Abstract

This study uses a quantitative method with an associative approach to examine the influence of knowledge sharing, employee engagement, and workplace spirituality on employee performance. The research was conducted at the Kualuh Selatan Subdistrict Office, Labuhanbatu Utara Regency, involving 35 respondents. Data were collected through questionnaires that had been tested for validity and reliability. The validity test confirmed that all instrument items were appropriate, and a Cronbach’s Alpha value of 0.708 indicated good internal consistency. Data analysis was carried out using multiple linear regression to determine the partial and simultaneous influence of the three independent variables on employee performance. The findings reveal that knowledge sharing, employee engagement, and workplace spirituality all have a positive and significant effect on performance. Employee engagement was found to have the most dominant influence, followed by knowledge sharing and workplace spirituality. The F-test showed the regression model is simultaneously significant, and the coefficient of determination (R²) value of 0.621 indicates that the model explains 62.1% of the variation in employee performance. These results highlight the importance of enhancing work engagement, knowledge collaboration, and spiritual values to improve performance in public sector organizations.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of business management, government support, and business networks on the sustainability of culinary micro and small enterprises (MSEs) in Serdang Bedagai Regency. The background of this study is based on the importance of the MSE sector in supporting the regional economy, but many business actors still face obstacles in terms of management, access to government support, and minimal business networks. This study uses a quantitative approach with an associative method and multiple linear regression analysis techniques. Data collection was carried out through questionnaires to 100 culinary MSE respondents selected using purposive sampling techniques. The results of the study show that partially, business management, government support, and business networks have a positive and significant effect on MSE sustainability. Simultaneously, the three variables contribute 97.1% to business sustainability. The business management variable is the most dominant factor in influencing MSE sustainability. This finding strengthens the theory of strategic management and sustainability, and is in line with several previous studies that emphasize the importance of managerial aspects, institutional support, and network collaboration in maintaining the existence of MSEs. This research provides important implications for business actors, local governments, and related parties in designing integrated strategies to strengthen the sustainability of culinary MSMEs in a sustainable manner.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the recovery strategy for water transportation modes after the KM Sinar Bangun tragedy. Lake Toba Harbor has weaknesses that have been identified through observation and primary data studies. Water transportation is a mode of transportation that uses water as its main route, such as rivers, lakes, seas, or canals, to transport goods and passengers from one place to another. Aspects that are weaknesses of KM Sinar Bangun as a restoration mode of water transportation in Lake Toba include, among other things, the problem of incompatibility between the flow of ship visits and loading and unloading, problems with infrastructure and facilities in the port, problems with the age of port buildings. Based on the results of the SWOT analysis, it is concluded that the performance of Lake Toba Pier as a shipping facility on Lake Toba is in quadrant I with position (1.5; 2.25). The strategy for recovering water transportation modes after the KM Sinar Bangun tragedy occurred is an SO (strength opportunity) strategy. The SO strategy is strengthening the function of restoring the mode of transportation as a means of shipping and income for the local community, developing the Lake Toba area to maximize the function of restoring the mode of water transportation.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the bancassurance strategy in increasing sales of sharia life insurance products through a case study of collaboration between PT Prudential Life Assurance Unit Syariah and Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) in Medan City. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews with Financial Service Consultants (FSC), BSI marketing staff, and direct observation of marketing activities in the field. The results of the study indicate that the implemented sharia bancassurance strategy includes placing FSCs in BSI branch offices, an educational approach to customers, product integration (bundling), and utilizing BSI's customer database for targeting. This approach has been proven to be able to increase customer understanding of the benefits of sharia life insurance and has contributed significantly to increasing the number of policies and premium contributions received each month. However, the implementation of this strategy is not without challenges. Among them are the referral-based work system that makes FSC dependent on bank staff in reaching potential customers, as well as the low literacy of the community regarding sharia concepts and values in insurance. To overcome this, it is necessary to increase internal synergy, regular training for marketers, and a sustainable and comprehensive sharia financial literacy.

Abstract

This study investigates the determinants of public intention to participate in digital waqf through the lens of the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB), with trust in the Indonesian Waqf Board (BWI) serving as a moderating variable. The analysis explores four key factors: attitude, subjective norms, perceived behavioral control, and trust in digital waqf management institutions. A quantitative approach employing Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) was applied. Data were collected via questionnaires distributed to 200 Muslim respondents in North Sumatra Province. The findings indicate that attitude, subjective norms, perceived behavioral control, and trust significantly and positively influence the intention to engage in digital waqf. Moreover, trust was found to moderate the relationships between attitude and intention, as well as perceived behavioral control and intention, but not between subjective norms and intention. These results underscore the pivotal role of trust, alongside psychological factors, in strengthening public willingness to contribute to digital waqf. The study’s implications highlight the need to enhance digital waqf literacy, ensure transparent governance, and reinforce BWI’s role in fostering public trust. Such measures are expected to boost community participation in digital waqf, particularly in North Sumatra, thereby advancing Islamic philanthropy and the Islamic economy in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study examines how Mosques in Medan manage waqf funds to support productive, empowering economic programs for the ummah. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews with mosque administrators, waqf practitioners, and related stakeholders, and analyzed using NVivo 12 to identify patterns, themes, and Mosque typologies in cash waqf management. The findings reveal that while many mosques in Medan have initiated cash waqf collection, few have successfully channeled these funds into sustainable economic empowerment initiatives. Key determinants of effective management include institutional structure, congregational engagement, collaboration with Islamic financial institutions, and digital support. Theoretically, this study contributes to the development of an integrative framework that positions mosques as socio-economic institutions within the broader discourse of Islamic economics. This study contributes to Islamic social finance literature by formalizing mosque typology as an institutional variable, thereby strengthening the conceptual link between mosque governance and economic empowerment. Practically, it proposes a typology-based Mosque replication model to enhance the sustainability and scalability of cash waqf-driven economic empowerment. This integrative approach offers a pathway for transforming mosques into centers of community-based economic justice and prosperity.

Abstract

ABSTRACT - Zakat is a fundamental instrument in promoting Islamic economic justice and alleviating poverty. In Aceh, Indonesia’s only province with the authority to implement Islamic law through public policy, this role is institutionalized via Qanun No. 3/2021. This study examines the effectiveness of zakat management under this regulation in fostering economic empowerment. Adopting a qualitative-descriptive approach, the research integrates SWOT analysis with maqasid shariah principles to align spiritual objectives with socio-economic outcomes. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with key stakeholders, including Baitul Mal officials, muzakki, mustahik, and Islamic economists in Banda Aceh and Langsa, supported by field observations and secondary data from Baitul Mal and BPS Aceh (2023–2024). Thematic analysis using SWOT quadrants and triangulation revealed that the strong legal framework has increased public trust and zakat collection from IDR 85 billion to IDR 90 billion. However, only 6% of the estimated potential (IDR 1.4–1.5 trillion) is realized due to limited human resources and outdated technology. Opportunities include digital transformation and alignment with the SDGs, with productive zakat programs boosting household income by 10% for 70% of 4,895 micro-enterprises. Threats such as informal zakat channels and economic instability (inflation 5.2%, unemployment 6.1%) persist. Zakat contributed to a slight poverty reduction (from 15% to 14.5%), though uneven distribution limits broader impact. The findings highlight the need for digitalization, institutional capacity building, and culturally sensitive outreach. Integrating maqasid shariah offers a replicable model for aligning Islamic philanthropy with sustainable development in other Muslim-majority regions.
