Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the social adaptation of conventional bentor drivers at the Citimall terminal, Heledulaa Selatan Village, Gorontalo City, in facing competition with Maxim online transportation. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach, using data collection techniques such as observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, with informants selected purposively from conventional bentor drivers who are actively operating in the terminal area. The results indicate three forms of social adaptation undertaken by bentor drivers: active adaptation, including seeking passengers by patrolling, reducing fares, maintaining relationships with regular customers, and utilizing social media; passive adaptation, demonstrated by remaining at the terminal without innovating despite a decline in passengers; and integrative adaptation, manifested through mutual agreements with online transportation drivers regarding operational area restrictions and the implementation of a queuing system at the terminal to maintain social harmony. These findings highlight the importance of adaptation strategies for traditional drivers to sustain their livelihoods while fostering social harmony amid the competition with modern transportation.

Abstract

This study examines the social and economic changes experienced by the communities surrounding Lake Perintis, located in Huluduotamo Village, Suwawa District, Bone Bolango Regency, as an impact of the rapid development of the tourism area. The research employs a descriptive qualitative approach, using data collection methods such as field observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation to obtain a comprehensive understanding of community conditions before and after the tourism development. The findings indicate that the development of Lake Perintis has brought positive impacts to the local community, including increased income, the creation of new job opportunities, and a shift in livelihoods from the agricultural sector to the service and tourism sectors. Furthermore, the development has stimulated the growth of small and medium enterprises based on the creative economy, strengthened social interaction among residents, and expanded access to new economic opportunities. However, the study also reveals several negative impacts, such as increased competition between local and migrant traders, concerns over environmental degradation caused by uncontrolled tourism activities, and inequality in business space management and profit distribution. Therefore, a sustainable and participatory tourism management strategy is required to ensure that the development of Lake Perintis not only enhances the community's economic well-being but also maintains social balance, cultural values, and environmental sustainability in the area.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the impact of a community empowerment program through the development of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) based on squid processing in Langgula Village, Batudaa Pantai District, Gorontalo Regency. The research focuses on how the program influences economic welfare, product innovation, production efficiency, and marketing strategies among coastal communities. This study employed a qualitative method with a case study approach, involving seven key informants consisting of village officials, fishermen, and MSME actors. Secondary data were also obtained from literature, statistical reports, and program documentation. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis, then processed using data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing following the Miles and Huberman framework. The results indicate that the empowerment program significantly improved community welfare by providing alternative sources of income, particularly for women involved in MSME activities. Product innovations such as panada cumi (squid-filled pastry), squid chili sauce, ila bulo cumi (grilled squid), and squid dumplings emerged as outcomes of training and mentoring. The use of modern equipment enhanced production efficiency and hygiene, while promotional strategies through social media and local festivals expanded market reach. However, challenges remain in terms of limited capital, restricted market access, and inadequate infrastructure. Overall, the program has transformed community members into active development actors, strengthened household economies, fostered women's group collaboration, and increased women's participation in village development

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of Baznas assistance on the welfare of recipients in Tumbihe Village, Kabila District, focusing on how the assistance contributes to improving quality of life and economic empowerment. Baznas assistance not only serves as support for daily economic needs but is also directed toward promoting productive business development, particularly for recipients running micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). The study employs a qualitative approach using in-depth interviews with purposively selected recipients to obtain relevant and representative information regarding their experiences in utilizing the assistance. The findings indicate that Baznas assistance positively affects family income, saving capacity, and the development of micro-enterprises, including business expansion, increased customer base, and improved product competitiveness. However, the study also identifies several challenges that affect the effectiveness of the assistance, such as difficulty separating business and household finances, limited capital, and unstable business income due to fluctuations in customer demand. These findings underscore that, in addition to fund distribution, continuous mentoring and supervision are necessary to ensure that Baznas assistance is optimally utilized, thereby creating long-term impacts on recipients' welfare.
