Abstract

Questioning skills, which are identified as higher-order thinking skills, are needed nowadays. In reality, some of the students, including university students, still lacking in confidence to pose their questions. The teaching materials and method that can develop students' questioning skills, such as electronic modules which developed based on industrial revolution 4.0 and adjusted to students' demand as the millennial generation, are necessary. The electronic module integrates with STEM learning is the best way to solve the students' questioning skills problem. The research purpose is to develop a STEM-based E-module to investigate the development of students' questions quality. The research method used in this research are R&D with design ADDIE (Analyze, Design, Develop, Implementation, and Evaluation), while the E-Module are implemented to the students, the qualitative descriptive method is used. The instrument used to collect some data on this research are video transcription, application transcription, reading test, and questionnaire. This research has been conducted on 26 university students who took Science Environmental Technology and Social (SETS) course. Questions' quality rubrics are used to analyze the data. As a result of this research, the implementation of developed STEM-based E-Modules is achievable. After implementation, the result of the student's question quality in general, including both pojok inquiry and pojok eksplorasi activity, is attained. There are improvements shown from activity 1 and activity 2 on pojok inquiry activity but decreased in activity 3. As for pojok eksplorasi, students’ generated question quality is improved gradually. It can be concluded that students’ generated questions quality is slightly developed, which means that it is attained at the beginning of the open question category as higher-level quality. The novel finding of this research is the question’s quality from the lecturer might have some influence on the quality of students’ questions.

Abstract

The purpose of creating smart modules is to enhance the quality of technology-based learning and increase student-teacher engagement, based on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This e-module development employs research and development (R&D) methods to produce and evaluate educational products. The aim of product development is to enhance practicality, efficiency, and effectiveness, which are evaluated through testing. The interactive module was validated by electronic media experts, linguists, and material experts, achieving a validation rate of 93.80%, 98.40%, and 94%, respectively. These results indicate that the module is highly effective and valid. According to the Electronic Readability Test, the module scored 97.50%, placing it in the highly suitable category. The effectiveness of the smart module product on water cycle material was evaluated based on the average pretest, posttest, and n-gain scores, as well as teacher and student response questionnaires from 15 respondents. The average pretest, posttest, and n-gain scores were 64.66, 86.33, and 0.60 (60%), respectively, indicating a medium level of effectiveness with a fairly effective outcome. Furthermore, according to teacher and student surveys, 92% and 93.80% respectively found the software to be highly suitable. So, it can be concluded that the a smart module considered valid, practical, and effective.

Abstract

ENThis research is to develop Arduino-based learning media products on human excretory system material to improve students' cognitive abilities. The background of this study is the limitations and lack of learning media used, as well as the low mastery of concepts in the excretory system material. The feasibility of learning media is seen from the average score of the validator's assessment. The research instruments used were expert and science teacher validation sheets, teacher and student response questionnaires, and cognitive ability test questions. The results of the research based on the results of the validator's assessment show that the resulting Arduino-based learning media has a feasibility value for all aspects indicated by an average of 82.47%. Based on the student response questionnaire, the average score was 85.47%. Based on the teacher's response questionnaire, an average score of 100% is included in the good category, this shows that Arduino-based learning media is appropriate for use in learning. Based on the results of the N-Gain trial, an increase in students' cognitive abilities was obtained by 0.62 in the moderate category and showed that the media was effectively used. Therefore it can be concluded that the use of Arduino-based learning media in the material of the human excretory system in effective learning is to improve students' cognitive abilities.IDPenelitian ini merupakan penelitian bertujuan untuk mengembangkan produk media pembelajaran berbasis Arduino pada materi sistem eksresi manusia untuk meningkatkan kemampuan kognitif peserta didik. Latar belakang dari penelitian ini yaitu keterbatasan dan kurangnya media pembelajaran yang digunakan, serta masih rendahnya penguasaan konsep pada materi sistem ekskresi. Kelayakan media pembelajaran dilihat dari rata-rata skor penilaian validator. Instrument penelitian yang digunakan adalah lembar validasi ahli dan guru IPA, angket respon guru dan peserta didik, dan soal tes kemampuan kognitif. Hasil penelitian berdasarkan hasil penilaian validator menunjukkan bahwa media pembelajaran berbasis Arduino yang dihasilkan memiliki nilai kelayakan untuk keseuruhan aspek ditunjukkan dengan rata-rata sebesar 82,47%. Berdasarkan angket respon peserta didik mendapatkan nilai rata-rata sebesar 85,47% dengan kategori baik. Berdasarkan angket respon guru mendapatkan nilai rata-rata 100% termasuk dalam kategori baik, hal ini menujukkan bahwa media pembelajaran berbasis Arduino layak digunakan dalam pembelajaran. Berdasarkan hasil uji coba N-Gain diperoleh peningkatan kemampuan kognitif peserta didik sebesar 0,62 dan menunjukkan bahwa media efektif digunakan. Oleh karena itu dapat disimpulkan penggunaan media pembelajaran berbasis Arduino pada materi sistem ekskresi manusia dalam pembelajaran efektif untuk meningkatkan kemampuan kognitif peserta didik.

Abstract

ENThis research was a quasi-experimental experiment. This study aimed to determine the differences in Problem-Solving Abilities (KPM) using Discovery and Conventional learning models. The study was conducted in March-October 2018. The population in this study was class X in one of the private high schools in Bogor Regency for the 2017/2018 academic year. The sampling technique uses purposive sampling techniques. The sample for the experimental class was class X MIPA B, treated using the Discovery Learning learning model with 40 students. Class X MIPA A was treated using a conventional learning model with 40 students with instruments to solve problems (KPM). The results of the t-test show differences in problem-solving abilities between students who learn to use the Discovery Learning model and Conventional learning models. Discovery Learning class groups are higher than Conventional class groups; this can be seen from the average N-Gain score of problem-solving abilities in the Discovery Learning class of 50 and Conventional class groups of 42. Therefore, the Discovery Learning learning model is used in biodiversity material to improve students' biological problem-solving abilities. IDPenelitian ini merupakan penelitian Kuasi eksperimen. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui Kemampuan Memecahkan Masalah (KPM) menggunakan model pembelajaran Discovery Learning. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada bulan Maret- Oktober 2018. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah kelas X di salah satu SMA Swasta di Kabupaten Bogor tahun akademik 2017/2018. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik Purposive Sampling. Sampel untuk kelas eksperimen adalah kelas X MIPA B diberi perlakuan dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran Discovery Learning dengan jumlah 40 siswa dan kelas X MIPA A diberi perlakuan menggunakan model pembelajaran Konvensional dengan jumlah 40 siswa dengan instrumen kemampuan memecahkan masalah(KPM). Berdasarkan hasil uji t menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan kemampuan pemecahan masalah antara siswa yang belajar menggunakan model pembelajaran Discovery Learning dan pembelajaran Konvensional. kelompok kelas Discovery Learning lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan kelompok kelas Konvensional, hal tersebut dapat dilihat dari skor rata-rata N-Gain kemampuan pemecahan masalah pada kelompok kelas Discovery Learning sebesar 48,40 dan kelompok kelas Konvensional sebesar 41.95. Oleh karena itu, model pembelajaran Discovery Learning dapat digunakan pada materi keanekaragaman hayati dalam meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah biologi siswa.
