Abstract

Osteoporosis is a metabolic bone disease characterized by decreased bone mass and microstructure damage, thus increasing the risk of fractures, especially in the elderly. Public knowledge about early prevention of osteoporosis is still relatively low, even though prevention can be done through a healthy lifestyle such as calcium and vitamin D consumption and regular exercise. This counseling aims to improve community knowledge through direct counseling conducted at Nusantara Health Primary Clinic, Medan Helvetia in May 2025. A total of 29 participants attended this activity and were evaluated using a post-test questionnaire. Results showed an average knowledge score of 100%, from the good category. The counseling proved effective in improving the community's understanding of osteoporosis and its prevention. Implementation constraints were due to lack of coordination between us and the community which made the community attend less because some people had posyandu activities carried out on the same day. This counseling is expected to increase the knowledge and awareness of the community at the Pratama Nusantara Health Clinic about the importance of preventing osteoporosis early on.

Abstract

Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR), Infant Mortality Rate (IMR), and Life Expectancy (UHH) are the main indicators in assessing the health status of the community. Based on data from the World Health Organization (WHO) in 2020, approximately 810 women die every day due to pregnancy complications. In Indonesia, the MMR has increased from 83 per 100,000 live births in 2022 to 98 per 100,000 in 2023. One of the main causes of the high maternal mortality rate is preeclampsia, which is a serious pregnancy disorder and is the second highest cause of maternal death (24%) after hemorrhage. Early detection through appropriate pregnancy examinations can prevent more severe complications. In Indramayu Regency, 1,567 cases of preeclampsia/eclampsia were recorded in 2023, spread across 49 Community Health Centers, with Plumbon Community Health Center recording the highest number of 59 cases. This community service activity was carried out in the Plumbon Community Health Center area, Indramayu District, Indramayu Regency. The goal of this activity was to improve community knowledge and skills in recognizing and preventing preeclampsia through the provision of holistic maternity nursing care. The activity included outreach and maternal health services, particularly in early detection of preeclampsia, over two days. The activity demonstrated high enthusiasm and received support from the community and village government, which is expected to contribute to reducing maternal morbidity and mortality in the area.

Abstract

Sexual education is a knowledge and skills that need to be given as early as possible to children regarding sexual behavior to face things that will happen in the future as they grow older and shape character and behavioral patterns to be able to avoid risky behaviors to open or deviant sexual behavior (Wijanarko et al., 2022). Sex education and knowledge about reproductive health among adolescents, where children grow into teenagers, they do not understand sexual education because parents still consider that talking about sex is taboo. So from this lack of understanding, adolescents feel irresponsible about their reproductive health. Socialization and sexual education are very necessary for parents, educators and education experts in providing parenting to children considering that the era will always develop in the digital era so that every parent understands more about how to behave according to applicable rules (Santrock, J. W. (2011).

Abstract

This community service aims to improve the tourism competency of natural dye batik artisans through training on the development of Tourism Human Resources for Natural Dye Batik Artisans at the Gunungpati Batik Center in Semarang. The use of natural dye writing until the inauguration of the natural dye batik gallery opened in January 2024. The gallery becomes a gathering place for batik artisans using natural dyes in Semarang City by implementing the Sustainable Development Goals. Batik Salma, Batik Zie, dan Batik Siputeri have good domestic marketing and sales with high demand from buyers, but there are obstacles from low sales at the Batik Center Gallery. Human Resources who still do not understand tourism competency in product sales will bring a multiplier effect. With adequate tourism understanding and satisfactory service, it will certainly be able to attract the interest of tourists, both domestic and international, to visit the batik gallery which will certainly have an impact on increasing the number of batik product sales from these artisans.

Abstract

Introduction: Non-communicable diseases such as hypertension and gout are major public health challenges because they can cause serious complications and reduce productivity. Unhealthy lifestyle factors are the main cause of the high number of NCD cases in the community.Objective: This activity aims to increase public awareness of the importance of healthy living and preventing hypertension and gout through various educational activities.Method: The methods used include health checks (blood pressure, blood sugar, and uric acid levels), public health education, implementation of hypertension and autogenic gymnastics, installation of promotional media (billboards), and education on Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS) to elementary school and kindergarten children. Evaluation was carried out through pre-tests and post-tests as well as participatory observation during the activity. Results: Of the 30 participants, several were found to have high blood pressure, blood sugar, or uric acid. Residents were very enthusiastic about participating in this activity. Children also enjoyed learning how to wash their hands and brush their teeth properly. Public knowledge increased after receiving education. Conclusion: This activity succeeded in helping the community understand the importance of maintaining health and preventing disease. The involvement of all groups, including children, makes this program run well and has a positive impact.

