Abstract

This community service activity aims to increase educational technology literacy among Vocational High School (SMK) teachers by introducing the basic concept of Deep Learning and its application in the world of education. This training was motivated by the urgent need to equip educators with basic understanding and skills regarding artificial intelligence (AI), especially Deep Learning, to be able to keep up with rapid technological developments and relevant to vocational education. Through practice-based training using simple tools such as Teachable Machine, teachers are given hands-on experience in creating simple machine learning models that are applicable in the school environment. The results of the pre-test and post-test showed a significant increase in understanding in the participants. The group discussions also produced various ideas for the application of AI such as a face-based attendance system, student voice recognition, and recommendations for learning materials according to students' interests. Despite challenges such as limited infrastructure and teacher learning time, this activity proves that a practical and contextual training approach can increase teachers' motivation to integrate technology into learning. Similar training is highly recommended to be replicated in other schools to support equitable access to modern educational technology.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis pengaruh bersama-sama gaya kepemimpinan kepala sekolah terhadap kinerja guru SMA Negeri di Kabupaten Kendal, Jawa Tengah. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan metode survey. Populasi dan sampel penelitian ini adalah guru PNS (Pegawai Negeri Sipil) atau guru tetap (GT) dan guru non PNS atau guru tidak tetap (GTT) pada SMA Kabupaten Kendal, Jawa Tengah yang berjumlah 80 orang. Pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan kuesioner, dokumentasi dan observasi. Teknik analisis data menggunakan metode Analisis Regresi Linear Berganda, Analisis Koefisien Korelasi (r), Analisis Koefisien Determinasi (R2). Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah gaya kepemimpinan kepala sekolah (X1) memiliki hubungan serta pengaruh yang positif dan signifikan bagi Kinerja guru (Y) di Kabupaten Kendal, Jawa Tengah memiliki hubungan serta pengaruh yang positif dan signifikan bagi Kinerja guru di Kabupaten Kendal, Jawa Tengah, dan secara bersama-sama terdapat pengaruh signifikan dari variabel gaya kepemimpinan kepala sekolah terhadap kinerja guru di Kabupaten Kendal, Jawa Tengah.

Abstract

This study investigates the application of artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance personalized learning in Vocational High Schools (SMKs) in Palembang City. The background of this research is based on the need for adaptive learning to accommodate the diverse characteristics of vocational students, as well as the challenges faced by conventional learning methods. This study employs a descriptive, qualitative approach with an exploratory design. Data was collected through in-depth interviews and observations of teachers and students in five vocational schools, both public and private. The results show that AI has been utilized as a Learning Management System (LMS), an Android-based application, and an automated evaluation system, allowing teachers to monitor individual student progress. The main obstacles faced include a limited understanding of technology among teachers, uneven network infrastructure, and concerns about teachers being displaced by automated systems. On the other hand, AI also opens up opportunities to enhance learning motivation, improve teaching efficiency, and provide a more adaptive learning experience. This research contributes to the understanding of AI's application in vocational schools and lays the foundation for developing a more inclusive and responsive digital education policy.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the role of metacognitive awareness in improving the speaking performance of hospitality vocational students. Using a mixed-methods design, this study involved 50 students of the Prasetiya Mandiri Polytechnic and combined quantitative data from the adapted Metacognitive Awareness Inventory (MAI) as well as role-play-based speaking tests, with qualitative data from in-depth interviews. The results of correlation analysis showed a significant positive relationship (r = 0.65) between metacognitive scores and speaking performance. The most dominant metacognitive strategies reported by students included self-monitoring during speaking and post-task reflection. These findings reveal that students with high metacognitive awareness tend to be able to manage their communication more effectively in professional situations. Research implications include the importance of integrating metacognitive training in vocational curricula, such as through reflective journals and communication strategy guides. The study also highlights a curriculum gap, where only 32% of respondents reported having received explicit training related to metacognitive strategies. Limitations include small sample sizes, so it is recommended that follow-up studies be conducted longitudinally and across institutions.

