Abstract

Children of elementary school-age are experiencing obstacles with Javanese vocabulary now. The priority of learning Javanese has declined among children and parents. This is because their attention has shifted to technological developments that have an impact on the high level of gadget usage. This study aimed to: (1) developing Go-Bung (Golek Tembung) as an Android-based application; (2) explain the urgency of Javanese language vocabulary introduction in children; and (3) identify the impact of using the Go-Bung application. The research method used was mixed method. The results obtained were: (1) there were four stages of application development including scenario design, modeling, production, and testing; (2) the importance of introducing Javanese vocabulary to children to revive a sense of cultural love and conserve their culture; and (3) the use of the Go-Bung application had a positive impact on children, parents, and Javanese language teachers. This application can support better quality human resources. Keywords: android application; children; Javanese vocabulary

Abstract

This community service activity aims to improve STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) learning at a natural school in Klaten through engineering design. STEM is directed as integrated learning between several fields of science, especially those related to mathematics, science (physics, chemistry, biology, and environmental science), and IT (Information Technology). Learning is done by introducing several technologies that use wind energy sources. Engineering design process activities are carried out in 3 modules, namely, understanding the context of the problem, experimenting with materials and sail shapes capable of capturing wind energy, and designing windmills according to the results of previous experiments. The learning module is made by a service team with the teacher and then given to parents. Parents are expected to assist children during the implementation of activities. Students are encouraged to use STEM skills in designing windmills.

Abstract

Abstract

In carrying out attendance activities, most schools still use the manual attendance method, which utilizes the attendance book as a medium. However, the presence of the manual still causes some problems that arise when using this method. With the aim of this study, a "Facial Recognition-Based Attendance System" was created. This study used the Local Binary Pattern Histogram (LBPH) method to detect and recognize faces. The system is made to recognize the student's face and name, which the attendance system will then carry out along with the student's identity in the form of Name and Absence Number in real time to find out that the student is present in the class. The names that have been diabase can be saved through the XLS format. The result of this study is a facial recognition-based attendance system using the LBPH (Local Binary Pattern Histogram) method. The system is web-based, so users can easily access it through the internet. This research method uses research and development methods. This research stage consists of research and information collection, planning, and product draft development. The results of this study showed the feasibility level of facial recognition-based attendance systems. The eligibility rate obtained showed a score of 78.98%. From these results, this system is worthy of being used as an attendance system.

Abstract

Learning in the digital age requires upskilling and reskilling in the application to the efficacy of learner-centered learning. Every time that goes by and becomes a new era to always accompany the development of the times, especially in the world of education. So with the development of this Era, it is hoped that educators will be able to adjust to welcoming the learning of the Eras and Their Eras. So that true learning is created with enthusiasm and happiness will be obtained by students and educators to carry out meaningful learning activities according to the environmental conditions of each school. So it is necessary to hold a shift starting from reorganizing the mindset of learning puzzles, the mindset of fierce teachers, assertive teachers, teachers commanding, and learning focusing on the teacher that we must be aware of, so that students also have the space and time to grow in accordance with the era of their time. Most importantly learners get enough love and material for them to process to discover the natural potesntion that exists in each – each unique individual.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the use of project-based Moodle science learning integration on the city noise theme. The type of research used is descriptive qualitative. The research was conducted in three junior high schools in the city of Semarang in the even semester of the 2020-2021 academic year. Based on the results of the study, teachers in each school responded positively to the use of Moodle science learning integration with the theme of city noise because the content in it was following the needs of teachers in science learning. In the first and second project assignments, there were only 10 students each who submitted their assignments. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the use of project-based Moodle science learning integration on the theme of city noise is following the needs of science learning in schools, but has not been able to increase student activity optimally in the science learning process. Constraints found in the use of project-based integration of moodle science learning on the theme of city noise online are limited infrastructure, internet quota, learning time, low student interest and motivation, and lack of parental supervision in the implementation process

Abstract

Infection symptoms are physical or mental characteristics that indicate a disease condition, especially those visible to the patient. The World Health Organization (WHO) issued a document containing symptoms of infection by the Covid-19 virus, including fever, dry cough, fatigue, and shortness of breath. These symptoms have similarities with illnesses caused by Influenza and Cold viruses, and it is difficult for most people to distinguish the differences between them. We proposed a Research and Development (RnD) study, developing an android app that embeds a Simple Additive Weighting (SAW) algorithm. However, this article will not cover the development process of the android app, but mostly how the algorithm works. This study aims to help people differentiate Influenza, Cold, and Covid-19 virus infections based on their symptoms through an Android-based application. We used weights provided by WHO and several related studies to be processed by the SAW decision-making algorithm, one of the Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) algorithms, a method that makes decisions based on multiple conflicting criteria. The user can get the most similar type of infection by entering the symptoms. The app showed its potential in achieving research objectives and the feasibility of being applied in the community.

Abstract

This study aims to group students into study groups (classes) based on learning styles utilising K-Means Clustering technique  and Sum of Squared Error for cluster assessment. This study used type of learning style developed by Felder and Silverman, which includes four dimensions: (1) the learning process; (2) perception of learning; (3) information input; and (4) understanding of information. This study subjects were Universitas Sebelas Maret's students majoring in informatics Education consisting of 58 respondents. The results showed that the K-Means clustering approach with cluster evaluation using Sum of Squared Error produced the best clustering when the number of clusters was k=2. The cluster analysis showed that each class has different learning styles and characteristics. The first cluster (group) consists of 26 respondents and has the features of an active learning style in the learning process dimension, sensing in the learning perception dimension, visual in the information input dimension, and a balance between global and sequential in the information understanding dimension. Meanwhile, the second cluster (group)  consists of 32 respondents and has a reflective tendency in the learning process dimension, sensing in the learning perception dimension, visual in the information input dimension, and global in the information understanding dimension.
