Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi pengaruh penggunaan sirup komersial afkir terhadap sifat silase yang terbuat dari campuran dedak halus dan rumput odot. Dalam percobaan ini, efektivitas metode penyimpanan pakan dinilai sebagai cara untuk menjamin ketersediaan pakan disaat kekeringan. Eksperimen ini menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap dengan lima perlakuan dan lima ulangan. Intervensi yang disediakan antara lain: P1 (kontrol), berupa rumput odot dan dedak padi 5% dari bahan kering (BK), ditambah sirup afkir masing-masing sebanyak 2,50%, 5%, 7,50%, dan 10% DM pada P2, P3, P4, dan P5. Setelah itu, campuran didiamkan selama 30 hari pada suhu kamar. Unsur-unsur yang diamati adalah kandungan nutrien, suhu, pertumbuhan kapang, aroma, tekstur, dan warna silase. Berdasarkan data analisis, suhu, tekstur, dan aroma silase terbukti nyata (P<0,05) dipengaruhi oleh penambahan sirup afkir pada konsentrasi tertentu. Meskipun suhu silase tidak berbeda secara signifikan antara perlakuan, penggunaan sirup afkir pada konsentrasi 2,50-10% BK dapat meningkatkan kualitas nutrisi dan sifat fisik silase secara keseluruhan. Perlakuan terbaik terlihat pada penambahan 5% sirup afkir (P3) yang menghasilkan silase dengan nilai nutrisi dan karakteristik fisik yang optimal. Oleh karena itu, pemanfaatan sirup komersial afkir dapat menjadi alternatif yang efektif dalam meningkatkan kualitas silase dari campuran rumput odot dan dedak padi halus.

Abstract

Cabbage + mustard greens in the form of waste usually contain high water content so they have the potential to be used as silage feed through the addition of various concentrates. The aim of the research was to assess the physical quality, pH and number of lactic acid bacteria colonies of cabbage + mustard greens waste silage to which different types of concentrate were added. The research used the RAL method with 4 treatments and 5 replications. The treatments are: S1 = 70% cabbage and mustard silage plus 30% rice bran; S2 = 70% cabbage and mustard silage plus 30% corn flour; S3 = 70% cabbage and mustard greens silage plus 30% onggok; and S4 = 70% cabbage and mustard silage plus rice bran + corn flour + 30% onion. The results of the research showed that physical silage, pH and number of LAB colonies produced the same conditions (P>0.05) as cabbage + mustard greens waste silage, whereas based on pH measurements it showed that the addition of rice bran concentrate and corn flour was superior to the use of onggok concentrate.  The conclusion was that cabbage + mustard greens waste silage added from various sources was able to increase the physical value of the silage, pH and the number of lactic acid bacteria populations

Abstract

Sorghum and indigofera legumes are forage sources of energy and crude protein which can be combined into complete and inexpensive silage feed. This research aims to determine the quality of forage sorghum and indigofera legumes in the form of silage based on nutritional assessment. The research method used RAL with 4 treatments and 5 replications. The treatments used were S0 (100% sorghum), S1 (70% sorghum + 30% indigofera legumes), S2 (30% sorghum + 70% indigofera legumes) + S3 (100% indigofera legumes) with each treatment added with molasses, corn flour and rice bran. The results showed that the combination treatment of sorghum + indigofera legumes influenced (P<0.05) all nutritional parameters observed. indigofera) because it can increase dry matter, crude protein, BETN as well. The best combination was found in the S2 treatment (30% sorghum + 70% indigofera legume) because it was able to increase dry matter, crude protein, BETN and reduce the overall crude fiber content of the silage.

