Abstract

The waste problem remains a serious issue, necessitating the instilling of environmental awareness from an early age. Observations at Puri Cendekia IES Kindergarten indicate that children aged 5–6 years are unable to properly separate organic and inorganic waste, as their practice is limited to disposing of waste appropriately. This study aims to see the efect of the MARKISAH (Let's Sort Waste) educational game to improve children's waste management skills. The pre-experimentmethod used the ADDIE model, involving 14 children in Group B. Data were collected through expert validation, teacher response questionnaires, pretests and posttests. Data were then analyzed descriptively and quantitatively using N-Gain. The results showed that the MARKISAH game was effective, with an N-Gain value of 0.7390 (73.90%), in the high category. Thus, this game is proven to be feasible and effective in helping children understand and correctly separate organic and inorganic waste.

Abstract

Arabic language learning at the junior high school level plays an important role in developing students’ foundational language competencies, particularly listening skills as the basis for speaking skills. However, instructional practices are still largely dominated by text-based methods, resulting in limited authentic oral exposure and causing students to experience difficulties in understanding spoken Arabic. This study aims to describe the implementation of Arabic-Listening Speaking media in teaching listening skills at SMP Muhammadiyah 06 Dau Malang, based on Stephen Krashen’s Second Language Acquisition Theory, specifically the Input Hypothesis and the Affective Filter Hypothesis. The research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observations, and documentation, and were analyzed using the Miles, Huberman, and Saldana model, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the systematic use of audio media, interactive videos, and applications through the stages of pre-listening, whilst-listening, and post-listening provides authentic and contextual input in accordance with the i+1 principle. The media enhance vocabulary mastery, intonation, and sentence structure, while also fostering students’ motivation, participation, and self-confidence. Repetition, scaffolding, and collaborative strategies effectively address learning barriers, demonstrating that the media optimally support the improvement of listening skills. Abstract

This research was motivated by the low level of students' critical thinking skills in Islamic Religious Education learning. This condition is indicated by the percentage of students' critical thinking abilities, where 50% of students are categorized as having moderate critical thinking skills, 30% as having critical thinking skills, and 20% as not demonstrating critical thinking skills. To overcome this problem, effective learning models are needed to improve students' critical thinking abilities. Two learning models considered relevant are Problem Based Learning (PBL) and Project Based Learning (PjBL). However, both models have their own advantages and limitations, therefore it is necessary to examine the effectiveness of these two learning models in the learning process. This study used a quantitative approach with a 2×2 factorial design. The population consisted of 145 students, while the sample involved 58 students selected through random sampling and divided into two learning groups. Data on students' critical thinking skills were collected through essay tests and analyzed using a t-test, considering subgroups of students with high and low prior abilities. The results showed that students’ critical thinking skills using the Problem Based Learning model were better than those using the Project Based Learning model among students with high prior ability (p = 0.038 < 0.05). Meanwhile, for students with low prior ability, there was no significant difference between the two learning models (p = 0.91 > 0.05). Overall, there was a significant difference in students’ critical thinking skills between the PBL and PjBL models regardless of students’ prior abilities (p = 0.031 < 0.05).
