Abstract

The purpose of this research is to determine the feasibility, effectiveness, and practicality of learning media in the form of an interactive e-module with the research method used is Research and Development (R&D) with a 4D development model (Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate) which is modified into 3D. The instruments used consisted of review sheets, validation, student response questionnaires, tests (pretest and posttest). The data were obtained based on the results of interviews with chemistry teachers and giving questionnaires to students. The results of the validation of this device got the score of 90% for content criteria, 93% for presentation criteria, 84% for language criteria, and 100% for graphic criteria are very feasible to use. The practicality of the e-module is known from the results of the responses of students with an average score of more than 81% which can be categorized as highly responding.  The interactive e-module is also said to be very effective by analyzing learning outcomes using the t-test with a significance value of 5%. Therefore, the use of interactive e-modules on the element periodic system material can be used as learning media in carrying out online learning activities

Abstract

One of characteristic in chemistry is its abstractness concept thus, the models or analogies to represent its microscopic and symbolic representation which not able seen by eyes are needed. Intermolecular forces lesson is one of chemistry concept that needs microscopic and symbolic representation. Modelling for microscopic and symbolic representation can be used to facilitate students for a better learning experience. Related to the problem background, the aim of this study is to know the validity of interactive multimedia using 3D modelling. The interactive multimedia using 3D virtual modelling will contain intermolecular forces explanation and equipped with 3D illustration, animation, and text to describe microscopic and symbolic representation. This study used R&D method by Thiagarajan and the data gathering section conducted in SMA Negeri 1 Waru Sidoarjo. The instruments to assess the validities of multimedia are content validity sheet and construct validity sheet which assessed by 3 academics and practitioners. The validity average scores obtain 86.66% for content validity and 85.78% for construct validity which both categorize as “Very Valid”. Keywords: Interactive Multimedia, 3D Virtual Modelling, Intermolecular Forces

Abstract

Chemistry is a branch of science that encourages various advances in various fields. However, the characteristics of chemistry which have complex concepts make it difficult for class X high school students to understand chemistry. Thus, the problem that is the focus of discussion in this study is how to overcome the low visuospatial skills of high school students in class X, so that students can understand complex concepts in chemistry. This study uses the research design and development of the 4D Thiaganrajan modified 3D Ibrahim method. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of Mobile Virtual Reality (MVR)-based molecular geometry learning media in improving visuospatial skills. The effectiveness of the MVR-based molecular geometry learning media is stated based on the interpretation of the N-Gain score. The results showed an increase in the percentage of correct answers on the posttest by 32.15% with a significance level ranging from 0.57-1 in the medium to high category. In this regard, the use of MVR-based molecular geometry learning media is said to be effective because it can improve students' visuospatial skills. That is, MVR-based molecular geometry learning media can help students to comprehensively represent molecular geometry sub-materials.

Abstract

This study aims to test the effectiveness of interactive e-modules to train students' visual-spatial intelligence on ionic bonding material in terms of the students' pretest and posttest results. The research design applied in this study was a one-group pretest-posttest design. Where using the learning outcomes test sheet as the instrument used in this study and tested on 15 students in high school. Analysis of the data from the research results showed that the learning outcomes test that had been carried outreached an average N-gain of 0.81 with a high score criterion to measure the students' visual-spatial intelligence. The normality test used to determine whether the distribution of the data was normal or not showed results with a significance level of 0.836 for the pretest and 0.436 for the posttest, both of which had a significance level of 0.05. This matter prove if the analyzed data is normally distributed. And the last test is the paired sample t-Test which gets the sig value. (2-tailed) of 0.000 0.05, thus H1 accepted and H0 rejected so that there is a significant effect on giving treatment using interactive e-modules to train visual-spatial intelligence given to students.
