Abstract

Tumbling is a marination method that combines the process of stirring and homogenizing so that the taste of spice from the marinade is optimally distributed into the meat. Based on the advantages of the tumbling machine, which can stabilize the texture and increase the weight of the carcass that has been cut, this can occur well. So, the researchers wanted to measure the amount of remaining spices in the tumbling machine and measure the yield (weight) before and after marinating. The research method used was a completely randomized design method using five treatments. The results obtained in this research for the 10% increase treatment obtained good results for use; for the 10% decrease treatment, the results were not good for use; for the 20% increase treatment, the results were good for use; and for the 20% decrease treatment, the results were not good for use.

Abstract

Background: Kandis tamarind has various activities, such as antioxidant, cytotoxic, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial. This study aimed to determine the total polyphenol content of kandis acid fruit and the types of phenolic compounds contained in kandis acid fruit. This type of research was experimental, using 70% ethanol solvent. The research method used was a polyphenol qualitative test, UV-Vis spectrophotometry, and LC-MS. The results of qualitative measurements showed that the samples contained polyphenolic compounds. The results of the polyphenol test on the kandis acid fruit sample on 1% FeCl3 reagent and diazo reagent got positive results, while the Millon reagent got negative results. The study's results show that the determination of the levels of polyphenol content in kandis acid fruit extract was measured using UV-VIS spectrophotometry by adhering to the working principle of Folin-Ciocalteau. The proof of polyphenol content used the Folin-Ciocalteau reagent because this reagent can react with a group of polyphenolic compounds to form a concentrated solution whose absorbance can be measured. The higher the sample concentration, the higher the absorbance value. The results of determining the polyphenol content of the kandis acid fruit extract using uv-vis spectrophotometry had a polyphenol compound component of 61.1015 mg GAE/g sample. The results of the LC-MS analysis for the highest phenolic compound, namely the type of vanillic acid, amounted to 14.21%.

Abstract

Introduction Sprains and fractured bones are treated with spider lily leaves (Crinum asiaticum L.). Alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, steroids, and triterpenoids are among the chemical components found in spider lily leaves. The most significant phytochemicals in plants with wide biological advantages for humans are bioactive flavonoids. The purpose of: The study aimed to isolate flavonoid components from spider lily leaves. Methods: This study was descriptive, using the following steps: plant material collection and preparation, sample processing, simplicia characterization, extract preparation, phytochemical screening, hydrolysis, fractionation, analysis using paper chromatography (KKt), and compound isolation using preparative paper chromatography. The isolates were tested for purity using one-way and two-way KKt, and they were identified using UV-Vis spectrophotometry with a shear reagent. The results: The results of the characterization showed that the water content was 7.21%, the water-soluble extract was 11.21%, the ethanol-soluble extract was 9.23%, the total ash content was 1.99%, and the acid-insoluble ash content was 0.81%. The screening findings indicated the presence of flavonoid chemicals. The KKt analysis results revealed that the best mobile phase was 5% acetic acid with ammonia vapor specks, and the preparative KKt isolation results yielded a single blue isolate, which was then identified by UV-Vis spectrophotometry using a shear reagent, resulting in maximum wavelength absorption (max) at band II of 253nm, presumably identifying the isoflavone group of flavonoids. Conclusion: The conclusion showed the ethyl acetate fraction of spider lily leaves could be separated using paper chromatography and that identification by spectrophotometry UV-Vis using a shear reagent wasolate, which was assumed to be an isoflavone group component.

Abstract

The avocado peel contains flavonoids, saponins, tannins, steroids, and glycosides and has antimicrobial properties. Staphylococcus aureus is a gram-positive bacteria and typical skin microorganism that causes acne. It produces lipase, which breaks down free fatty acids from skin lipids. The gel preparation was chosen. It is better used in treating acne because it does not contain oil or affect acne. This study aimed to determine whether the ethanol extract of avocado peel can be used as an anti-acne gel and to choose the inhibitory power of the gel preparation against Staphylococcus aureus. The ethanol extract of avocado peel was prepared using the percolation method; the extract was formulated into anti-acne gel with 10%, 20%, and 30%. Then, a physical evaluation of the preparation was carried out by assessing organoleptic, homogeneity, pH, viscosity, adhesion, spreadability, irritation, skin moisture, and syneresis. Then, the activity of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria was tested on gel preparations. The result is that the ethanol extract of avocado peel can be formulated into gel preparation. It has a distinctive aroma, is homogeneous, has a pH range of 6,2-6,9, has a value of viscosity, spreadability, and good adhesion, does not irritate, can moisturize the skin, and does not cause syneresis. The gel preparation had antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus, namely a concentration of 10% inhibition of 14.56 mm, 20% inhibition of 19.46 mm, and 30% inhibition of 21.2%, so the interpretation of the inhibition zone was included in the susceptible category.

Abstract

Cancer is the growth or swelling of a mass of abnormal, uncontrolled and malignant cells. With the formation of these blood vessels, antiangiogenesis is needed because without a blood supply, cancer cells will die. The kebiul seed plant (Caesalpinia bonduc (L) Roxb.) contains secondary metabolites as anticancer. This research uses experimental methods, namely making N-Hexane extracts and fractions, Phytochemical Tests, and Antiangiogenesis Tests. The yield of kebiul seeds was 13.608%. In the phytochemical test, the n-hexane fraction of kebiul seeds gave positive results for alkaloids, flavonoids, triterpenoids and tannins. In the blank paper disc group, paper discs with DMSO solvent and paper discs induced by bFGF the average score was 0 (not active). The N-Hexane fraction with a concentration of 02 mg/ml is the most active and has the greatest and best antiangiogenesis effect with an average score of 1.66 (Good), at a concentration of 0.1 mg/ml with an average score of 1.33 (good) and at a concentration of 0.05 mg/ml with an average score of 0.83 (weak). Macroscopic observations showed that kebiul seed extract inhibited the growth of new blood vessels in the bFGF-induced CAM of chicken embryos depending on the concentration given.
