Abstract

Rice production in Cakru Village, Kencong District, Jember Regency, is strongly supported by extensive paddy fields and the active role of farmer groups in maintaining food-crop productivity. A major constraint faced by farmers is the recurrent attack of rice field rats, particularly during the vegetative and generative stages of rice growth. This community service activity aimed to improve farmers’ knowledge and practical capacity in applying an Integrated Pest Management-based rat control module for rice cultivation. The program was implemented from September to October 2025 in partnership with Gapoktan Jaya Abadi, Cakru Village. The method consisted of initial coordination, field survey and observation, problem identification, preparation of an extension module, and participatory socialization. The module emphasized ecological rat management through habitat sanitation, synchronized planting, monitoring of active burrows, mechanical control, rational use of control inputs, and conservation of natural enemies, especially the barn owl (Tyto alba). Evaluation was conducted using observation sheets, discussion records, attendance, pre-test and post-test instruments, and participant feedback. The activity increased farmers’ understanding of rat bioecology, early detection of field infestation, and the importance of collective control at the landscape level. Farmers showed positive responses to the module because it translated technical concepts into simple field practices that could be implemented by farmer groups. The program also strengthened the role of Gapoktan as a local institution for coordinating monitoring, documentation, and follow-up actions. Sustainable implementation requires periodic mentoring, demonstration plots, development of barn owl habitat support, and integration with local agricultural extension services. This activity indicates that module-based extension can become an effective entry point for promoting environmentally sound and farmer-centered rat management in rice production areas.

Abstract

Counseling on cohabitation from the perspectives of Islam and local culture plays an important role in supporting sustainable tourism in Setanggor Village. This activity was carried out through a legal counseling method involving village officials, community leaders, religious leaders, traditional leaders, and tourism stakeholders within the community. The counseling was conducted using persuasive and participatory approaches to enhance public understanding of the importance of maintaining religious norms, customs, and local cultural identity amid the development of modern tourism. The results showed that the counseling method was quite effective in building public legal awareness, enabling the community to maintain a balance between tourism development and the preservation of Islamic values and the local culture of the Sasak community.

Abstract

Empowering Etawa crossbred (PE) goat farmers through crop-livestock integration is a sustainable strategy to increase productivity and income. This system synergizes the use of crop waste as feed and livestock manure as organic fertilizer, thereby increasing efficiency, reducing production costs, strengthening household economic resilience, and supporting the sustainability of the Genggelang Village agroecosystem, North Lombok. This community service program aims to: (1) increase the knowledge and skills of PE goat farmers through the implementation of a crop-Etawah crossbreed goat (PE) integration system, which is oriented towards increasing productivity and business efficiency, and strengthening group capacity; (2) provide hands-on practical examples and technical assistance in PE goat management, so that farmers not only understand the concept but are also able to implement it independently; (3) strengthen partnerships and build synergies between the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Mataram, and the farming community in the development and implementation of agricultural technology innovations. The method used was a community development approach based on adult learning, involving 15 farmer group members as participants. The results of the activity indicate that (1) there was an increase in the knowledge and skills of farmers through the implementation of a crop-Etawah crossbreed goat (PE) integration system, which is oriented towards increasing productivity and business efficiency. (2) This program can strengthen the group's managerial capacity in optimizing local potential, and (3) collaborative communication between academics and farmers/breeders in developing PE goat-based agriculture.

Abstract

The breeding cattle kadasan program initiated by the Indonesian Ulema Council of West Nusa Tenggara Province (MUI-NTB) has been implemented for the past two years and needs to be evaluated to assess its progress and identify challenges encountered during its implementation. The evaluation was carried out through direct field observations at the cattle farming site, as well as interviews with farmers and local village officials. The results showed that the livestock farming activities have continued to operate well, as indicated by an increase in cattle population from 9 to 12 head. The housing facilities were found to be relatively good, more spacious, and well maintained, thereby supporting better animal health and management. Nevertheless, one case of calf mortality following parturition was reported. Overall, the cattle were in good health condition and exhibited satisfactory growth performance. In addition, farmers’ motivation and enthusiasm for cattle farming increased significantly, particularly after participating in training programs on silage production and organic fertilizer processing. Based on the evaluation findings, it can be concluded that the cattle kadasan program developed by MUI-NTB has been successfully implemented and shows strong potential to enhance both the welfare and farming capacity of local farmers.

