Abstract

This study aims to describe the strategies employed by Islamic Religious Education  teachers in fostering students' moral character to reduce delinquent behavior among eleventh-grade students at SMA Minhajuttulab Labuhan Ratu Baru, East Lampung. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were collected through observations of 25 eleventh-grade students, interviews with four informants consisting of a PAI teacher, a homeroom teacher, a Guidance and Counseling  teacher, and one eleventh-grade student, as well as documentation. Data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, supported by source and technique triangulation. The findings revealed that the PAI teacher implemented humanistic, collaborative, and religious approaches through the habituation of religious activities and moral development. These strategies were supported by a religious school environment but were hindered by peer influence, digital media, and the low level of awareness among some students.

Abstract

Ideally, Islamic Religious Education (IRE) should develop students’ analytical thinking skills at the C4 cognitive level. However, the learning process at SMA Negeri 1 Abung Semuli is still dominated by monotonous lecturing, resulting in low student engagement, difficulty in analyzing religious concepts, and an inability to relate the material to real-life contexts. This situation leads to low learning outcomes, particularly on tasks that require analytical skills. Based on these issues, this study aims to examine the effectiveness of the Make-a-Match type of Cooperative Learning in improving PAI learning outcomes, specifically in the C4 cognitive domain. The study employed a quantitative approach with involving two Grade X classes: an experimental class that received the Make-a-Match treatment and a control class that was taught using conventional methods. The learning outcome test instrument consisted of 15 questions that were validated and tested for reliability, and subsequently used in both pre-tests and post-tests. Data were analyzed using normality and homogeneity tests, Mann–Whitney, and independent t-tests according to the data distribution characteristics. The results indicated a significant difference between the experimental and control classes. The Mann–Whitney test yielded a significance value of 0.012, while the independent t-test yielded 0.013 (< 0.05), indicating that the Make-a-Match model has a positive effect on improving students’ learning outcomes. The card-matching activities encouraged students to analyze, compare concepts, and identify material relationships more critically, thereby enhancing C4-level abilities. In conclusion, the Make-a-Match type of Cooperative Learning is effective in improving PAI learning outcomes, particularly students’ analytical skills. This model is recommended as an innovative and interactive instructional strategy to enhance the quality of PAI learning in senior high schools

Abstract

Digital transformation in Islamic Religious Education (IRE) learning has not only altered pedagogical strategies but also reshaped students' Well-being experiences. This study aims to examine the meaning of student Well-being and the factors influencing it in IRE learning in the digital era. This research employed a qualitative, phenomenological design. The findings reveal that student Well-being is interpreted as a holistic construct encompassing academic balance, emotional comfort, quality of social relationships, and spiritual meaningfulness within IRE learning. Well-being is shaped by the interaction of pedagogical practices, peer relationships, the design and workload of digital learning, students' self-regulation in technology use, family support, and school-based spiritual practices. The novelty of this study lies in the formulation of a conceptual model of student Well-being in IRE grounded in students' perspectives, integrating pedagogical, digital, and spiritual dimensions simultaneously within a learning ecosystem framework that implies the need to develop IRE learning practices oriented toward holistic and sustainable Well-being in the digital era.

Abstract

This study investigates the correlation between learning independence and active participation among students in Islamic Religious Education (IRE) at MAN 2 Bandar Lampung. Preliminary observations showed that only 15% of students demonstrated adequate self-confidence in independent learning, while responsiveness to questions reached merely 12%, indicating reduced engagement and growing reliance on AI during learning activities. Using a quantitative correlational design with an ex-post facto approach, the study involved 160 students selected through simple random sampling. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire. The findings show a significant positive relationship between learning independence particularly students’ self-confidence and their responsiveness in classroom learning. These results underscore the importance of strengthening students’ confidence in autonomous learning as a primary strategy to enhance classroom responsiveness. Educators are encouraged to implement approaches that intentionally build self-confidence to improve active participation in IRE learning.

