Abstract

In the context of globalization, societies are increasingly diverse in culture, religion, language, and values. These differences can enrich interactions but also lead to misunderstanding and conflict. This study explores how communication can promote tolerance and unity in heterogeneous communities. A qualitative approach with a systematic literature review was used to analyze studies published in the last decade. The review identifies several key communication strategies: open dialogue, mutual listening, inclusive language, intercultural understanding, and responsible use of media. Empathic communication, respect for differing perspectives, and constructive conflict resolution also play crucial roles in fostering social cohesion. The findings suggest that communication is not only a means of sharing information, but a social tool for building trust, reducing prejudice, and strengthening unity. The study recommends collaboration among individuals, communities, and institutions to support inclusive and empathetic communication. These efforts are essential for developing policies, education systems, and media content that reflect and reinforce values of tolerance in diverse societies.

Abstract

This study explores the important relationship between emotional intelligence (EI) and interpersonal communication among students of Jinarakkhita Buddhist College of Lampung, particularly in the Communication Studies program during the 2023/2024 academic year. Recognizing a significant gap in understanding how EI affects communication dynamics in academic contexts, this study aimed to uncover the relationship. Using a quantitative approach, data was collected from a sample of 45 students using a structured questionnaire. A significant positive correlation was found between EI and interpersonal communication effectiveness through Pearson correlation analysis and simple linear regression with Microsoft Excel. Specifically, college students who exhibited higher levels of EI showed better adaptive and cooperative behaviors in their interactions. This study confirms the importance of EI development among university students to improve interpersonal communication, with potential implications for future education and professional preparation. With the increasing recognition of emotional intelligence in educational contexts, this study provides valuable insights and recommends curriculum development and student engagement strategies.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of artificial intelligence in Indonesia’s digital democracy has precipitated algorithmic bias and a public trust crisis, necessitating robust educational strategies. This study investigates the role of educational communication management, digital literacy, and AI ethics in mitigating these challenges and restoring institutional credibility. Employing an explanatory quantitative approach with Structural Equation Modelling (SEM), the research analyzed data from 100 purposively selected students to test the relationships between communication governance, algorithmic perception, and trust. The results reveal that educational communication management significantly enhances decision-making effectiveness (?= 0.397$), while AI ethics significantly positively influences public trust (?= 0.298). Conversely, algorithmic bias was found to substantially impact decision-making dynamics (? = 0.414). Interestingly, digital literacy demonstrated a positive yet statistically non-significant direct effect on trust variables. The study concludes that educational communication management and AI ethics are pivotal pillars for modern educational governance. To address the trust crisis and algorithmic distortions, educational institutions must implement transparent communication strategies integrated with ethical AI principles, thereby fostering an inclusive and accountable digital information ecosystem.
