Abstract

Sediaan kosmetika masker wajah yang mengandung bahan alami saat ini telah banyak beredar dipasaran, namun belum ada sediaan masker wajah dengan bahan aktif ekstrak bunga cempaka kuning. Adanya aktivitas antioksidan bunga cempaka kuning telah dilaporkan dari ekstrak dengan nilai IC50 5,12 µg/mL dan dari masker gel peel off yang mengandung ektrak bunga dengan nilai persen peredaman sebesar 51,75% mengandung 2 x IC50 (F2)  dan 54,5% mengandung 3 x IC50 (F3). Namun sediaan masker gel tersebut belum diketahui keamanan dan kestabilan fisik sediaannya. Studi literatur ini bertujuan untuk melihat dan mengetahui potensi ekstrak cempaka kuning dalam pengembangan pada sediaan masker wajah dan beberapa pengujian kualitas dan kestabilan sediaan masker wajah. Metode dalam kajian literatur ini adalah pencarian artikel jurnal dan buku yang bersumber dari database PubMed, Sciencedirect dan Google Scholar. Hasil penelusuran pustaka diperoleh 99 artikel dipilih untuk skrining awal. Berdasarkan kajian literatur dapat disimpulkan bahwa ekstrak cempaka dapat memungkinkan untuk dikembangkan menjadi bentuk sediaan masker wajah, baik masker peel off atau sediaan masker lainnya. Kata kunci: Antioksidan, ekstrak bunga cempaka kuning, masker wajah Abstract Face mask as cosmetic preparations containing natural ingredients are currently widely distributed in the market, but there is no face mask preparation with the active ingredient yellow champaka flower extract. Antioxidant activity of yellow champaka flower has been reported from extract with an IC50 value of 5.12 µg/mL and from a peel off gel mask containing this extract with a percent inhibition of 51.75% containing 2xIC50 (F2) and 54.5% containing 3xIC50 (F3). However, this gel mask preparation is not yet known for its safety and physical stability. This literature study aims to know the potential of yellow champaka extract in the development of facial mask preparations and its several quality and stability tests. The method in this literature review is the search for journal articles and books sourced from the PubMed, Sciencedirect and Google Scholar databases. The results of the literature search obtained 99 articles selected for initial screening. Based on the literature review, it can be concluded that champaka extract can allow it to be developed into a face mask dosage form, either a peel off mask or other mask preparations. Abstract

The first-line pharmacological therapy in type II diabetes patients in people who are overweight and have normal kidney function is metformin. However, metformin with immediate release has been found to have some weaknesses, namely that a maximum dose of 2,000 mg/day requires use 2 to 3 times a day, which leads to a potential patient's non-compliance, in addition to causing disorders in the intestinal tract. To overcome this problem, a formulation was developed that was modified with extended release using the direct compressed method. This study aims to determine the influence of variations in the concentration of hypromellose and carboxymethylcellulose natrium (Na-CMC) matrices in the extended-release of metformin HCl 500 mg to obtain an optimal and similar extended-release system capsule formula to the originator drug, as well as to prove the quality of the selected formula through stability monitoring. This research is expected to produce the optimum formula for metformin HCl capsules extended release and can be applied in the pharmaceutical industry into commercial products.Keywords: Diabetes, Metformin HCl, Extended release, Direct compressed,                     Hypromellose, Carboxymethylcellulose natrium.

Abstract

Coffea arabica L. is one of the most widely consumed beverages globally, with extensive research highlighting its significant physical and mental health benefits. However, research has primarily focused on the effects of drinking coffee rather than inhaling its aroma. Aromatherapy, a complementary and alternative medicine, is used to address conditions such as stress, anxiety, depression, insomnia, and pain. Despite the pleasant nature of coffee aroma for many individuals, studies on the therapeutic effects of coffee aroma are limited. This study aimed to develop an aromatherapy candle formulation with potential relaxation and calming properties using coffee oil. The formulations were prepared with varying concentrations of coffee oil: 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, and 25%. The methodological approach encompassed material collection, coffee bean roasting, Soxhlet extraction of coffee oil, and characterization of the extracted oil. Additionally, the study involved the formulation of aromatherapy candles, followed by comprehensive evaluations, including organoleptic testing, homogeneity assessment, air bubble analysis, melting point determination, burn time measurement, hedonic evaluation, and effectiveness testing. Among the tested formulations, the preparation containing 15% coffee oil (F3) exhibited superior physical properties. Effectiveness testing revealed that 50.00% of panelists experienced relaxation, 23.33% felt refreshed, 16.67% reported a calming effect, and 10.00% felt drowsy.