Abstract

This program focused on empowering the Ampenan Fishermen Community through training in fish‑based products such as dim sum and sausages, designed to support stunting prevention efforts and improve household economic resilience in West Nusa Tenggara. Stunting is a chronic nutritional problem that remains a national development priority due to its long‑term impact on human resource quality and competitiveness. In 2022, the prevalence of stunting in West Nusa Tenggara Province (NTB) was still high at 32.7%. Contributing factors include inadequate nutritional intake, limited socioeconomic conditions, and suboptimal utilization of nutrient‑rich local food sources. Fish, as a high‑quality animal protein source, represents a local potential for stunting prevention. Bintaro Village in Ampenan District is one of NTB’s major fish‑producing areas; however, local fishermen’s households have generally limited fish utilization to fresh sales or simple products with low economic value. This community service program, conducted on June 2, 2026, aimed to increase the added value of fish products by training participants (wives and young women) from the Ampenan Fishermen Community in the preparation of nutritious fish‑based products, namely dim sum and sausages. The methods included nutrition education, product demonstration, and direct technical mentoring. The choice of products was based on their popularity, especially among children, making them potential supplementary foods to support stunting prevention while also opening new economic opportunities. The program demonstrated that simple, affordable technology combined with skill training can empower fishing community households to diversify fish products, improve nutritional intake, and strengthen local economic resilience.

Abstract

Indonesia memiliki keanekaragaman tanaman obat yang sangat melimpah dan berpotensi dimanfaatkan sebagai apotek hidup untuk mendukung kesehatan serta pembelajaran berbasis lingkungan. Hal ini bertolak belakang dengan pemanfaatan tanaman obat di kalangan generasi muda, khususnya peserta didik, masih belum optimal. Lingkungan sekolah merupakan sarana strategis menanamkan pengetahuan, kesadaran, dan perilaku hidup sehat dan pemanfaatan tanaman obat sejak dini melalui apotek hidup. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk memberikan edukasi kepada peserta didik SMAN 1 Labuapi mengenai pengenalan, pengolahan, dan pemanfaatan tanaman apotek hidup sebagai upaya menjaga kesehatan secara mandiri berbasis kearifan lokal. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan menggunakan pendekatan deduktif melalui sosialisasi yang meliputi penyampaian materi, pemutaran video edukatif, demonstrasi sederhana pengolahan tanaman obat, dan diskusi interaktif. Pemberdayaan siswa secara langsung melalui kegiatan memberikan hasil yang positif, ditunjukkan dengan tingginya antusisasme peserta kegiatan sosialisasi.

Abstract

Kegiatan Kegiatan pengabdian yang dilaksanakan dalam rangka Penerimaan Mahasiswa Baru FKIP Universitas Mataram diarahkan untuk memperkuat pemahaman mahasiswa baru Program Studi Pendidikan Fisika mengenai identitas program studi, kehidupan kampus, etika akademik, serta kontribusi organisasi kemahasiswaan dalam mendukung pencapaian SDGs 4 tentang pendidikan berkualitas. Pelaksanaan kegiatan melibatkan 19 dosen Program Studi Pendidikan Fisika dan 75 mahasiswa baru yang terdiri atas 19 mahasiswa laki-laki dan 56 mahasiswa perempuan. Sosialisasi edukatif diterapkan melalui berbagai aktivitas, meliputi ceramah interaktif, diskusi, tanya jawab, pengenalan dosen, penguatan etika kampus, pengenalan Sistem Informasi Akademik, pengenalan budaya kehidupan perguruan tinggi, serta sosialisasi HMPS Pendidikan Fisika. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, dokumentasi, dan respons peserta selama kegiatan berlangsung, kemudian dianalisis menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif-kualitatif. Pelaksanaan kegiatan memberikan peningkatan pemahaman mahasiswa baru terkait visi dan misi program studi, sistem akademik, budaya kampus, peran dosen, etika akademik, serta fungsi organisasi mahasiswa sebagai sarana pengembangan diri. Selain itu, mahasiswa juga mulai memahami perbedaan budaya belajar antara sekolah dan perguruan tinggi, terutama pada aspek kemandirian, komunikasi akademik, tanggung jawab, dan integritas. Temuan tersebut memperlihatkan bahwa kegiatan penerimaan mahasiswa baru tidak hanya bersifat seremonial, melainkan menjadi tahapan awal dalam pembentukan identitas akademik dan sosial mahasiswa. Dengan demikian, kegiatan ini berkontribusi dalam meningkatkan kesiapan mahasiswa baru Program Studi Pendidikan Fisika untuk beradaptasi dengan kehidupan kampus secara lebih etis, adaptif, dan berorientasi pada pendidikan berkualitas.