Abstract

The demand for motor vehicle components continues to increase in line with the development of the automotive industry and high customer demand. This condition requires manufacturers to make various innovations in increasing production capacity, speeding up processes, and reducing defect values (Not Good) in order to remain competitive in the market. One of the important processes in making components is sanding, which is the stage of smoothing the surface using sandpaper, both by manual and machine methods. The manual sanding process has several limitations, including varying accuracy of results, relatively slow processing speed, and a higher risk of work accidents. Therefore, more efficient, safe, and consistent technology is needed in producing optimal product quality. In order to answer these challenges, PT. Reingeniería Unggul Indonesia held a training program as well as the assembly of sanding machines with electric motor drives. The result of this activity is in the form of one sanding machine unit with a production capacity of 250 pcs per shift, with the lowest defect rate of only 2.6%. The machine is designed to improve work efficiency, reduce reliance on manual processes, and provide more precise smoothing results. The success of this program not only improves the quality of production, but also contributes to the improvement of employees' technical skills in operating modern machines. With this innovation, the company can meet the increasingly high market demand, while maintaining consistent product quality. In the future, this electric motor-based sanding machine is expected to be a sustainable solution for the automotive component industry that prioritizes speed, quality, and work safety.

Abstract

Usaha dalam melaksanakan kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kepedulian dan keterlibatan siswa UPT SMAN 7 Makassar dalam menjaga kebersihan Masjid Nurul Tarbiyah sebagai pusat kegiatan kerohanian di lingkungan sekolah. Masjid memiliki peran penting tidak hanya sebagai tempat beribadah, tetapi juga sebagai ruang pembinaan karakter keagamaan dan sosial. Namun, permasalahan utama yang dihadapi adalah kurangnya kepedulian terhadap kebersihan masjid, baik dari segi pemeliharaan fisik maupun pengelolaan lingkungan sekitar. Dengan  melalui kegiatan edukatif dan partisipatif seperti penyuluhan, kerja bakti bersama dengan Pengurus Rohis yang ada di UPT SMAN 7 Makassar, dan pembentukan tim kebersihan masjid berbasis siswa, program ini mendorong terciptanya rasa memiliki dan tanggung jawab bersama. Hasil pengabdian kepada masyarakat menunjukkan adanya peningkatan partisipasi aktif siswa dalam menjaga kebersihan masjid dan terbentuknya pola perilaku positif dalam kehidupan sekolah sehari-hari. Kegiatan ini diharapkan dapat menjadi salah satu model pemberdayaan berbasis sekolah yang dapat dilaksanakan secara berkelanjutan.

Abstract

Drug abuse poses a serious and growing threat to the younger generation, including children at the elementary school level. Given their developmental stage and vulnerability to external influences, it is essential to provide early education regarding the dangers of drugs to foster self-awareness and preventive behavior. This study aimed to improve the knowledge and attitudes of elementary school students toward drug abuse through a targeted awareness program. The activity took place at SD Negeri 173632 Porsea, Kabupaten Toba, involving 83 students aged 11–12 years. The method used was educational outreach consisting of interactive discussions, visual media presentations such as video screenings, and the implementation of both pre-tests and post-tests to assess knowledge and attitudinal changes. The program was carried out over two consecutive days and facilitated by a team of educators and health professionals. The results demonstrated a notable increase in students' understanding of various drug types, their negative health impacts, and strategies for prevention. Moreover, students showed increased enthusiasm in participating in discussions and demonstrated positive behavioral shifts by voicing their intentions to stay away from drugs. The findings indicate that structured and engaging drug education programs can effectively raise awareness and instill drug resistance at an early age. The study highlights the importance of incorporating such preventive education into the elementary school curriculum as part of a broader public health strategy. It also recommends ongoing collaboration between schools, parents, and community organizations to reinforce anti-drug messages and provide a supportive environment for youth development. This approach can play a vital role in safeguarding children from the risks of drug exposure and abuse.

Abstract

Reproductive system disorders are still a health problem that is often ignored by the public, especially among adolescents. Lack of knowledge leads to delays in detecting and treating reproductive problems that can lead to serious complications such as infertility and cancer. This community service activity aims to increase public understanding of the importance of early detection of reproductive system disorders through interactive counseling. The methods used are in the form of educational presentations, discussions, and simulations. The results of the activity showed an increase in participants' knowledge about anatomy, types of reproductive disorders, and early detection methods. This counseling is expected to be the first step in forming a society that cares about reproductive health.

Abstract

This Community Service Activity (PKM) aims to improve the understanding and skills of students at Harapan Bersama Vocational School, particularly those majoring in Hospitality, regarding ethics and grooming as preparation for Field Work Practices (PKL). The identified issue is the lack of student awareness about the importance of maintaining a professional attitude, presenting an appearance that meets industry standards, and applying proper ethics in service. To address this, the activity was implemented using an educational and participatory approach, which included the delivery of theoretical materials, hands-on practice, interactive discussions, and evaluations through pretest and posttest assessments. The results of the activity demonstrated a significant improvement in students' understanding, with the average pretest score of 61.25 increasing to 86.40 on the posttest. This indicates that the training successfully enhanced students' knowledge about the importance of ethics and grooming in the professional setting. Additionally, 100% of the participants reported that the training was useful and satisfying. This program had a positive impact in preparing students mentally and professionally for their future roles in the hospitality industry. The students not only gained insights into the ethical standards and grooming expected in the workplace, but also improved their professional attitudes and communication skills, which are crucial for succeeding in the competitive hotel industry. Furthermore, the training also contributed to fostering greater confidence in students, helping them adapt to the demands of the real-world work environment. This activity serves as an effective model for equipping vocational students with essential skills for their transition from education to professional practice, particularly in the service sector.
