by the chosen media recognized the ability to listen for the learning of students and the teaching of teachers in their language learning. Listening could increase the potential of learning English by hearing it through devices played by technology. The paper highlights five media for listening skills that are operating through technology. They involve mobile-based media, multimedia technology, radio news, podcast application, and mobile-based audiobooks. All of them result in the practical listening skills of teachers and primarily to students.

Abstract

The social media of Instagram, one of the most used mediums to connect online, is used to build relations and correlations among individuals to support long-distance interaction. Educators and researchers often apply it in global contexts for educational purposes like teaching and researching English vocabulary learning. Moreover, vocabulary is essential in order to enhance EFL learner’s skills. This study presents an analysis of Instagram usage in learning English Vocabulary. The purpose is to analyze how Instagram can assist EFL students in learning vocabulary and investigate whether or not Instagram improves vocabulary comprehension. The authors also review journals taken from several trustworthy sources like Research Gate, Turkish Online Journal of Educational Technology, Arab International English Journal, Springer link, Atlantis press, and Science Direct.

Abstract

The nature influence of speaking anxiety on foreign language (FL) learning settings has been established. In addition, research acknowledges the relevance of speaking performance in affecting individual predisposition to experience anxious feelings. However, few studies examine the Indonesian college students' anxiety influencing factors, mainly when speaking English. Data strategies employed a parallel design combining quantitative and qualitative methods mixing a closed-ended Likert-scale questionnaire with an in-depth interview. Twenty-eight college students responded online via Google Form to the questionnaire, while in addition, the in-depth interviews lasted 45-60 minutes with six college students. The results indicate that learning situations in classroom activities revolve around how teachers teach, college students' self-confidence, belief in language learning experiences, and excessive learning material are nature-related prominence factors of college students' anxiety in speaking English. In contrast, a lack of college students' preparation has no effect. Examined are the means through which this research contributes to the advancement of understanding and comprehension of previously unidentified components that influence college students' speaking anxiety.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Breast milk is the best source of nutrition for babies which provides many benefits for children's health, growth and development. The success of a breastfeeding mother depends on many things. One of them is the level of knowledge of mothers, fathers and families regarding breast milk and breastfeeding. In Indonesia, there are still various myths, beliefs and traditions passed down from generation to generation regarding breastfeeding that are not in accordance with scientific evidence. The aim of this research was to find out whether there was a relationship between maternal anxiety and husband's support and maternal self-efficacy for breastfeeding at the Buah Hati Jambi Clinic. The design used in this research was cross-sectional to see the relationship between maternal anxiety and husband's support with maternal self-efficacy for breastfeeding in the past. The population in this study is the population in this study is postpartum mothers in the first three months postpartum. The sample for this study was 45 postpartum mothers in the first three months postpartum. The sampling technique uses proportionate stratified random sampling. Analysis of research data is univariate and bivariate analysis. The results of the study explained that based on the Fisher's exact test, it was found that there was a relationship between maternal anxiety and husband's support with maternal self-efficacy for breastfeeding at the Buah Hati Jambi Clinic. The conclusion of the research is that there is a relationship between maternal anxiety and husband's support with maternal self-efficacy for breastfeeding at the Buah Hati Jambi Clinic. Keywords: Anxiety, Support Husband, Self-Efficacy, Breast-Feed  ABSTRAK ASI merupakan sumber nutrisi terbaik bagi bayi yang memberikan banyak manfaat untuk kesehatan, pertumbuhan, maupun perkembangan anak. Keberhasilan seorang ibu menyusui tergantung banyak hal. Salah satunya adalah tingkat pengetahuan ibu, ayah, dan keluarga mengenai ASI dan menyusui. Di Indonesia masih sering terdapat berbagai mitos, kepercayaan, tradisi turun temurun mengenai menyusui yang tidak sesuai dengan bukti ilmiah. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah ada hubungan kecemasan ibu dan dukungan suami dengan efikasi diri ibu untuk menyusui di Klinik Buah Hati Jambi. Desain yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah cross-sectional untuk melihat hubungan kecemasan ibu dan dukungan suami dengan efikasi diri ibu untuk Menyusui pada masa yang telah berlalu. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah ibu nifas dalam tiga bulan pertama postpartum. Sampel penelitian ini adalah Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah semua ibu nifas dalam tiga bulan pertama postpartum sebanyak 45 orang. Tehnik pengambilan sampel menggunakan proportionate stratified random sampling. Analisa data penelitian adalah anlias univariat dan bivariat. Hasil penelitian menjelaskan bahwa berdasarkan uji fisher’s exact di dapatkan bahwa ada hubungan kecemasan ibu dan dukungan suami dengan efikasi diri ibu untuk menyusui di Klinik Buah Hati Jambi. Kesimpulan penelitian adalah ada hubungan kecemasan ibu dan dukungan suami dengan efikasi diri ibu untuk menyusui di Klinik Buah Hati Jambi. Kata Kunci: Kecemasan, Dukungan Suami, Efikasi Diri, Menyusui

