Abstract

This study aims to describe the grammatical errors found in explanatory texts written by eleventh-grade students of SMA Santo Petrus Medan in the 2024/2025 academic year. The research was conducted during the even semester, from January to June 2025. The population included all eleventh-grade students, with a sample of 90 texts selected from class XI using purposive sampling. Data collection instruments included written tests, documentation, and observation. The data analysis technique employed the distributional method (metode agih) by Sudaryanto, utilizing the basic technique of Immediate Constituent Analysis (BUL) along with advanced techniques such as deletion and substitution. The results show that the most dominant grammatical errors were found in the use of grammatical cohesion, particularly in reference and conjunction. Reference errors include unclear or contextually inappropriate pronouns, while conjunction errors include excessive use, improper choice, or absence of necessary connectors. Data were presented systematically with coded references to clearly identify each error and its context. These findings highlight the need for writing instruction that emphasizes discourse structure and grammatical cohesion to help students produce more coherent and effective texts.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the forms of affixation morphological errors in speech texts written by eighth-grade students of the Smart Bangsa Private Junior High School. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method. The study was conducted at the Smart Bangsa Private Junior High School in the 2024/2025 academic year. The study population was 80 eighth-grade students' speech texts. The sample consisted of 75 texts selected purposively. Data collection on the forms of affixation morphological errors in speech texts was carried out through documentation techniques based on observation guide sheets. The observation guidelines were compiled using objective and systematic steps. Data analysis of the forms of affixation morphological errors in speech texts used the distribution method supplemented by advanced techniques, including the lesap technique and the ganti technique. The results of the study, based on the analysis of 75 data points, showed that only 23 data points contained affixation errors. The types of errors that appeared included errors in the use of prefixes, errors in the use of suffixes, and errors in the use of confixes. The most dominant error was in the use of prefixes. Meanwhile, errors in the use of infixes were not found. This finding shows that students still experience difficulties in applying the rules of affixation morphology correctly, especially in formal writing contexts such as speech texts.

Abstract

Tulisan ini membahas tentang analisis multimodal pada brosur Penerimaan Mahasiswa Baru (PMB). Brosur sebagai media informasi cetak memiliki kekompleksitasan makna yang tidak hanya disampaikan melalui bahasa verbal, tetapi juga melalui unsur visual, tata letak, tipografi, dan simbol-simbol nonverbal lainnya. Kekayaan makna dalam brosur PMB menuntut adanya pendekatan analisis yang mampu mengungkap berbagai lapisan pesan yang disampaikan. Oleh karena itu, analisis multimodal menjadi pendekatan yang relevan untuk memahami bagaimana makna dibentuk melalui kombinasi berbagai moda semiotik. Tulisan ini menggunakan teori linguistik sistemik fungsional (LSF) sebagai landasan teoretis. Model analisis multimodal dikembangkan dari perpaduan teori multimodal oleh Anstey & Bull (2010) dan kerangka kerja analisis visual oleh Kress dan Van Leeuwen (1996–2006). Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa brosur PMB mengandung sistem semiotik multimodal yang mencakup unsur linguistik, visual, gestural (melalui ekspresi dan posisi tokoh), serta spasial (melalui penataan elemen dalam halaman). Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa pemaknaan brosur PMB tidak dapat dilepaskan dari interaksi antar moda semiotik yang saling mendukung dalam menyampaikan pesan promosi dan ajakan kepada calon mahasiswa.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis bentuk dan makna tindak tutur dalam tayangan Little Big Shots dengan menggunakan model SPEAKING dari Dell Hymes sebagai kerangka etnografi komunikasi. Fokus kajian diarahkan pada episode yang menampilkan Evan Le, seorang anak berusia empat tahun dengan bakat luar biasa dalam bermain piano, serta interaksinya dengan pembawa acara Steve Harvey. Metode yang digunakan adalah kualitatif deskriptif dengan teknik pengumpulan data berupa menyimak video, pencatatan, dan transkripsi dialog. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa komunikasi dalam tayangan tersebut tidak hanya berlangsung secara verbal, tetapi juga mengandung makna sosial, emosional, dan budaya melalui elemen nonverbal seperti ekspresi, humor, musik, dan suasana interaktif. Model SPEAKING mampu mengidentifikasi unsur-unsur komunikasi seperti latar, partisipan, tujuan, nada, dan norma yang membentuk pengalaman komunikasi yang edukatif dan menghibur. Penelitian ini menegaskan relevansi pendekatan etnografi komunikasi dalam mengkaji tayangan hiburan anak-anak sebagai media penyampai pesan positif yang bersifat global dan universal.
