Abstract

Assessment plays an essential role in decision-making related to student success, especially in the Independent Curriculum, which encourages a holistic assessment approach. This Community Service Program (PKM) aims to improve the skills of SMA/SMK/MA teachers in Leihitu District in compiling alternative assessments that are able to evaluate various aspects of student competency. This PKM was carried out for two days with training and mentoring methods. The activities were divided into two parts, namely two-day training and the second part was mentoring in compiling assessments. The results of this training showed an increase in teachers' ability to compile alternative assessments from the sufficient category to the good category. This finding confirms that the PKM activity has succeeded in improving teachers' ability to compile alternative assessments in the implementation of the Independent Curriculum. These results show the importance of ongoing training for teachers to support the implementation of more effective assessments in accordance with the Independent Curriculum, which ultimately strengthens the quality of decisions related to student learning development.

Abstract

Mathematics is one of the sciences that plays an important role in human life. Therefore, mathematics is taught in elementary school, middle school, and college. Not a few students have difficulty understanding basic mathematical concepts. Therefore, teachers need to be creative in preparing learning media that support learning and make it easier for students to understand the concepts taught. Therefore, this community service activity is more directed at teaching assistance activities. This activity was carried out in several elementary schools on the island of Nusa Laut. The schools involved in the teaching assistance activities for mathematics subjects were State Elementary Schools 168 and 35, Central Maluku. The teaching assistance team, especially for mathematics subjects, prepares the materials needed for the activity, including LKPD (Student Activity Sheets), teaching materials, and demonstration tools. Based on the results of students' work on LKPD, student performance during presentations, and the results of feedback, it was found that most students had understood the material taught, and students were also happy with the learning that had been done

Abstract

Mangrove ecosystems are productive ecosystems, and serve as a buffer between land and sea. Fishermen have a very important role in maintaining mangrove ecosystems, they are direct users of the resources in the ecosystem. The purpose of this service activity is to increase public awareness, especially fishermen in Allang Asaude Village about the importance of mangrove ecosystems. Through understanding the importance of mangroves, fishermen can contribute to conservation efforts and sustainable resource management. Effective socialization and education can be seen through changes in attitudes and behaviors of the people of Allang Asaude Village towards mangrove ecosystem conservation. Based on the results of the evaluation that has been carried out, there is an increase in the understanding of fishermen and the community about the function and role of mangrove ecosystems. Thus, the sustainability of mangrove ecosystems is not only important for the environment but also crucial for the welfare of fishermen. With the right understanding and management strategies, as well as active participation from the community, the economic benefits of mangrove ecosystems can be maintained, as well as protecting and maintaining sustainable biodiversity

Abstract

Teaching assistance activities are carried out with the aim of sharing knowledge with teachers in other schools in Maluku. In this activity, there is a research-based learning practice that is applied in the Pattimura University Laboratory school. The stages carried out in this activity are: 1) preparation stage, 2) implementation stage, and 3) evaluation stage. Teaching assistance activities, especially the practice of research-based learning models carried out in Kairatu District, West Seram, went well and had a positive impact on teachers in Kairatu District. Teachers can directly see and practice how to learn by using a research-based learning model in elementary schools. In its implementation, the teachers showed high activity and enthusiasm when carrying out the learning process using the syntax of the research-based learning model. It is hoped that through this activity, teachers will gain knowledge and be able to apply research-based learning models in their respective schools

Abstract

Household organic waste such as banana and pineapple peels are often not optimally utilized, even though they contain nutrients that are good for plants. This community service activity aims to provide counseling and training on making environmentally friendly liquid fertilizer by utilizing banana and pineapple peel waste using EM4 activator to the community in Kamal Village, West Seram Regency (SBB), Maluku Province. Through a participatory approach, this activity involves the community directly in the process of making liquid fertilizer, starting from the preparation of ingredients, fermentation, to application to plants through foliar spraying and direct watering to the planting media with a measured dose (50-100 ml of liquid fertilizer / 1 liter of water) every 7 days. This activity was carried out in 2 stages including the extension and training stages, as well as the monitoring and evaluation stages. The results of the activity showed an increase in participants' knowledge and skills in managing organic waste into useful and environmentally friendly products. With this activity, it is hoped that the community can apply this simple technology independently to support sustainable agriculture and reduce environmental pollution

Abstract

Writing scientific papers is one of the important activities to demonstrate the professionalism of a teacher. SMKN 5 Langsa has approximately 37 teachers, 20 of whom are civil servants (ASN). The results of interviews with the Deputy Head of School at SMKN 5 Langsa indicate that many teachers are still not skilled in academic writing. Furthermore, they also face difficulties in preparing proper and accurate bibliographies. One of the software that can be used to compile bibliographies is Mendeley. The training is conducted through several stages, include observing the problems faced by the partners. It is followed by the socialization and training on academic writing and the use of Mendeley software. After conducting observations, the team held Focus Group Discussions (FGD) with the community partners. The team provided socialization to the partners regarding the development of teacher competencies in writing scientific articles and the use of Mendeley for academic references. Then, they provided training and mentoring. The conclusion of this activity is that the program ran smoothly, and the partners gained knowledge and PKM training to improve the quality of their scientific writing

Abstract

To prepare students for the rapidly evolving demands of the modern era, the Indonesian Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology introduced the Merdeka Curriculum. This curriculum provides schools and teachers with greater autonomy to design learning experiences tailored to local contexts, student potential, and individual characteristics. It emphasizes competency-based learning, integrating relevant skills and knowledge applicable to daily life and the labor market. The curriculum aims to foster creativity, critical thinking, and adaptability among students. Despite its progressive orientation, a significant challenge in its implementation is the readiness of educators. Addressing this issue requires collaborative efforts among schools, teachers, parents, communities, and the government. This community service program was designed to support teachers in implementing the Merdeka Curriculum, particularly in mathematics education. The program involved training and workshops on mathematical modeling projects aligned with the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project (P5). The primary objective was to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of curriculum implementation in mathematics and to assist them in designing student-centered project-based learning activities. The program was conducted in partnership with Immanuel Christian School, under the Kampung Bali Protestant Church Foundation in Pontianak, West Kalimantan. Overall, the mentoring activities have been highly positive, although certain materials require further refinement to ensure participants attain a more comprehensive understanding. The three strongest aspects of this program are the instructor’s deep mastery of the subject matter, the quality of the content presentation, and the organization of materials along with effective time allocation. Conversely, the aspects needing improvement are participants’ comprehension of the data analytics series, the overall relevance of the content to their needs, and their understanding of the matrix and Bayesian series
