Abstract

This study explores the utilization of Facebook as a medium for Islamic da'wah in the contemporary era, highlighting its potential, advantages, and accompanying challenges. The method employed is a literature review with a narrative-descriptive approach. Data were collected from indexed and relevant scholarly articles and analyzed thematically to portray the dynamics of digital da'wah. The findings indicate that Facebook offers a broad, fast, and interactive space for da'wah through features such as live streaming, da'wah groups, and visual content. The platform’s strengths lie in its ability to reach younger generations, foster digital spiritual communities, and support contextual two-way communication. However, challenges also arise, such as the proliferation of hate speech, the spread of hoaxes, negative comments, and the emergence of unqualified preachers lacking sufficient knowledge and digital ethics. Additionally, the pressure to gain popularity often obscures the substance of da'wah. Therefore, effective da'wah on Facebook requires an integration of digital competence, deep religious knowledge, and commitment to Islamic ethical values. This study is expected to contribute theoretically to the development of Islamic communication studies and serve as a practical guide for preachers and Islamic institutions in designing ethical and effective digital da'wah strategies.

Abstract

This study examines the production of religious space in the Sunan Ampel area of Surabaya through a sociological-historical approach, emphasizing the concept of lived space and the dialectics between sacrality and economy. Departing from Henri Lefebvre’s theory of space production, this article argues that the sacredness of Ampel is not a static entity that is inherited ahistorically, but rather the result of social construction that continues to be produced and reproduced through ritual practices, social relations, economic activities, and collective memory that are formed historically. This research uses a qualitative method with in-depth interviews, field observations, and historical document analysis. The study’s findings show that, sociologically and historically, Ampel evolved from a religious settlement into an urban religious pilgrimage and tourism area with layers of symbolic, social, and economic meaning. The dialectic between sacredness and economics does not exist as a structural conflict of a binary nature, but rather as an everyday social experience negotiated by the actors. In the Sunan Ampel lived space, economic activities are tied to religious ethics and the moral economy, thereby supporting the sacred space’s sustainability. Abstract

This research aims to explore the dominant factors of early marriage from the other perspective of married teenage girls. This Research was conducted from May 2022 until January 2023 in Singosari, Malang. Purpose sampling was used to select 20 electable informants. Data was collected directly through semi-structured interviews and analyzed using conventional content analysis methods. This research uses a qualitative method with a content analysis design for exploring topics related to cultural context. The qualitative method with content analysis design in this study uses a traditional approach. The research results showed that multiple factors encourage the decision to marry at an early age from the perspective of adolescent girls including two categories namely "socio-economic conditions" and "individual conditions." Therefore, the problem of early marriage is caused by many factors, and a multidimensional and interdisciplinary approach is needed to develop and implement systematic, effective, massive, and comprehensive steps, including programs to increase knowledge, understanding, and awareness of teenagers, parents and society about the negative impacts of early marriage. The implications of this research highlight the need for more targeted policies and interventions to prevent early marriage, as well as the important role of education and community support in changing perceptions and social norms that support this practice. This research also provides a basis for the development of youth empowerment programs that focus on improving their quality of life and well-being.

Abstract

The long-standing tin mining industry in the Bangka Belitung Islands has left a legacy of complex ecological crises, including thousands of abandoned mining pits (kolong), land degradation, and the dislocation of local livelihoods. This study examines how local communities reconstruct their livelihood strategies within a post-extractive landscape characterized by ecological subordination, institutional fragmentation, and asymmetrical power relations. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach through content and critical discourse analysis of policy documents, institutional reports, scholarly publications, and online media coverage, the research traces how national development narratives, policy frameworks, and media representations contribute to the socio-ecological marginalization of post-mining areas in Bangka Belitung. The findings reveal that although community initiatives, such as pit reclamation, participatory agro-tourism, and freshwater aquaculture, are emerging, these efforts are often constrained by unclear land access, weak institutional support, and structural exclusion in land governance. Livelihood transformation in post-mining contexts is not linear but unfolds through politicized processes marked by spatial conflict, community agency, and contested resource control. The study underscores the need for recovery policies that are not merely technocratic, but socially and ecologically transformative, positioning local communities as principal actors. The practical implications point to reforming post-mining governance in a contextualized, participatory, and locally grounded manner to achieve long-term sustainability and ecological justice in extractive-affected regions.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze Human Resource Management (HRM) practices in Islamic philanthropic institutions, specifically focusing on zakat and waqf organizations. The research utilizes bibliometric analysis, sourcing data from the Scopus database and employing tools such as Biblioshiny and VOSviewer to map trends, identify gaps, and suggest improvements. The results show a lack of integration between modern HRM practices and Islamic ethical principles, as well as a shortage of empirical studies addressing the impact of HRM on organizational performance. Additionally, there is a lack of longitudinal research exploring long-term impacts, such as employee retention and organizational sustainability. The study recommends adopting strategic talent management, comprehensive employee development programs, and performance management systems that align Islamic values with modern HRM practices. The implications of this research are that these strategies are essential for improving organizational efficiency and sustainability, as well as creating a positive work environment rooted in Islamic ethics. Future research should explore these approaches to develop tailored HRM frameworks for Islamic philanthropic institutions.
