Abstract

Cisauk district is located within the administrative area of Tangerang regency, Banten Province. The Cisauk district was originally part of the Serpong district, which experienced regional expansion. Initially, much of the land in the Cisauk district was agricultural land. However, as the population grew, its function changed to residential land, industrial trade, and services. In addition, this area in Tangerang regency is strategic as a buffer for the capital city of Jakarta. Therefore, with the increasing rate of population growth and the growth of residential areas or housing developments in the Cisauk district, the need for clean water is also directly proportional. Based on these problems, it is necessary to have training and mentoring activities in implementing clean water well-making activities, with the aim that clean water well-making activities are carried out by plans and methods that meet implementation standards and technical standards for making clean groundwater wells.  It is planned to construct a borehole well at a location identified as a productive aquifer zone based on the ADMT survey results. The borehole well will be designed to reach the optimum depth to penetrate the aquifer zone, providing a sustainable, clean water supply for the community of Cibogo Village, Cisauk District.

Abstract

The assessment of geothermal well production capability plays a crucial role in optimizing geothermal energy generation systems. This study focuses on evaluating the performance of two geothermal wells, ZM-42 and ZM-31, located in the AAP Field, by developing output curves through wellbore simulation techniques. The analysis utilizes field production test results, well casing configuration data, and PTS (Pressure, Temperature, and Spinner) survey data to generate key parameters such as wellhead pressure, fluid flow rate, fluid temperature, enthalpy, and vapor fraction (dryness). These parameters are essential for understanding the thermal and flow characteristics of each well. Wellbore simulations were conducted using specialized software to replicate the flow behaviour of geothermal fluids within the well system. The output curves produced provide a graphical representation of the relationship between wellhead pressure and mass flow rate under various operating conditions. Validation of the simulation was done by comparing the generated curves with actual field measurements. The results show that well ZM-31 demonstrates a higher production capability compared to ZM-42. ZM-31 recorded a flow rate of 96.61 kg/s and an enthalpy of 1134.5 kJ/kg, with a vapor fraction of 0.14. In contrast, ZM-42 exhibited a lower flow rate of 85.60 kg/s, enthalpy of 1027.7 kJ/kg, and a vapor fraction of 0.11. These differences indicate superior separation efficiency and thermal performance in ZM-31. Furthermore, ZM-31’s production is dominated by a single feed zone, while ZM-42 relies on multiple contributing zones. In conclusion, based on output curve analysis and well simulation results, ZM-31 is recommended as the primary production well for further optimization in the AAP geothermal field, contributing to more efficient and reliable energy output.

Abstract

Water-based drilling fluids commonly exhibit rheological degradation under high-temperature, high-pressure (HTHP) conditions, resulting in significant reductions in viscosity, yield point (YP), and gel strength (GS). Previous studies relying on conventional additives such as PAC, CMC, KOH, and NaOH have not fully resolved this issue, particularly in maintaining rheological stability at elevated temperatures. This study addresses this gap by introducing an alkaline polymer as a multifunctional additive intended to replace several conventional components while enhancing thermal resistance. Response Surface Methodology (RSM) with a Box–Behnken design was used to evaluate the combined effects of Carboxymethyl Cellulose (CMC) and alkaline polymer at three temperature levels: 80°F, 150°F, and 250°F. Experimental results show that at 150°F, the optimized formulation consists of 3.5 g CMC and 3.6 g alkaline polymer, yielding a viscosity of 17.64 cP, plastic viscosity of 12.46 cP, and a YP of 7.72 lb/100 ft², representing a substantial improvement compared to the baseline formulations, where YP values decreased significantly with temperature. The optimized mud also demonstrated improved gel strength and consistent filtrate control relative to non-optimized systems. The novelty of this study lies in the use of an alkaline polymer as a single multifunctional substitute for multiple drilling-fluid additives, combined with a multi-temperature RSM optimization framework. The findings provide a simplified, thermally stable drilling-fluid formulation suitable for HTHP environments.

Abstract

The upstream oil and gas industry is under global pressure to reduce carbon emissions while maintaining production levels. One of the key technologies projected to play a vital role in this energy transition is Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS). This technology captures carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions from industrial activities and stores them in underground geological formations, including depleted oil and gas reservoirs. Indonesia, as an oil-producing G20 member, has a significant opportunity to develop CCS due to the availability of geological formations suitable for carbon storage. This study aims to identify the potential, challenges, and implementation strategies of CCS in Indonesia’s upstream oil and gas sector through a literature review and conceptual analysis approach. The findings indicate that CCS implementation could support Indonesia’s Net Zero Emission 2060 target, although challenges remain in terms of financing, regulatory framework, and technological readiness. Strategic efforts such as policy strengthening, cross-sector collaboration, and human capital development are essential to accelerate CCS deployment.
