Abstract

This article explores the role of play in early childhood education, specifically in the context of project-based science learning at Thammissalam Kindergarten in Thailand. Playing is considered important because it helps develop children's concentration, creativity, motor skills, and cognitive development. Project-based learning is seen as an effective approach to integrating science education into the curriculum, stimulating children's critical and creative thinking. This research uses a qualitative, case study type. Data was taken at Thammissalam Kindergarten, Thailand. We made observations on children in Thammissalam Thailand when the project was carried out. We conducted interviews with teachers and the headmaster about this project. This project was carried out for 1 year. The result of this project is that children understand scientific and cognitive processes because they know the growth of butterflies from the beginning of metamorphosis. Children learn to manage their emotions because they understand that this project will not last for a short time. They also learn cooperation because butterflies need a home. They prepared it all. The project can be implemented in the classroom in stages, for example, when children see caterpillars, they will learn about caterpillars, what caterpillars eat, and how caterpillars move to practice gross motor skills. Maybe it could be researched more deeply about evaluating the long-term effects of project-based learning on child development. Measuring the lasting impact of project-based learning on children's cognitive, social, and emotional development over the longer term. It can also be related to technology. Explore how technology can enhance children's engagement and learning in a project context. It can also be researched further on the differences between using technology and not.

Abstract

Early childhood education is crucial for child development, requiring well-prepared teaching staff, a conducive learning environment, and a robust curriculum. Teachers, as the primary figures interacting with students, play a vital role. Differences in curriculum, culture, and educational elements in Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand result in varying profiles of PAUD teachers' pedagogical content knowledge. This research uses quantitative methods to explore these differences among early childhood education teachers at RA Muslimat NU 09 (Indonesia), Taski Ma'arif (Malaysia), and Anubaan Singhanakhon Wittaya Nusorn School (Thailand). The study identifies factors that support and hinder the profiles of pedagogical content knowledge in these institutions. The research results will highlight the percentages of pedagogical knowledge, content knowledge, and pedagogical content knowledge among PAUD teachers in these schools, emphasizing the differences. Findings show that RA Muslimat NU 09 teachers have 79.6% in these areas, Taski Ma'arif teachers have 74.1%, and Singhanakhon Wittaya Nusorn School teachers have 78%. That’s means teachers' pedagogical content knowledge competencies in Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand do not show significant differences. The main difference is that teachers in Indonesia have relevant educational backgrounds, whereas in Malaysia and Thailand there are still teachers with educational backgrounds that are not relevant.

Abstract

Abstract

The Yellow Book Reading Acceleration Program at PP Al Akhyariyah Blega Bangkalan differs from similar programs in Indonesian Islamic boarding schools. This program requires students to fully read and understand the book over a structured timeline divided into three stages: 1) one year to master nahwu sorrof, 2) one year to study the book content, and 3) three years to fully comprehend the *Fathul Qorib* Yellow Book. Graduation each year is mandatory for students who meet the criteria. This study uses the CIPP evaluation model to assess the program. The results show: 1) Context evaluation indicates the program was developed with consideration of local regulations, including the Decree of the Roudlotul Al Akhyariyah As Syafi Foundation; 2) Input evaluation highlights that the curriculum, infrastructure, and supporting tools were appropriately designed by the boarding school; 3) Process evaluation confirms students were informed about memorization and comprehension targets at the start of the program; 4) Product evaluation finds that while the program has been implemented effectively, full success has not yet been achieved, as the quality of students’ reading and understanding of Fathul Qorib requires improvement, especially in accuracy of nahwu sorrof and grammar. The acceleration program is crucial for enhancing students’ personal and social quality, promoting Islamic syi’ar, and instilling moral values and character through habituation in reading the Yellow Book.
