Abstract

Wastewater is a combination of liquids or water or waste generated from household, institutional, commercial, and industrial activities that can cause various problems, one of which is the tofu industry that produces liquid and solid waste, especially liquid waste can cause environmental problems and pollution if not treated first. The wastewater quality standard for soybean processing activities includes Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD), Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), Potential Hydrogen (pH), and Total Suspended Solid (TSS). The aim of this study is to determine the levels of BOD and COD in the liquid waste. This is a descriptive study with a population of workers from a tofu Industry, using a total population sampling technique, and wastewater samples were taken from the effluent discharge and examined in the laboratory. The sampling technique used was grab sampling. The results of the examination of BOD and COD in the wastewater of the tofu Industry were an average of 3,191 mg/L for BOD and 9,308.67 mg/L for COD. The conclusion is that the high levels of COD and BOD in the tofu Industry do not meet the standards.

Abstract

This research aims to investigate the effect of the discussion method in increasing the learning achievement of class X students at MAN 2. The type of research used is qualitative research and uses the library research method. The data collection techniques used in this research used interviews, observation and documentation. After the data is collected, it is then analyzed by collecting data, reducing data and drawing conclusions. From the results of the researcher's analysis, it shows that. The discussion method applied by the teaching staff at MAN 2 Sinjai is very well implemented because by applying this method students can carry out the process of exchanging opinions with other students, every student who can be active in using this discussion method can gain many benefits if they are active in the process, because this method really helps students to continue to think critically, practice public speaking, and provide their thoughts and ideas. So, by maximizing the implementation of the discussion method, it is hoped that students can achieve learning goals more effectively and efficiently

Abstract

Food security ensures everyone has sufficient, safe, nutritious, affordable access to healthy food. To achieve this, four critical dimensions must be met: accessibility, availability, safety and nutritional quality of food. Food security will be disrupted if one of these dimensions is not achieved. Hydroponics, which allows cultivating plants without soil, is an alternative for increasing food security, especially in areas with limited land. In Bandung, with a tropical climate and sufficient water availability, hydroponics can improve agricultural production efficiency and reduce pesticide use. Bandung Ministry of Health Polytechnic, Department of Environmental Health, carries out community service in the Sukarame area to overcome the limited knowledge and skills of the community regarding the use of home gardens, the importance of healthy pesticide-free vegetables, and the application of hydroponics. This program uses a scientific approach with lecture, discussion and field practice methods. The activity began with a survey, followed by briefing students participating in the service regarding hydroponics. Students are then involved in training and field practice. Measurement of residents' knowledge showed a significant increase from pre-test to post-test. Even though 20% of respondents still did not understand the material, these results show that practice-based training effectively increases knowledge. To ensure sustainability, continued assistance and provision of adequate resources is needed.

Abstract

Background: The management of liquid waste from public services such as laundry businesses, as well as car and motorcycle washing businesses in the Pasirkaliki Village area, North Cimahi District, Cimahi City, is still inadequate, this can be seen from the absence of treatment efforts in wastewater disposal. The goal is to carry out counseling activities and make activated carbon filters as a stimulant to reduce COD levels in liquid waste from the results of public service activities. Method: The partners of this activity are the laundry business group consisting of 5 units and the car and motorcycle washing business group consisting of 2 units located in the Pasirkaliki District, North Cimahi District, Cimahi City. Counseling activities were carried out by visiting each member of the business group, while the placement of activated carbon filters as stimulants was chosen from the laundry business group considering that the number of businesses was higher. Results: As a result of the application of activated carbon filters as a stimulant in the laundry business, there was a decrease in COD from 2650 mg/l to 90 mg/l so that it was safe to dispose of in water bodies. Conclusion: Laundry business owners and car and motorcycle wash business owners realize that the management of liquid waste resulting from this is marked by the formation of a laundry business community group chaired by laundry owners and car and motorcycle wash business community groups chaired by car and motorcycle.

Abstract

Terjadinya kasus penyakit melalui makanan disebabkan karena dalam pengolahan makanan masih dengan cara kuno, penyajian juga penyimpanan yang kotor, juga pencucian alat makan tergolong buruk. Penelitian dilakukan di industri yang bergerak di bidang pengangkutan minyak dan gas bumi serta pengisian tabung elpiji, menyediakan fasilitas kantin sebagai tempat makan para pekerjanya. Berdasarkan Permenkes No. 1096 tahun 2011 tentang Higiene Sanitasi Jasaboga jumlah angka kuman yang diperbolehkan adalah 0 koloni/cm2 luas permukaan alat makan. Jumlah kuman pada piring setelah dilakukan pemeriksaan tidak memenuhi dengan hasil sebesar 321 koloni/cm2. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk melihat bagaimana pengaruh perbedaan lama waktu penyinaran sinar inframerah terhadap angka kuman pada alat makan piring. Dilakukan penelitian eksperimen dengan desain penelitian posttest with control yang mana terdapat 3 perlakuan waktu penyinaran yaitu 10 menit, 15 menit dan 20 menit dilakukan dengan 6 kali pengulangan. Populasi penelitian sebanyak 35 alat makan piring dan besar sampel sebanyak 24 sampel. Analisa data dilakukan dengan menggunakan uji Kruskall Wallis dengan hasil yang didapatkan p<0.05 (0.000). Rata-rata angka kuman setelah diberikan penyinaran dengan lama waktu 10 menit, 15 menit, dan 20 menit adalah sebesar 32 koloni/cm2, 11 koloni/cm2, dan 0 koloni/cm2. Penurunan angka kuman pada alat makan dipengaruhi oleh perbedaan lama waktu penyinaran sinar inframerah. Penggunaan lemari sterilisasi merupakan alternatif di industri untuk menurunkan angka kuman pada alat makan di industri.

