Abstract

Background: The maternal mortality rate in Indonesia is still considered high, at 305 per 100,000 live births. Hypertension in pregnancy is the second largest cause of maternal death in Indonesia. In 2018, two mothers died due to hypertension in pregnancy at the Simpang Periuk Health Center, Lubuklinggau City. One of the causes of hypertension in pregnancy that leads to death is the lack of information obtained by pregnant women. Health promotion through booklet media is a solution to increase the knowledge, attitudes and actions of pregnant women regarding the prevention of hypertension in pregnancy. BARA (Small Book of Prevention of Hypertension in Pregnancy) is a small book containing specific knowledge about successful strategies for preventing hypertension in pregnancy. Providing knowledge about the prevention of hypertension in pregnancy through booklets distributed to pregnant women has never been done at the Simpang Periuk Health Center. Purpose: To compare the average score, difference, and percentage change in knowledge, attitude, and action regarding hypertension prevention before and after receiving BARA in pregnant women. Method: Quantitative research using quasi-experimental design with control group. The sample used was 60 pregnant women obtained by Accidental Sampling formula. The study was conducted at Simpang Periuk Health Center, Lubuklinggau City. This location was chosen because based on initial data, the researcher concluded that many pregnant women at Simpang Periuk Health Center still have low levels of knowledge, attitudes, and actions regarding hypertension in pregnancy. Group 1 was given a printed BARA book, while Group 2 was included in the WhatsApp group where the electronic BARA book was distributed. Participants read the booklet and were encouraged to ask questions if they found something unclear. Results: Almost all participants were aged between 20-35 years (90%) with an average age and standard deviation of 27.21 and 4.498. The majority of participants had a high school education (48.3%) and most participants were housewives (52%). The average results of hypertension prevention actions in pregnancy in participants who used printed and electronic books increased significantly. Preventive actions in the group using printed booklets increased from 16.33 to 19.20, while in the e-booklet group increased from 16.07 to 19.13. The results of the Wilcoxon statistical test showed a p-value of 0.000 (p <0.05). This indicates a significant difference in actions before and after health promotion. Conclusion: There is a significant difference in the level of knowledge, attitudes, and actions regarding hypertension in pregnancy before and after health education using both printed and electronic booklets. There was a significant increase in knowledge, attitudes, and actions to prevent hypertension in pregnancy (p<0.000) in both groups. The greatest increase occurred in the group given the e-booklet.

Abstract

The impact of disasters is considered more concerning for elementary school-age children, as they are unable to rescue themselves at such a young age. It is highly meaningful for elementary school-age children to have an understanding of disaster mitigation. This study aims to determine the knowledge of school children regarding the mitigation of Mount Kelud's disaster in a highly prone disaster zone. The research method used is descriptive quantitative with a population of 112 students and a sample size of 60 respondents selected through purposive sampling. Data collection was done using a questionnaire consisting of 15 questions that were validated, with a calculated value of r > r table, which is 0.602, and the reliability test result of Cronbach's alpha greater than 0.600. This research was conducted in March 2023 at SDN 02 Penataran. The research results show that the respondents' knowledge of disaster mitigation is 33.3% categorized as good, 45% as sufficient, and 21.6% as lacking. Meanwhile, knowledge in the pre-disaster phase is 31.6% good, 46.7% sufficient, and 21.6% lacking. Knowledge during a disaster is 33.3% good, 48.3% sufficient, and 18.3% lacking, while knowledge after a disaster is 26.6% good, 31.6% sufficient, and 41.6% lacking. It can be concluded that the majority of knowledge regarding disaster mitigation falls under the sufficient category, accounting for 45% with an age range of 10-13 years, and children obtain information about disaster mitigation from their families and social media. It is recommended that educational institutions incorporate disaster mitigation learning into the school curriculum to deepen students' understanding of this matter

Abstract

Abstract: Preparedness is an activity to anticipate pre-disaster mitigation so that each individual is always ready and prepared to face natural disasters. This study aims to determine the knowledge of school-aged children about pre-disaster preparedness for the eruption of Mount Kelud. This study used a pre-experimental method with a sample size of 31 respondents taken through purposive sampling technique. Data collection was done using a questionnaire. The results of the study showed a significant increase in knowledge. The pre-test results showed that there were no respondents in the good knowledge category, but after being given education using the Time Games Tournament method, there were 23 respondents (74%) in that category. Additionally, the category of sufficient knowledge increased from 0% to 26%, and the category of poor knowledge decreased from 100% to 0%. The Time Games Tournament method is an effective learning technique for delivering pre-disaster preparedness knowledge in a fun way. This method can also increase students' spirit, enable them to actively participate, foster a sense of togetherness and mutual respect, and improve creativity. Therefore, educators and health workers are expected to apply an educational program using the Time Games Tournament learning method in conducting health education. Keywords: preparedness, education, Team Games Tournament method, school age child

Abstract

Hypertension is a non-communicable disease that kills silently. The aim of this research is to determine the effect of slow stroke back massage on blood pressure and pulse in hypertension sufferers aged 45-54 years in Blitar City. This research uses a quantitative type of research with a pre-experimental research design with a One-Group Pretest-Posttest design approach. The samples taken were hypertension sufferers aged 45-54 years who underwent examinations at the Blitar City Health Center UPTD with a sample size of 30 respondents, and sampling used purposive sampling. This research instrument uses a digital sphygmomanometer and oximetry. SSBM is carried out for 15 minutes with 2 massages for 2 weeks which aims to reduce blood pressure and pulse in hypertension sufferers. The data was processed descriptively and continued with the Paired t Test. The results show that the average systolic pressure before is 154.70, the average diastole before is 90.23, the average pulse before is 86.67, and the average systolic pressure after is 152.13, the average diastole after is 88.23, the average pulse after is 84.03. The results of statistical tests using the Paired t Test show a value of P=0.000 (p<0.05), so there is a significant difference in the blood pressure and pulse values before and after. The results of the research show that there is a decreasing effect on blood pressure and pulse before and after being given Slow Stroke Back Massage therapy and can be used as a non-pharmacological therapy at the Blitar City Health Center UPTD for hypertension sufferers.