Abstract

The rapid digital transformation demands that human resources (HR) be able to adapt to various new technologies in the workplace. This study aims to analyze the level of HR readiness in facing the implementation of digital technology, identify the required digital competencies, and develop relevant training strategies based on actual needs. The research method used was a quantitative descriptive approach with a survey of 120 respondents from the service and public administration sectors. The results show that HR readiness levels vary, with younger generations and operational workers showing higher readiness than senior generations and upper management positions. The most needed digital competencies include basic digital literacy, data analysis skills, utilization of work software, cybersecurity, and digital communication. The main implication of these findings is the need for initial competencies and the implementation of needs-based training to effectively address the challenges of digital transformation. Designed training programs must not only consider initial skill levels but also be tailored to the work context and individual roles within the organization. This adjustment aims to increase training effectiveness and accelerate the technology adaptation process. This study also identified implementation barriers, such as budget constraints, resistance to change, and lack of top management support. Therefore, a strong internal communications strategy is needed to build awareness of the urgency of digitalization, as well as a commitment from management to create a work ecosystem that supports the sustainable development of digital competencies. These findings provide an important contribution to developing adaptive and resilient HR development strategies in the digital era. Furthermore, cross-departmental collaboration is also necessary to create an inclusive and progressive digital work culture.

Abstract

Religious moderation aligns with the principles of sustainable development by fostering a culture of peace, justice, and inclusivity. Islamic educational settings often integrate religious values into the ELT curriculum, incorporating Islamic stories, teachings, and ethical principles into language learning materials and activities. By using this methodological approach, this research aims to provide valuable insights into effective strategies and key challenges in encouraging religious moderation through ELT in an Islamic education environment. The data used in this research were interview transcripts, focus group recordings, and documents which were then analyzed using thematic analysis to identify recurring themes, patterns, and insights related to strategies and challenges in encouraging religious moderation through ELT. This study adopted a qualitative research design to explore the various experiences, perspectives and practices of educators and stakeholders regarding the promotion of religious moderation through ELT. The study identified some strategies for promoting religious moderation: Incorporate Multicultural Content; Encourage Critical Thinking; Facilitate Open Dialogue; Promote Empathy and Respect; Address Misconceptions and Stereotypes; Highlight Common Values; Engage with Religious Leaders and Community Members and Empower Educators with Training. Some challenges as well were also found: Sensitivity and Cultural Context; Resistance to Change; Misinformation and Stereotypes; Balancing Academic Freedom and Sensitivity; Language Barriers; Lack of Resources and Training; Community and Parental Concerns; and Political and Social Context.

Abstract

This Community Service (PKM) activity aims to improve artificial intelligence (AI) literacy in students majoring in Visual Communication Design (DKV) at SMK Muhammadiyah 2 Palembang through Canva-based training. The development of AI technology has brought about a significant change in the world of graphic design, where features such as Magic Design, Text-to-Image, and Background Remover are now widely used to support the creative process. However, most vocational school students are still passive users, lacking an understanding of the AI principles behind the technology. Through a Project-Based Learning (PjBL) and Active Learning approach with a demo–practice–reflection model, this activity is designed so that students are not only able to use the AI features in Canva, but also understand the work concepts, benefits, and ethics of using them. The activity was conducted over two days, involving 30 DKV class XI students. The evaluation of the results showed a significant increase in the aspects of understanding AI concepts (48%), motivation to learn design (35%), and creativity of works (32%). Students also show an increase in learning independence and digital ethical awareness. These results confirm that AI-based learning through Canva is effective in building AI literacy, creativity, and student readiness to face the technology-based creative industry. This activity is recommended to be expanded to teachers and other departments to strengthen digital literacy in the vocational education environment.