Abstract

In Indonesia’s elementary education, English vocabulary acquisition remains challenging due to limited exposure and traditional methods. Digital flashcards, recognized for their interactivity and accessibility, offer a potential solution, yet their efficacy in low-resource settings is underexplored. This study investigates the effectiveness of Canva-based digital flashcards in enhancing vocabulary comprehension among Grade I students at SD Negeri 50 Kendari, a school with minimal English proficiency. A pre-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design was employed with 24 students. Pretest and posttest data (10 multiple-choice questions) were analyzed using SPSS 16.0, including paired samples t-tests (α = 0.05). Results showed a significant increase in mean scores from 21.25 (pretest) to 46.25 (posttest) (p = 0.000), confirming digital flashcards’ effectiveness. However, external factors (e.g., motivation) were noted as limitations. The study underscores digital flashcards’ utility in resource-constrained contexts and advocates for further research on long-term retention, multimodal integration, and adaptive technologies. Practical contributions include a replicable model for teachers using Canva to create low-cost, engaging materials.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Merokok salah satu masalah kesehatan utama yang sering ditemukan pada masyarakat di dunia termasuk pada remaja di semua wilayah di Propinsi Aceh, Indonesia. Intervensi peningkatan kemampuan menolak rokok (tobacco refusal skill) dianggap penting bagi remaja dan dipercayai dapat memberikan hasil positif untuk pencegahan dan/atau penghentian merokok pada remaja dibanyak negara di dunia. Tujuan pengabdian ini adalah untuk mengembangkan ketrampilan dan melatih kemampuan menolak rokok (tobacco refusal skill) remaja dengan benar dan berbasis bukti. Metode kegiatan dimulai dengan pemilihan wilayah dan seleksi remaja peserta, implementasi kegiatan dan evaluasi efektivitas program, dan terminasi. Pengkajian awal (pre-test) dan pengkajian akhir (post-test) dilakukan pada 14 remaja terpilih dari sebuah Gampong (Desa) di Aceh Besar dengan memberikan melalui google form untuk evaluasi efektivitas kegiatan yang dilakukan. Implementasi berupa edukasi tentang rokok dan bahayanya serta demontrasi dan latihan refusal skill dalam beberapa scenario diberikan kepada remaja peserta program. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pengetahuan dan ketrampilan menolak rokok remaja setelah mengikuti kegiatan yang diberikan. Pelatihan kemampuan menolak rokok (tobacco refusal skill) terbukti memberikan hasil positif untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan strategi merokok bagi remaja. Kepada pihak desa, Puskesmas dan tenaga kesehatan direkomendasikan untuk menggunakan tobacco refusal skill dalam kegiatan pencegahan perilaku merokok pada remaja. Kata Kunci: Refusal Skill, Tembakau, Perilaku Merokok, Remaja  ABSTRACT Smoking is one of the main health issues commonly found in societies around the world, including among teenagers in all regions of Aceh Province, Indonesia. Interventions to improve refusal skills are considered important for teenagers and believed to have positive impact in the prevention and/or cessation of smoking among teenagers in many countries abroad. The current community service program aims to develop and install an appropriate and evidence-based tobacco refusal skill on teenagers.Program Intervention method was started with the selection of intervention setting and participants, followed by implementation intervention, program effectiveness evaluation, and termination. An initial assessment (pre-test) and after intervention completion evaluation (post-test) were administered to the 14 selected students from one village in Aceh Besar using  a google form to determine the effectiveness of the administed program intervention. Program implementation included education about smoking and its dangers as well as demonstration and tobacco refusal skill training in several scenerios were given to program participants. The evaluation results showed an increase in teenagers’knowledge and tobacco refusal skill after the program intervention completion. A tobacco refusal skills training has proven to have positive impacts in enhancing knowledge and strategies regarding smoking among teenagers. It is recommended the village authorities, health centers, and healthcare workers to utilize tobacco refusal skills in their smoking prevention smoking behaviors among adolescents. Keywords: Refusal Skill, Tobacco, Smoking Behavior, Adolescents