Abstract

This study examines the effectiveness of the Learning Cycle 7E instructional model in enhancing learners’ motivation in Islamic Religious Education (IRE), specifically on the topic “Emulating the Role of Ulama in Spreading Islamic Teachings in Indonesia” at SMK Negeri 5 Bandar Lampung. The research was conducted in response to the low internal drive of learners, which was associated with lecture-dominated instruction and limited interactive learning media. A quasi-experimental posttest-only control group design was employed, involving two randomly selected classes: one experimental group taught using the Learning Cycle 7E model and one control group taught through conventional methods. The instrument utilized was a validated and reliable motivation questionnaire (α = 0.876). Although Hamzah B. Uno identifies six dimensions of learning motivation, this study focused exclusively on the dimension of learning drive and needs, as it corresponds directly with the objective of analyzing students’ internal impulses and perceived necessity to learn during the application of the 7E model. Restricting the measurement to this single dimension enabled a more precise and in-depth examination of internal motivation. The t-test results revealed a significant difference between the two groups (p < 0.05), demonstrating that the Learning Cycle 7E model effectively increased learners’ motivation, particularly in internal drive and learning needs. The study contributes novelty by implementing the 7E model within vocational-level religious education, offering an innovative and interactive approach to support meaningful and sustainable learning.

Abstract

This study examines the effectiveness of integrating YouTube-based Project-Based Learning (PjBL) to enhance students’ interest in Islamic Religious Education (IRE). A quasi-experimental post-test-only control group design was employed, involving tenth-grade students at SMK Geomatika Lampung, a vocational secondary school in Indonesia. Students’ learning interest was measured using a validated Likert-scale questionnaire, and the data were analyzed through normality, homogeneity, and independent samples t-tests. The findings revealed a statistically significant difference in learning interest between students taught using YouTube-based PjBL and those taught through conventional methods (p < 0.05). The integration of project-based learning with digital video media promoted active engagement, motivation, and positive affective responses in IRE learning. However, since the study was conducted in a single vocational school context, the findings should be interpreted cautiously and may not be generalized to all vocational secondary schools without further empirical validation. Future research involving broader and more diverse samples is recommended to strengthen generalizability.

Abstract

Islamic Cultural History (ICH) learning should promote students’ higher-order thinking skills, particularly at the C5 cognitive level, which requires argumentative evaluation of historical events. However, at MA Darul Huffaz Lampung, ICH instruction remains predominantly teacher-centered and lacks analytical engagement, resulting in students’ low evaluative abilities. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the Predict, Observe, Explain (POE) model integrated with Self Card media in improving students’ learning outcomes in ICH, specifically at the C5 cognitive level. This research employed a quasi-experimental method with a Posttest Only Control Group Design, involving two eleventh-grade classes: an experimental class that implemented the POE model supported by Self Card media, and a control class that received conventional instruction. The research instrument consisted of a learning achievement test designed to measure students’ evaluative (C5) abilities. Data were collected through a posttest and analyzed using normality, homogeneity, and Mann–Whitney tests. The results indicate a significant difference between the two groups, with a significance value of 0.010 (< 0.05), confirming a statistically significant difference in learning outcomes. The POE model supported by Self Card media proved effective in enhancing students’ evaluative abilities through systematic stages of prediction, observation, explanation, and self-reflection.

Abstract

Learning Akidah Akhlak has an important role in shaping students' understanding of faith and moral behavior, but in practice the learning process is still often dominated by conventional methods centered on teachers so that student involvement and critical thinking skills have not developed optimally. This study aims to determine the implementation of the reciprocal teaching learning method based on critical thinking skills in improving students' understanding of the concept of Moral Faith. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive type of research. Data collection techniques are carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawn. The results of the study show that the reciprocal teaching learning method is applied through four main stages, namely predicting, questioning, clarifying, and summarizing which encourage students to discuss, ask, and re-explain the material learned. Although the level of student activity is still relatively low, this method shows the potential in helping students understand the concept of Moral Faith through discussion activities, explaining material to each other, and clarifying understanding between students. Thus, the reciprocal teaching learning method can be an alternative learning strategy that supports improving students' understanding of concepts and critical thinking skills.