Abstract

Introduction: The fundamental challenge of effective skin permeation has long limited the therapeutic potential of topical drug delivery systems. Conventional formulations frequently fail to achieve adequate penetration through the skin barrier, necessitating innovative approaches to enhance drug bioavailability while maintaining targeted delivery to specific skin layers.  Aims: This review evaluates the transformative impact of transfersomes and transethosomes as advanced nanovesicular systems designed to overcome traditional limitations in topical drug delivery. Methods: The review examines ultra-deformable nanovesicle technologies through comprehensive analysis of their operational mechanisms, including osmotic gradient exploitation in transfersomes and ethanol-facilitated lipid fluidization in transethosomes. Performance comparisons with conventional formulations across various therapeutic applications were conducted to assess clinical efficacy and delivery capabilities. Result: These nanovesicular systems demonstrate superior performance in delivering diverse therapeutic agents to targeted skin layers while effectively minimizing systemic absorption. The analysis reveals significant advantages over traditional formulations, with enhanced penetration capabilities that extend to macromolecular therapeutics and biologics when integrated with complementary technologies such as microneedle arrays and iontophoresis. Current research developments focus on addressing existing limitations through lyophilization techniques, hybrid polymer systems, and advanced manufacturing processes. Conclusion: Transfersomes and transethosomes represent a significant advancement in topical drug delivery technology, offering promising solutions to longstanding permeation challenges. The future trajectory toward personalized formulations and sustainable production methods using plant-derived components indicates their potential to fundamentally redefine treatment approaches in dermatology, oncology, and pain management, establishing minimally invasive yet highly effective therapeutic options as the standard in patient care.

Abstract

Lupun root is the local name for Poikilospermum suaveolens (Blume) Merr. in the Aranio region, South of Borneo, Indonesia. P.suaveolens is a medicinal plant traditionally used to treat various ailments and to enhance the body’s immune function. This study aimed to investigate the secondary metabolites and antioxidant capacity of the ethanol extract derived from the root of Lupun (P. suaveolens). Samples were collected from Aranio, South Borneo. Extraction was performed by maceration using 96% ethanol. The analysis included phytochemical screening and evaluation of antioxidant activity using the DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl) assay measured by a UV-Vis spectrophotometer. Phytochemical screening revealed the presence of alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, and phenolic compounds in the Lupun root extract. The antioxidant assay showed an IC50 value of 20.44 µg/mL, indicating strong antioxidant potential of the ethanol extract. These results highlight the plant’s promise as a candidate for pharmaceutical development.

Abstract

Abstract— Nanotechnology involves manipulating matter at the atomic and molecular levels, leading to the creation of new materials for food and drug application with properties that are not always easily anticipated based on existing knowledge. Among the nearly infinite variety of these substances, some are toxic to biological systems, others are generally harmless, and yet others confer health advantages. The biocompatibility and distribution of these materials must be assessed prior to their use in biological and environmental. Consequently, it is essential to comprehend the toxicity of nanomaterials. Mechanisms of cellular uptake and nanoparticles dispersion in biological settings depend on their physicochemical properties. The pathways in which exposure to nanoparticles is harmful to health are through oxidative stress and inflammation. Recent research have indicated that nanoparticles may cause major health impacts when ingested, inhaled, or applied to the skin without precaution. The main sources of toxicity in nanomaterials include their size, shape, concentration, aspect ratio, crystallinity, surface charge, dissolution, and agglomeration. This review article aims to comprehensively summarize the toxicity aspects of nanoparticles for food and drug application, including physiochemical properties, mechanisms of nanoparticle toxicity, and the health risks, so as to provide an overview for future researchers to develop nanoparticulate in a safer way.

Abstract

Minerals are essential for numerous physiological functions. However, their application in pharmaceutical formulations is often limited by hygroscopicity and low bioavailability, which can diminish their therapeutic effectiveness. This article reviewa not only highlights these challenges but also provides an in-depth, up-to-date evaluation of various strategies designed to overcome these limitations, supported by quantitative data from recent literature. This review article emphasizes the role of co-processing with excipients and encapsulation technology, which improve mineral stability by creating an effective moisture barrier, thereby extending product shelf life. Effervescent formulations, through an acid-base reaction, generate gas that significantly enhances mineral solubility and contributes to increased bioavailability. Microencapsulation, using a polymer or protein layer, protects minerals from gastric degradation and allows for controlled release in the intestine, the primary site of absorption. Chelating peptides form stable complexes with mineral ions, improving their transport and uptake in the body. Meanwhile, advanced nanoparticle technologies like Solid Lipid Nanoparticles and liposomes increase the contact surface area, accelerate dissolution, and protect minerals from oxidative degradation. This review article offers a comprehensive overview of strategies that can significantly advance the development of more effective and stable mineral-based pharmaceuticals.