Abstract

This study aims to explore the dynamics of communication skills of Indonesian students’ lived experiences during the International Credit Transfer (ICT) program in the Philippines. We apply the phenomenology method with a stimulated-recall interview to find out students' lived experiences to recall the communication skill dynamics while studying at Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology in the Philippines for one semester. 3 students (1 female and 2 male students) as participants were selected purposively. Data was analyzed thematically following six phases, 1) become familiar with the data, 2) generate initial codes, 3) search for themes, 4) review themes, 5) define themes, and 6) write-up. The result of the research demonstrated that after taking part in the ICT program, Indonesian students' communication abilities increased in three areas: verbal, written, and social communication skills. Verbal communication skills involve idea presentation, overcoming language barriers, collaborative presentation, and teamwork. While written communication skills include aspects of using social media for collaboration, assignment models, and active communication involvement. Besides, social communication skills include reaching a consensus, body language communication, cultural sensitivity, and language learning. All these information provides a significant communication skills impact enhancement that offers Indonesian students a valuable opportunity to enhance their communication skills verbally, written, and social through various classroom activities and interactions in the ICT program.

Abstract

This study aims to look into the social experiences of students in the seventh semester of Universitas Muhammadiyah Kendari's English language education program who have completed the International Credit Transfer program at Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology in the Philippines. A phenomenological research design was used to conduct the study. The participants of this study were four students. Two of the four students were male, while the other two were female. Semi-structured interviews were conducted face-to-face with each participant. The findings showed that the ICT program provided the students with valuable experiences that broadened their perspectives, improved communication skills, and enhanced their ability to accept and adapt to diverse social environments.

Abstract

Kampus mengajar is one of flagships of Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka managed by indonesian ministry of education, culture, or higher education. The purpose of this study was to students’ perceptions of teaching competence about pre-service teachers during kampus mengajar program batch 6 by using quantitative descriptive design. A questionnaire with a Likert scale was used as a quantitative study to determine students' perceptions. Data collection was carried out by distributing questionnaire and observation to 62 students who took English class. The result of this study indicate that participants have a positive perception of Kampus Mengajar program to improve their competence as pre-service teachers. The perception of teaching competence was influenced by four aspects of pedagogic competence, personality competence, internet, communication, and technology competence, and Soft skill development. It reached 82% of pedagogic competence, 87% in personality competence, 99% in ICT, and 50% in soft skill development. Futhermore, the dominant aspect or indicator from the students’ perception of pre-service teachers in teaching competence is indicator 4. Kampus Mengajar program is highly recommended to be implemented in teachers by students and should be encouraged by each universities.
