Abstract

Children of Indonesian migrant workers in Malaysia face limited access to formal education due to administrative and citizenship constraints. This situation leads to minimal career literacy, restricting their knowledge about various professions in society. As a result, these children often struggle with motivation and confidence in exploring career options that align with their potential and aspirations. This community service program aims to enhance the career literacy of migrant workers’ children through psychoeducational interventions. The method involves structured career psychoeducation sessions that introduce various professions, career pathways, and skill development opportunities. The program includes interactive discussions, career visualization activities, and hands-on workshops conducted in community learning centers where migrant workers' children receive informal education. Data collection was carried out through pre- and post-intervention assessments, including observations, interviews, and questionnaires to measure changes in career awareness and motivation. The results indicate that psychoeducation significantly improves children's understanding of different professions and the educational paths required to pursue them. Moreover, the program boosts their confidence in career planning and reduces anxiety about their future employment prospects. By providing psychological support and structured career guidance, this approach helps children develop skills and aspirations aligned with their career interests. Thus, psychoeducation serves as an effective strategy in supporting the children of Indonesian migrant workers in Malaysia, enabling them to unlock their full potential and prepare for the workforce more confidently and competently.

Abstract

The high recidivism rate in Indonesia indicates a strong correlation between economic pressure, social inequality, and the lack of skills among inmates, which contribute to repeated criminal behavior. This community engagement program aims to empower inmates through the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) approach, which focuses on utilizing community assets and potential to enhance skills and economic independence. The program is implemented in collaboration with various stakeholders, including Batik Ronggomukti and the Office of Cooperatives, Micro Enterprises, Trade, and Industry (Dinas Koperasi, Usaha Mikro, Perdagangan, dan Perindustrian – DKUPP) of Probolinggo Regency. The mentoring activities in this program consist of three main stages: (1) training in batik-making and merchandise production, (2) facilitating stakeholder involvement in skills development and product marketing, and (3) developing marketing strategies to establish a sustainable economic system. This program aims to enhance inmates' entrepreneurial skills, expand business networks with external partners, and reduce the social stigma often faced by former inmates. The implementation of this program has yielded significant outcomes, including the creation of more than 150 creative products with market value at local and national levels, as well as the establishment of five independent business groups among inmates. Additionally, there has been a 30% increase in participants' interpersonal skills and motivation, along with a 25% improvement in their readiness for social reintegration. The program's success has been supported by active stakeholder participation, consistent inmate engagement, and the continuous commitment of various partners in the rehabilitation and economic empowerment of inmates.

Abstract

The Merdeka Curriculum emphasizes flexible learning through three main components: intracurricular learning, co-curricular activities through the Strengthening Pancasila Student Profile Project (P5), and extracurricular activities. P5 is designed as an interdisciplinary learning approach focused on solving real-world problems while serving as a means to achieve the six dimensions of the Pancasila Student Profile. This community service project was carried out through socialization, workshops, and mentoring sessions with students in implementing P5 under the theme "Voice of Democracy," which centered on the student council (OSIS) election process. The outcomes of this project include: (1) a project product in the form of essays on the election process and the election of the OSIS president for the 2024-2025 academic year; (2) the development of a project module and teaching materials to support P5 implementation; (3) the systematic and structured execution of project activities; and (4) an improvement in the dimensions of the Pancasila Student Profile, with 11 students reaching the "developing as expected" category and 12 students reaching the "highly developed" category. The implementation of P5 is expected to internalize the values of the Pancasila Student Profile in students' daily lives, shaping a generation that is characterized by integrity, strong morals, and excellence. This project serves as a strategic step in preparing students to face future challenges with both academic skills and strong character.

Abstract

This community engagement program aims to provide training and assistance in enhancing the capacity of seafood processing businesses managed by women in coastal areas of Tanjung Jabung Barat, Sumatra. Local seafood products such as kletek and shrimp crackers are among the region’s leading commodities. However, these businesses are still considered secondary sources of income and lack the necessary legal certifications for market expansion. This program employs a capacity-building approach by facilitating business legality processes, including obtaining Halal Certification (HC), Business Identification Number (NIB), and Home Industry Food Production License (PIRT). The program is designed to fully involve business owners in training and mentoring activities. The training sessions begin with theoretical materials to enhance participants' understanding of business legality, halal compliance, and certification procedures. Practical sessions follow, where participants receive guidance on obtaining NIB, PIRT, and preparing the Halal Product Assurance System (HPAS) documents through the Sihalal platform. The results indicate a significant increase in participants' knowledge regarding the importance of business legality and halal certification processes. Additionally, there was a behavioral shift, as participants who initially lacked the ability to process business legality independently became capable of accessing various online platforms for business registration and certification. This program thus contributes to strengthening the competitiveness of seafood processing businesses led by coastal women in Tanjung Jabung Barat..

Abstract

Indonesian has great potential in the fisheries sector, with vaname shrimp as a leading commodity due to its competitive price and efficient cultivation. However, many shrimp farmers in Keputih Village, Surabaya City still lack an understanding of the importance of monitoring and managing pond water quality. In response to this, the Master of Applied Electrical Engineering and Master of Applied Informatics and Computer Engineering teams at Politeknik Elektronika Negeri Surabaya (PENS) introduced an IoT-based Water Quality Meter module. This program not only provides real-time water quality monitoring technology that can be accessed via smartphone or laptop, but also provides training and assistance to pond farmers in adopting this technology. Evaluation results show that pond farmers can operate the module well to monitor water quality parameters, making it easier to monitor ponds accurately and practically. The community service program is expected to increase yields, strengthen collaboration between academics and communities, and encourage the adoption of modern technology in shrimp farming.

Abstract

Abstract. This community service program aims to accelerate the digitalization of education in Pesisir Barat Regency, Lampung Province, through the implementation of Content Delivery Network (CDN) technology using Starlink services and the Learning Management System (LMS) Moodle. The 3T areas (frontier, outermost, and underdeveloped) in this region face infrastructure challenges that hinder stable and fast internet access, which is crucial to support technology-based learning processes. This program involves the installation of network devices, such as Starlink for stable internet access, gigabit switches, and the integration of the Moodle-based e-learning system. Additionally, intensive training is provided to teachers, administrators, and students on using Moodle as a digital learning platform and managing technology-based educational content. The program's success is measured through several parameters, including internet stability and speed, the improvement of digital skills among teachers and students, and the adoption and utilization rates of LMS Moodle in the learning process. Speed test results show a significant improvement. Survey results indicate a substantial impact on teachers' digital literacy. Based on questionnaires distributed to a total of 30 training participants, 60% (18 participants) reported being very satisfied with the alignment of the training materials with their needs. Regarding the delivery of the materials, 63.33% (19 participants) were very satisfied, 26.67% (8 participants) were satisfied, 6.66% (2 participants) were neutral, and 3.33% (1 participant) were very dissatisfied. Direct observation during the implementation showed that teachers could effectively utilize Moodle LMS to manage digital classes. They were trained to create and organize teaching materials, assign tasks, and monitor student progress. This evaluation also highlights the potential for replicating and sustaining the program in other schools within similar regions. Through this evaluation approach, the program is expected to have a tangible impact on improving the quality of learning, expanding digital access, and serving as a model for implementation in other 3T areas across Indonesia.