Abstract

Based on data from Central Statistics Agency for 2022, the number of beef cattle in the Meranti Islands is 3,927 tail, 9 buffaloes and 7,985 goats. This very large livestock population is certain to produce large amounts of livestock manure because the cattle population is always directly proportional to the production of livestock manure. This assistance has a purpose aims to produce appropriate technology through the use of solid and liquid waste from livestock manure as a source of biogas. The method devotion is counseling and assistance regarding biogas originating from livestock manure in livestock groups in the Meranti Islands. The institution that will be a partner in biogas development technology activities is the Mantiasa Village independent cattle group, which is a non-productive livestock group. The community service parameters observed is the degree of acidity (pH). The results of the service obtained by the Mantiasa Village livestock group can utilize Biogas from livestock waste which is always available and can be distributed to 3-5 families, so that breeders and the community no longer use conventional gas for cooking. The use of biogas products by breeders and the community can save people's living costs because the price of conventional gas for cooking is high.

Abstract

The provision of ruminant feed is always influenced by the quality and quantity of forage because it is based on field grass, even though there are cultivated forages in the form of corn and indigofera legumes which are rich in nutrients and long-lasting. This research aims to assess the nutritional value, WSC and invitro digestibility of silage made from corn forage and indigofera legume in different proportions as ruminant feed. The research method used a completely randomized design with 5 treatments with 4 replications. The treatments are P1 = 100% corn forage silage (CFS); P2 = 100% indigofera legume silage (ILS); P3 = 75% CFS + 25% ILS; P4 = 50% CFS + 50%  ILS and P5 = 75% CFS + 25%  ILS. The results showed that the 100%  ILS treatment produced the highest crude protein value (P<0.05), namely 18.77%. The highest NDF value (P<0.05) was in the 100% CFS treatment and the lowest was in the 100% ILS treatment (59.47% vs 42.07%). The highest IVDMD value was found in the 100% ILS treatment, 51.23%, and the lowest was in the 100% CFS treatment, 42.63%. The conclusion of this research is that 100% indigofera legume silage produces the highest crude protein, IVDMD and IVOMD values and produces the lowest crude fiber, NDF and ADF values compared to other treatments.

Abstract

Berkurangnya hijauan rumput lapang dipengaruhi besar karena  banyak perubahan fungsi lahan menjadi areal perkebunan dan industri. Selanjutnya usaha peternakan sapi konvensional selalu menyediakan pakan hijauan dengan sistem potong angkut (cut and carry) yang  hijauannya juga berasal dari rumput lapang sehingga ketersediannya juga tidak berkelanjutan. Kondisi ini tentunnya sangat berpengaruh negatif terhadap pemenuhan kebutuhan pakan sapi. Kondisi di atas tentu harus diberikan solusi yang tepat dan terukur, salah satunya dengan memanfaatkan pakan hijauan sapi yang berasal dari limbah perkebunan sawit, salah satunya  pelepah sawit. Pengabdian ini bertujuan sebagai pendampingan masyarakat dalam bentuk pembuatan pakan silase berbahan pelepah sawit serta mengujicobakan sebagai pakan sapi. Metode pengabdian adalah penyuluhan dan pendampingan mengenai  pembuatan pakan silase berbahan pelepah sawit pada kelompok SMD (Sarjana Membangun Desa) Tani Bukik Batang Potai Desa Penyasawan Kecamatan Kampar Kabupaten Kampar yang merupakan kelompok ternak non produktif dengan jumlah populasi sapi bali sebanyak 15 ekor. Paramater pengabdian yang diamati adalah kandungan nutrisi fraksi serat silase pelepah daun sawit dan palatabilitas sapi terhadap pakan. Hasil pengabdian bahwa kelompok peternak memiliki kemampuan mengembangkan pengolahan limbah pelepah sawit yang tersedia dalam jumlah besar menjadi pakan silase bagi sapi, serta kelompok memahami produk pakan silase dapat dijual sehingga keuntungan yang diperoleh bukan hanya berasal dari penjualan ternak tetapi berasal dari penjualan pakan silase.