Abstract

The health of household occupants can be significantly influenced by indoor air quality, a crucial factor. Currently, real-time measurement of indoor air quality is not feasible. Consequently, there is a need to create sensor technology capable of reading air quality concentration data and transmitting information via internet connectivity. This sensor technology is part of the broader Internet of Things (IoT) ecosystem. This study aimed to create an IoT prototype for real-time measurement of SO2, NO2, PM10, and PM2.5 gas concentrations in residential settings. The research employs a Research and Development (R&D) methodology, with real-time sample data collection and descriptive analysis. The prototype's measurements revealed concentrations (g/m3) of SO2 (0.0100-0.1011), NO2 (0.0005-0.9352), PM10 (51-128), and PM2.5 (43-121). Over 24 hour period, average measurements indicated that SO2 concentration met the standard (0.1 g/m3), while NO2 exceeded the limit (0.04 g/m3), as did PM10 (70 g/m3) and PM2.5 (35 g/m3). This prototype can measure indoor air quality parameters such as SO2, NO2, PM10, and PM2.5, with results viewable on both an LCD and the Blynk Android application.

Abstract

The waste problem is an ongoing and unresolved issue due to the continuous daily activities of humans, which inevitably produce waste. Dealing with a large amount of waste requires proper management, especially for organic waste. The purpose of this study is to describe the utilization of Black Soldier Fly (BSF) larvae in organic waste processing. The research method employed is descriptive-observational, with the total population as the sample. Data collection methods include interviews and observations, and the data were analyzed using frequency distribution. The research findings indicate that the generation of organic waste at the processing site amounts to 1,407.12 kg/day, while the waste generated from a single village is 1,125 kg/person/day, which is categorized as substantial. Based on observations of organic waste processing using BSF larvae at the Integrated Waste Management Site (TPST), it was found that up to 225 kg of organic waste can be processed in one month, thereby reducing the overall amount of organic waste generated. The facilities and infrastructure for organic waste processing using BSF larvae meet the requirements for various stages, including the fly phase, egg phase, hatching phase, larval enlargement phase, prepupa phase, and pupa phase. In conclusion, the utilization of BSF larvae in organic waste processing can effectively reduce the amount of organic waste disposed of at TPST.

Abstract

Vector control is an action taken to reduce the population of vectors and prevent diseases. The measurement of the cockroach population index is 3, which was found to not meet the requirements of Minister of Health Regulation No. 70 of 2016 in the raw area of the manufacturing industry. Control efforts using natural insecticides have been proven to be safe in controlling adult cockroaches. This study aims to determine the variation in concentrations of soursop leaf extract (Annona muricata L.) on the mortality of adult Periplaneta americana cockroaches in the Manufacturing Industry. The research is quasi-experimental with a posttest-only control group design involving three variations of soursop leaf extract concentrations: 5%, 6%, and 7%. Repetition was conducted six times for each concentration variation, with the population consisting of all cockroaches in the raw material area, totaling 240 cockroach samples taken using a purposive sampling technique. The data collection tools were cockroach traps and a thermo hygrometer, with data collection techniques involving measuring cockroach density, temperature, and air humidity. Soursop leaf extract at a concentration of 5% was able to kill cockroaches by 51.6%, 6% concentration by 62.3%, and 7% concentration by 81.6%. Statistical analysis using univariate and bivariate tests with one-way ANOVA showed a significant influence of the variation in soursop leaf extract concentrations, with a probability value of 0.000 (<0.05). The application of soursop leaf extract at the highest concentration of 7% can kill cockroaches by 81.6%.

Abstract

Society 5.0 is a society that can solve various social challenges and problems by utilizing various innovations that were born in the era of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 such as Internet on Things (internet for everything), Artificial Intelligence (artificial intelligence), Big Data (large amounts of data), and robots to improve the quality of human life. The aim of this research is to find out how the Islamic boarding school concept in the 5.0 era faces challenges in developing quality human resources. The research method used is qualitative with library research studies, namely by taking data sourced from books, journals, the internet, and so on. Data analysis is used, namely the context analysis method, which is an effort to collect and organize data, then it is also attempted using analysis and interpretation or interpretation of these data. The results of this research show that implementing the concept in the 5.0 era can increase quality human resources because in this context, Islamic boarding schools have a strategic role in preparing the young generation who not only have intellectual skills, but also strong moral and spiritual strength.

Abstract

The increasing demand for food has driven agricultural intensification, including the use of pesticides to control pests. However, improper pesticide usage can pose health and environmental risks. This Community Service Program (PKM) aimed to enhance the knowledge and skills of vegetable crop pesticide sprayers in West Bandung agricultural area, regarding safe pesticide spraying practices through education and training. The methods included observation, training, assistance, and evaluation through pre-tests and post-tests. The results showed a significant improvement in farmers' knowledge levels, from the "Poor" category before training (<50%) to "Good" after training (100%). The program also increased farmers' awareness of using personal protective equipment (PPE) and implementing proper pesticide spraying procedures. The program's recommendations include ongoing education and the establishment of local facilitator teams to support program sustainability.