Abstract

Pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan meningkatkan pemahaman, keterampilan, kreativitas, dan kesiapan mahasiswa Pendidikan Kimia sebagai calon guru dalam mengembangkan media pembelajaran kimia berbasis etnokimia Sasambo. Kegiatan dilaksanakan pada mahasiswa Pendidikan Kimia semester II dan IV dengan jumlah peserta 55 mahasiswa. Metode kegiatan meliputi sosialisasi, pelatihan, penerapan teknologi, pendampingan, evaluasi, serta tindak lanjut keberlanjutan program. Materi pelatihan mencakup penguatan konsep etnokimia, pemetaan budaya lokal Sasambo ke konsep kimia, pemilihan jenis media, penyusunan alur isi media, dan pemanfaatan teknologi seperti Canva, video pembelajaran, augmented reality, serta QR code. Evaluasi dilakukan menggunakan angket pretest dan posttest dengan skala empat kategori. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan rata-rata skor keseluruhan dari 2,34 pada pretest menjadi 3,40 pada posttest. Persentase respons positif mahasiswa juga meningkat dari 45,6% menjadi 95,8%. Peningkatan terjadi pada seluruh indikator, yaitu pemahaman etnokimia dan relevansi budaya, keterampilan pengembangan media, kreativitas dan inovasi pembelajaran, serta kesiapan calon guru. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa pelatihan mampu memperkuat kompetensi mahasiswa dalam menerjemahkan potensi budaya Sasambo menjadi media pembelajaran kimia yang kontekstual, kreatif, dan relevan dengan kehidupan peserta didik. Kegiatan ini menjadi bentuk penguatan kompetensi profesional calon guru kimia sekaligus mendukung pemanfaatan kearifan lokal sebagai sumber inovasi pembelajaran kimia.

Abstract

Rendahnya kemampuan siswa SMPN 17 Mataram dalam mengaitkan konsep sains dengan kehidupan sehari-hari, akibat pembelajaran yang masih berorientasi pada hafalan dan kurang kontekstual, menjadi latar belakang utama kegiatan pengabdian ini. Tujuan dari Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (PkM) ini adalah untuk meningkatkan pemahaman, literasi sains, serta motivasi belajar siswa melalui edukasi penerapan sains dalam konteks nyata. Metode pelaksanaan meliputi empat tahap: analisis kebutuhan melalui observasi dan wawancara, penyusunan program edukasi berbasis pendekatan kontekstual, pelaksanaan kegiatan berupa demonstrasi, eksperimen sederhana (seperti pembuatan es krim), serta diskusi interaktif, dan diakhiri dengan refleksi. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman siswa yang ditandai dengan kemampuan mereka menjelaskan kembali konsep IPA menggunakan contoh sehari-hari, serta munculnya sikap positif dan antusiasme tinggi, terutama dalam topik kesehatan, penghematan energi, dan pengelolaan lingkungan. Pembahasan menegaskan bahwa pembelajaran berbasis praktik dan kontekstual mampu meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis, kolaborasi, dan kesadaran ilmiah siswa. Kesimpulannya, kegiatan ini berhasil menjembatani kesenjangan antara teori dan praktik sains di sekolah. Implikasi dari PkM ini adalah perlunya pengembangan kegiatan serupa secara berkelanjutan dengan cakupan materi yang lebih luas dan metode yang lebih variatif sebagai strategi penguatan literasi sains di tingkat sekolah menengah pertama.

Abstract

Lobster and abalone cultivation with an integrated system is a technological innovation that has the potential for development, in addition to increasing business productivity with an integrated system capable of reducing environmental impacts and optimizing water quality to support the growth of cultivated commodities. Therefore, this integrated cultivation system needs to be disseminated to the farming community through various dissemination methods. Therefore, the purpose of this community service activity is to disseminate the integrated system of lobster and abalone cultivation to the community to address the productivity of the cultivation business through demonstration plots. The dissemination activity of the integrated system of lobster and abalone cultivation was carried out with the partners involved, namely the Pokdakan Pasir Putih Desa Ekas Buana. The activity stages include the stages of preparation of materials and tools, coordination and socialization, implementation of demplots, monitoring and evaluation. The results of this dissemination activity to the farming community are very effective through demonstration plot activities. The demonstration plot of lobster and abalone cultivation with an integrated system obtained a significant increase in the growth performance of lobster and abalone weight by 209% and 74%, respectively. The practice of an integrated lobster and abalone cultivation system is effective in overcoming the low productivity of floating net cage cultivation businesses, where farmers harvest two commodities, namely lobster and abalone.