Abstract

The Mantiasa Village independent cattle livestock group is a non-productive livestock group. The Mantiasa Village independent cattle livestock group has 25 Balinese cattle. This livestock group is found in Tinggi Tinggi Barat District, Meranti Islands Regency, Riau Province. This group is a location for breeding and fattening livestock commodities, especially Bali cattle. This very high cattle population is directly proportional to the production of livestock manure in the form of feces and urine. Cattle manure that is not utilized optimally will have implications for unfriendly environmental conditions and the spread of livestock diseases will often occur. Therefore, there is a need for technology to use livestock manure as biogas production by designing a household scale reactor. This service aims to produce appropriate technology through the use of solid and liquid waste from livestock manure as a source of biogas. The parameters observed were the degree of acidity (pH) and the flame test. Biogas observation results show that the initial pH of biogas is 7.2-7.4, while the final pH ranges from 7.9-8.2, which shows that biogas has good quality for bacterial growth. The Mantiasa Village livestock community actively participates in training in making biogas using simple, effective technology so that it can improve the community's economy.

Abstract

Sorghum has potential as a feed crop that has the ability to adapt to high temperature environments. The purpose of the research was to analyze the growth characteristics and biomass production of sorghum variety II at different cutting ages and urea fertilizer concentrations. The research used a complete randomized design pattern (3 x 3) with 3 replications. The first factor was cutting age namely 60, 65, and 70 days. The second factor was urea fertilizer concentration level of 150, 200, and 250 kg ha-1.  Parameters observed included growth characteristics including plant height (cm), stem diameter (cm) and leaf length (cm), then biomass production including fresh biomass production (tons ha-1), and brix content (%). The results showed that each cutting age and urea fertilizer concentration were significantly different (P<0.05) on plant height, stem diameter and leaf length. Furthermore, biomass production and sugar content value (brix) were not influenced by (P>0.05) cutting age and urea fertilizer concentration on sorghum samurai variety II.  Cutting age of 70 days and urea concentration of 250 kg ha-1 were the best treatments because they showed superior values in the observation of plant height and stem diameter as well as fresh biomass production

Abstract

Avocado seed meal, a part of the avocado plant that is rich in antioxidants and various other nutrients and non-nutrient substances, has great potential to be utilized as an herbal additive in animal feed. This study aims to determine the effect of molasses addition on the nutrient profile and quality of avocado seed meal silage. The control treatment (P1) used plain avocado seed flour, while the experimental treatments (P2, P3, P4, and P5) incorporated increasing molasses concentrations of 1%, 1.50%, 2%, and 2.50% of dry matter, respectively. All treatments were silaged for 30 days at room temperature. Key parameters measured were nutrient content, temperature, pH, fungal growth, physical and fresh silage quality, dry matter loss, and Fleigh value. The data obtained were analyzed based on analysis of variance, differences in parameter values between treatments were further tested with DMRT at the 5% significance level. Results indicated that molasses significantly enhanced the silage's nutrient content and improved its physical and fresh quality by optimizing temperature, reducing dry matter loss, and increasing Fleigh value (P<0.05). The conclusion of this study suggests that adding 2.50% molasses can produce the highest-quality avocado seed meal silage as an optimal herbal feed for livestock.

Abstract

Prospek peternakan kambing perah di Provinsi Riau sangat menjanjikan, hal ini terlihat dari terus meningkatnya permintaaan susu kambing. Pada sisi lain, peternak kambing yang tergabung ke dalam Himpunan Peternak Domba Kambing Indonesia (HPDKI) sering mengeluhkan sulitnya menyediakan pakan berkualitas. Bertempat di Peternakan Kambing Perah Fathur Farm, Kabupaten Kampar, Provinsi Riau telah dilaksanakan praktik penerapan teknologi tepat guna dengan membuat pakan wafer dan silase berbahan dasar limbah kelapa sawit. Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan ini adalah penyuluhan dan sosialisasi, diskusi dan praktik bersama serta pada bagian akhir dilaksanakan post test. Pelaksana kegiatan ini adalah dosen dan mahasiswa dari kelompok riset nutrisi dan pakan ternak pada Program Studi Peternakan Universitas Islam Negeri Sultan Syarif Kasim Riau. Kegiatan ini telah memberikan pengetahuan dan keterampilan baru tentang mengolah limbah sawit menjadi pakan wafer dan silase. Harapannya setelah praktik penerapan teknologi tepat guna ini mampu menjadi solusi dari permasalahan penyediaan pakan berkualitas pada peternak kambing.
