Abstract

Background:  In some countries, exclusive breastfeeding is practiced in a limited number of cases and for a short period of time; on an international scale in 2012, only 39% of six-month-old babies were exclusively breastfed. This breastfeeding rate falls short of the World Health Organization's recommended threshold (WHO). According to WHO, to reach the global level by 2025, which is 50% of mothers must exclusively breastfeed for 6 months after giving birth, a strategy must be developed to encourage and facilitate the initiation and continuation of breastfeeding. So, it is hoped that with the target set by WHO, mothers can give breast milk exclusively to their babies for 6 months optimally. Exclusive breastfeeding (ASI) is the ideal nutrition for babies in the first 6 months of life, with continued breastfeeding being recommended for up to 2 years of age. The health benefits of self-feeding are dose dependent, and infants with longer periods of exclusive breastfeeding have better health outcomes. The benefits of breastfeeding are dose dependent, and children have better health outcomes when they are breastfeeding exclusively for longer periods of time, but exclusive breastfeeding has not yet reached its aim due to a variety of factors that contribute to failure. Objectives: To identify factors affecting the failure of exclusive breastfeeding practice.Method: The method employed was scoping review, which starts with identifying scoping review questions using the PEO’S framework; selecting relevant articles based on inclusion and exclusion criteria; and finally, evaluating the results. utilizing databases such as Pubmed, Willey Online Library, ProQuest, and Google Scholar to conduct literature searches; Select articles with a PRISMA Flowchart that describes the search process; execute data charting and critical appraisal; compile and report results.Result: 10 relevant articles have grade A and grade B out of the 103 items that were selected using confidence. Quantitative and qualitative research were used to create these articles. Several factors that influence the inability of exclusive breastfeeding include education knowledge, age parity, nipple pain, workplace, work facilities, workload, support culture. Conclusion: Internal and external factors influence the success of exclusive breastfeeding, the internal aspects including education and knowledge, age and parity, and nipple pain. Workplace, work facilities, workload, support, and culture all are external factors. The failure of exclusive breastfeeding is influenced by several internal and external factors Therefore, it is hoped that the second factor can be a concern to reduce the incidence of unsuccessful exclusive breastfeeding.

Abstract

The rapid spread of the Covid-19 virus has impacted economic, social, environmental, and health challenges. One of them is maternal and child health services, such as reducing contraceptive use by 10% in some low and middle-income countries (LMIC) to prevent and control COVID-19. Quality family planning services affect satisfaction and correlate with continuity of family planning use. This study aims to determine the relationship between family planning acceptor satisfaction and the quality of family planning services during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study used quantitative research with a cross-sectional. The study population was women of child-bearing age (WCBA) aged 15-49 years who received non-natural family planning services in Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta, starting in March 2020. The sampling technique used was consecutive sampling. All research data were collected online (Google Forms). The total sample size was 171 respondents. The analysis used was the Chi-Square test and logistic regression. The results showed that the satisfaction of family planning acceptors with the quality of family planning services during the COVID-19 pandemic in Sleman Regency was 93.6%. There is a significant relationship between the satisfaction of family planning acceptors and the quality of family planning services in tangible, reliability, responsiveness, assurance, and empathy (p < 0.05). There was no association between family planning acceptor satisfaction with age, occupation, education, and health facilities. The quality of family planning services with the tangible dimension was 8.376 times more likely to result in family planning acceptor satisfaction (p=0.026; 95% CI=1.284-54.631). Strengthening cooperation between health service providers, health workers, and all relevant stakeholders is needed to maintain the quality of family planning services, and ensuring the availability and access to family planning services in the community is a strategy for family planning services in the new normal of the coming era.

Abstract

Introduction: Pneumonia is a global problem with a significant cause of death for more than 2 million children under five every year. Mothers’ behavior in seeking treatment is one of the main factors of delay in getting proper treatment by increasing the risk of recurrence pneumonia among children under five. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between the mother's behavior in seeking treatment with the recurrence rate of pneumonia among children under five. Method: This research method was an observational analytic study with the cross-sectional approach. The number of samples in this study was 47 mothers with toddlers pneumonia. The sampling technique was using purposive sampling and data analysis used Chi-square and multiple logistic regression. Result: The study found, there was a relationship between the mothers’ behavior in seeking treatment with the recurrence rate of pneumonia among children under five (PR = 12,000; CI95%=2,275-63,285; p = 0.003). One of confounding variables namely the cost of treatment had relationship with the recurrence rate of pneumonia. Whereas the variables of mother's knowledge, access to services, and distance of residence are not related to the recurrence rate of pneumonia in infants. The results of multiple logistic regression analysis found that mothers’ behavior in seeking of the treatment, treatment cost, and distance of residence affect 51.2% of the recurrence rate of pneumonia among children under five in Yogyakarta. Conclusion: The mothers’ behavior in seeking treatment, the cost of treatment, and distance of residence affect the recurrence rate of pneumonia among children under five.

Abstract

Background:  Data related to stunting rates known by country include Thailand (10.5%), Sri Lanka (27.3%), Maldives (20.3%), North Korea (27.9%), Myanmar (29.2%). ), Bhutan (33.6%), Nepal (35.8%), Bangladesh (36.1%), Timor Leste (50.2%), India (38.4%), and Indonesia (36.4% ). Referring to the results of the Basic Health Research (Riskesdas) conducted every 5 years, it is known that the percentage of stunting in Indonesia has decreased from 37.2% in 2013 to 30.8% in 2018. Growth and development are closely related to stunting are considered an important indicator of inequality in child health. This can be caused by several factors, both before and after giving birth in the developmental phase, including poor nutrition, household environment, and parents' education and economy. Research Objectives: This study aims to systematically map the research carried out in this field and identify factors that influence stunting growth and development. Methods:  The method used is Prism Flowchart (Preferred Reporting Items For Systematic review and Meta-Analyses). It is used to describe the flow of the literature search. Article searches were conducted using 3 databases (PubMed, Wiley, and ProQuest). The inclusion criteria for articles are articles published in 2015-2020, in English and discuss the Factors Affecting the Growth and Development of Children with Stunting. The article search flow is described using the PRISMA Flowchart, while the article quality assessment is carried out using Hawker and CASP. The next stage is the preparation of data and reporting of results. Result:  Based on the critical appraisal results from 12 articles that have been selected through the cross-sectional method, 11 articles were obtained (A1, A2 A3, A4, A5, A6, A7, A8, A10, A11, A12) and 1 study cohort article (A9). Based on the quality of the articles that have undergone critical appraisal, it was found that several articles obtained grade B (A1, A2, A3, A4, A6, A7, A8, A9, A10, A11, A12) and 1 article received grade D (A5). Conclusion: The findings from this scoping review are that the child's gender, child's age, mother's age, mother's education, mother's occupation, wealth, economy, nutritional status before and after giving birth, clean water sanitation, latrine management, hygiene, and environmental factors, have an effect on stunting which may hinder the growth and development of children in the future.
