Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of social media usage and Islamic religiosity on employee performance, with job satisfaction as a mediating variable, among bottled drinking water (AMDK) industry employees in Indonesia. A quantitative approach was used with a non-probability purposive sampling technique, involving 214 respondents. Data were collected through online questionnaires, then analyzed using SPSS 24 for descriptive analysis and Smart PLS 4 for structural model analysis. The results show that social media usage and Islamic religiosity, both directly and indirectly (through job satisfaction), positively and significantly affect employee performance. This study enriches the understanding of the relationship between these variables in the context of the AMDK industry in Indonesia, while highlighting the importance of optimizing social media usage and integrating religious values to enhance employee performance.

Abstract

The Indonesian government is striving to encourage Muslim entrepreneurs to obtain halal certification for all products produced, imported, and sold within Indonesia. Digital media has emerged as a viable solution to enhance the convenience and practicality of Muslim entrepreneurs in applying for halal certification. This study aims to examine factors that influence Muslim entrepreneurs' halal certification applications through digital media, using the DeLone and McLean and the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) models. This quantitative study analyses 350 Indonesian Muslim entrepreneurs using partial least square structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM). Researchers obtain data using non-probability sampling approaches. The results of the study indicate that the constructs of performance expectancy (PE), effort expectancy (EE), social influence (SI), and service quality (SEQ) have a positive and significant effect on intention (INT). In addition, the facilitating condition (FC) has a positive influence on INT but is not significant. While the constructs of system quality (SYQ) and information quality (IQ) have a positive and significant effect on user satisfaction (US), the correlation of the two constructs to INT is not significant. Therefore, it can be concluded that PE, EE, and SI are the key driving factors for Muslim entrepreneurs in using digital media to apply for halal certification. According to the results, developing user-friendly features and technology systems is highly recommended. Pre- and post-submission service quality must be improved. Therefore, halal process assistance officers (PPH) are proposed to support Indonesian Muslim entrepreneurs.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the main determinants influencing MSMEs in applying for halal certification through digital media, using a combination of the DeLone & McLean and UTAUT models, with a comparison between male and female MSME owners. The PLS-SEM Multi-Group Analysis (MGA) approach was employed as the evaluation method in this quantitative study, using SmartPLS 3.0. A total of 300 respondents met the required criteria. The findings show that service quality is not a major determinant for the male group. On the other hand, for the female group, system quality does not significantly influence intention to apply halal certificate. Several other constructs, such as performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence, and information quality, show similar results across both groups, while facilitating condition does not have a significant impact on either male or female groups. These findings provide practical implications, particularly for policymakers. The government should improve performance, ease of use and information clarity for MSMEs. For male MSMEs, focus on system quality and customer support, while for female MSMEs, extension officer assistance would be more effective in encouraging halal certificate applications.