Abstract

Acne, Atopic Dermatitis, Psoriasis and Rosacea are examples of chronic inflammatory skin conditions. One characteristic of many skin disorders is the dysregulation of innate immunity in the skin. Acne, Atopic Dermatitis, Psoriasis, and Rosacea all have problems with the expression, function, or processing of the key innate immune effector molecule in the skin, cathelicidin LL-37. Cathelicidin induction can be altered to treat Acne and Atopic Dermatitis, which lessens the efficiency of the antimicrobial barrier. However, cathelicidin is overexpressed in Psoriasis and Rosacea. The most recent research on cathelicidin LL-37’s involvement in the etiology of inflammatory skin disorders will be included in this review. Since cathelicidin LL-37 may one day be employed as a therapeutic target, many cutting-edge therapy methods for the disease will be discussed. Abstract

 Kontaminasi silang pada sarana produksi adalah hal yang sangat dihindari sehingga perlu dilakukannya pembersihan yang sudah divalidasi karena residu yang tersisa dapat menjadi cemaran. Namun, terdapat risiko yang dapat terjadi selama dilakukannya validasi pembersihan. Oleh karena itu penting untuk mengkaji risiko tersebut. Penelitian ini akan mengkaji resiko yang dapat terjadi pada setiap tahapan validasi pembersihan dengan metode Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA). Penelitian dilakukan dengan cara observasional dan wawancara langsung di salah satu industri farmasi di Kota Bandung. Tahapan kajian risiko dimulai dengan mengidentifikasi risiko, menganalisis risiko berdasarkan tingkat keparahan, memberikan skor sehingga didapatkan nilai RPN, serta mengevaluasi risiko. Dari hasil kajian risiko, didapatkan sebanyak 26 risiko dengan 16 risiko minor, 4 risiko moderat dan 6 risiko mayor. Risiko yang termasuk dalam kategori mayor dibuat tindakan pengendalian risiko untuk mengurangi risiko terjadinya kegagalan dalam validasi pembersihan. Industri farmasi dapat melakukan tindakan pencegahan dan pengendalian dari hasil kajian risiko ini seperti pengecekan terhadap sarana penunjang kritis yang ada, penentuan marker, pelaksanaan proses validasi, serta mempertimbangkan untuk pembersihan secara otomatis.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Repurchase interest is a key indicator of consumer loyalty in the cosmetics industry, especially in Kimia Farma pharmacies serving diverse customer segments across Java, Bali, and Nusa Tenggara. This study aims to analyze the influence of service quality, product quality, price, brand image, and word of mouth on repurchase interest, and to assess regional differences. A quantitative approach using Partial Least Squares (PLS) was applied to 192 respondents. The results indicate that among the five independent variables, only brand image (coefficient = 0.321; p-value = 0.000) and word of mouth (coefficient = 0.158; p-value = 0.020) significantly influence repurchase interest. Service quality, product quality, and price did not show statistically significant effects, despite positive directional influence. Regionally, brand image had the strongest impact in Bali and Nusa Tenggara, while word of mouth was most influential in Java. These findings suggest that emotional and social factors play a more critical role in shaping consumer loyalty than technical factors. Therefore, marketing strategies focusing on strengthening brand image and consumer-to-consumer communication are recommended to boost repurchase rates at Kimia Farma pharmacies.  Keywords: Repurchase Interest, Brand Image, Word Of Mouth, Cosmetics, Kimia Farma.  ABSTRAK Minat beli ulang merupakan indikator utama loyalitas konsumen dalam industri kosmetik, terutama di apotek Kimia Farma yang melayani konsumen dengan karakteristik berbeda di wilayah Pulau Bali, Jawa dan Kepulauan Nusa Tenggara. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh kualitas layanan, kualitas produk, harga, citra merek, dan word of mouth terhadap repurchase interest produk kosmetik, serta mengevaluasi perbedaan pengaruh antarwilayah. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode Partial Least Squares (PLS) terhadap 192 responden. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa dari lima variabel yang diuji, hanya citra merek (koefisien = 0,321; p-value = 0,000) dan word of mouth (koefisien = 0,158; p-value = 0,020) yang berpengaruh signifikan terhadap repurchase interest. Variabel kualitas layanan, kualitas produk, dan harga tidak berpengaruh signifikan meskipun menunjukkan arah positif. Secara wilayah, citra merek dominan di Bali dan Nusa Tenggara, sedangkan word of mouthpaling berpengaruh di Jawa. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa faktor emosional dan sosial lebih berperan dalam membentuk loyalitas konsumen dibanding faktor teknis. Oleh karena itu, strategi pemasaran yang menekankan pada penguatan citra merek dan komunikasi antar konsumen sangat disarankan untuk meningkatkan pembelian ulang di Kimia Farma Apotek.  Kata Kunci: Minat Beli Ulang, Citra Merek, Word Of Mouth, Kosmetik, Kimia Farma.
