Abstract

Background: According to the Basic Health Research (RISKESDAS) data, the exclusive breastfeeding rate in Indonesia in 2022 was 67.96%. Data from 2021 indicated that Jambi Province had a rate of exclusive breastfeeding below the national average. Providing counseling to breastfeeding mothers and offering additional support through the use of galactagogues aims to enhance knowledge, attitudes, and practices among postpartum mothers to support the process of milk production. Purpose: To assess the impact of educational videos about galactagogues on the knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors of postpartum mothers. Methods: A quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group was used. Sampling was conducted using probability sampling with a systematic sampling technique based on odd-even selection, with an average sample size of 16 postpartum mothers per group. The instruments used included questionnaires for knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors, and educational videos. Data analysis employed the Wilcoxon test, Mann-Whitney test, and MANCOVA. Results: The study found significant p-values for the educational video media in pretest-posttest assessments: knowledge (p-value = 0.001), attitudes (p-value = 0.001), and behaviors (p-value = 0.002). Educational videos were found to be more effective than lecture-based media, with p-values of 0.000 for knowledge, 0.005 for attitudes, and no significant effect on behavior with a p-value of 0.137. The test MANCOVA showed that age, education, and occupation did not significantly affect changes in knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors. Conclusion: There is a significant impact of providing galactagogue education through video media on the knowledge and attitudes of postpartum mothers. Although there were changes in behavior before and after the video intervention, no significant difference was found between the video and lecture media regarding behavior. It is recommended to use video media as an educational tool in classes for pregnant and postpartum mothers, because it is more interesting, efficient, and easily accessible to mothers.

Abstract

Despite the pivotal role of Islamic universities, there remains a gap in understanding their transformative potential in addressing contemporary challenges exacerbated by globalization and modernization. Issues such as ethical enrichment alongside intellectual development pose challenges that require exploration.Existing literature highlights the dual challenge of balancing intellectual rigor with ethical enrichment within Islamic educational settings. However, specific insights into how Islamic campuses integrate these elements to foster transformative change remain underexplored. This study aims to explore the concept of Islamic campuses as transformative and progressive agents, focusing on their role in integrating Islamic values with modern knowledge and addressing societal challenges through education and community engagement.Findings from this literature-based research reveal that Islamic campuses, exemplified by Universitas 'Aisyiyah Yogyakarta, effectively integrate Islamic principles into their educational framework. Results indicate substantial progress in facilities such as mosques, libraries, and classrooms reflecting Islamic values, thereby enhancing the holistic development of students. This study contributes to understanding how Islamic campuses navigate the intersection of traditional Islamic teachings with contemporary educational demands, offering insights into their role as agents of ethical and intellectual transformation. The findings underscore the importance of integrating Islamic ethics with modern education, emphasizing the potential of Islamic campuses to foster socially responsible graduates equipped to address global challenges while upholding Islamic values

Abstract

The number of low-birth-weight babies (LBW) who returned to the hospital after returning home had increased from 2015 to 2016. The results of the interview revealed that mothers who had LBW did not thoroughly understand providing care for LBW after returning from the hospital. This study aims to determine the effect of health education on a mother's knowledge, attitude and behaviour in providing care to LBW. This study is quasi-experimental with a pre-posttest approach non-equivalent to the control group, with 66 respondents fulfilling the inclusion criteria. The inclusion criteria in this study were post-partum mothers on the second day who had babies with a birth weight of 1500 grams-2499 grams and were willing to be respondents. The sampling technique was purposive sampling. The statistical test employed independent t-test, paired t-test, and chi-square. Knowledge scores before and after treatment were significantly different in the intervention group and control group, with a p-value in the intervention group 0.00, while the knowledge and attitude scores in the control group were 0.00 and the behavioural scores were 0.11. There was a significant difference in the increase in knowledge, attitudes and behaviour scores in both groups. The p-value of knowledge and attitudes is 0.00, and the p-value of behaviour is 0.01. Hence, there is an increase in mothers' knowledge, attitudes, and behaviour after being provided with health education using a booklet.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Nausea and vomiting during pregnancy, especially in the first trimester, are common complaints often experienced by pregnant women and can develop into emesis or even hyperemesis gravidarum. One of the most researched non-pharmacological treatments is the use of ginger (Zingiber officinale), which is known to have active ingredients such as gingerol and volatile oils that work as a natural antiemetic. The purpose of this scoping review is to evaluate the effectiveness of ginger in reducing nausea and vomiting in pregnant women. This study is a scoping review that aims to evaluate the effectiveness of ginger in reducing nausea and vomiting in pregnant women. Literature searches were conducted through various databases such as PubMed, ScienceDirect, Wiley, Research Rabbit, and Google Scholar, using the PRISMA-ScR framework and the PICO approach. Of the 1262 articles identified, 9 articles met the inclusion criteria and were evaluated for quality using JBI guidelines. The review showed that ginger, whether in the form of warm drink, decoction, ginger milk, or capsules, was significantly effective in reducing the frequency and intensity of nausea and vomiting. The effectiveness of ginger is even comparable to vitamin B6 in short-term use.Based on the literature reviewed, ginger is effective and safe to reduce nausea and vomiting during pregnancy, especially in the first trimester. Abstract

The study aims to investigate the scientific evidence concerning breastfeeding and exclusive breastfeeding experiences among women with physical disabilities. Exclusive breastfeeding entails providing only breast milk to infants from birth to 6 months old, excluding any other food or drinks except medications and vitamins. However, breastfeeding is not halted after exclusive breastfeeding; it continues until the child is two years old. Utilising the scoping review method, the research employed the Population, Concept, and Context (PCC) framework. Six articles meeting the inclusion criteria were identified from a pool of 1,553 articles from PubMed, ScienceDirect, Wiley, and Research Rabbit databases. These articles shed light on the challenges, experiences, barriers, and support systems related to breastfeeding and childcare encountered by women with physical disabilities. The research on breastfeeding experiences among women with physical disabilities reveals both facilitators and barriers. Facilitators include adaptations, peer support, and necessary equipment, while barriers encompass insufficient support, health considerations, and milk production and latching challenges. These findings underscore the importance of tailored support and access to information for women with physical disabilities who aim to breastfeed effectively. Implementing such support mechanisms can contribute to improving breastfeeding rates among this demographic, thus promoting the health and well-being of both mothers and infants while addressing societal attitudes toward disability issues.