Abstract

The advent of generative AI has sparked widespread debate about its implications for creativity and innovation. This article explores the dual nature of generative AI as both a potential threat and a catalyst for creative progress. While AI systems are capable of producing art, literature, music, and design with remarkable efficiency, concerns have emerged regarding the erosion of human-centered creativity and the risk of homogenization in artistic expression. On the other hand, proponents argue that AI serves as a powerful tool that expands the boundaries of creativity by augmenting human capabilities, fostering new forms of artistic collaboration, and accelerating innovation in various fields. This article critically examines both perspectives, analyzing the role of generative AI in shaping the future of creativity. It highlights the need for ethical frameworks and a balanced approach to integrating AI technologies, ensuring that human imagination remains central to creative endeavors while leveraging AI’s potential for transformative innovation.

Abstract

Program pengabdian kepada masyarakat bertema "Pelestarian Kearifan Lokal Kain Tradisional Gambo: Upaya Meningkatkan Kualitas Hidup dan Kebudayaan Masyarakat" dilaksanakan oleh dosen dari Politeknik Prasetiya Mandiri di Desa Babat Toman, Kabupaten Musi Banyuasin. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk melestarikan kain tradisional Gambo sekaligus meningkatkan kualitas hidup dan kebudayaan masyarakat setempat. Dalam satu hari pelaksanaan, program ini melibatkan berbagai aktivitas seperti pelatihan teknik pembuatan kain Gambo, workshop desain inovatif, serta sesi diskusi tentang manajemen usaha dan strategi pemasaran. Melalui pelatihan ini, pengrajin lokal memperoleh pengetahuan baru tentang teknik jumputan dan desain kreatif, serta wawasan mengenai penggunaan platform digital untuk pemasaran produk. Hasil dari kegiatan ini menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam pengetahuan dan keterampilan peserta, penguatan kapasitas pengrajin lokal, serta pembentukan jaringan kolaborasi antara pengrajin, pemerintah desa, dan institusi pendidikan. Selain itu, program ini berhasil menumbuhkan kesadaran akan pentingnya pelestarian kearifan lokal sebagai identitas budaya yang berharga.Secara keseluruhan, program ini berhasil mencapai tujuannya dan memberikan dampak positif yang signifikan bagi masyarakat Desa Babat Toman. Dengan rekomendasi untuk pelatihan berkelanjutan dan dukungan akses pasar yang lebih luas, diharapkan kain tradisional Gambo dapat terus dilestarikan dan menjadi sumber penghidupan yang berkelanjutan bagi masyarakat setempat

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kapasitas pelaku UMKM pakaian tradisional Palembang melalui inovasi produk dan pelatihan manajemen bisnis demi mendukung pengembangan wisata fashion lokal. UMKM yang bergerak pada produksi songket, jumputan, dan batik Palembang memiliki potensi ekonomi dan budaya yang sangat besar, namun menghadapi berbagai tantangan seperti minimnya inovasi desain, rendahnya kemampuan pengelolaan usaha, serta keterbatasan pemanfaatan teknologi digital dalam pemasaran. Melalui kolaborasi antara tim dosen Politeknik Prasetiya Mandiri dan Dinas Pariwisata Kota Palembang, kegiatan ini dilaksanakan dalam bentuk workshop, pendampingan usaha, serta pelatihan pemasaran digital bagi para pelaku UMKM, mahasiswa, dan masyarakat. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan pengetahuan dan keterampilan peserta dalam mengembangkan desain produk kreatif, memperbaiki kualitas produksi, serta mengelola bisnis secara lebih profesional. Selain itu, peserta mulai memahami strategi pemasaran digital sebagai sarana penting dalam memperluas jangkauan pasar. Kegiatan ini memberikan dampak positif terhadap penguatan identitas budaya lokal sekaligus membuka peluang ekonomi kreatif berbasis wisata fashion. Implementasi program ini diharapkan dapat menjadi langkah berkelanjutan dalam meningkatkan daya saing UMKM dan mendorong pertumbuhan ekonomi masyarakat Palembang.
