Abstract

This study addresses the continued reliance on lecture-based instruction in Islamic Religious Education (IRE) in rural elementary schools and emphasizes the need for more interactive approaches. Using a descriptive qualitative case-study design, data were collected through classroom observations, in-depth interviews with teachers, principals, and students, as well as documentation analysis. The findings show that teachers have implemented cooperative learning models such as Think-Pair-Share (TPS), Jigsaw, Numbered Heads Together (NHT), and structured group discussions, which effectively increased student engagement, improved understanding of religious concepts, and enhanced students’ confidence in expressing their opinions. Students’ responses were generally positive, indicating that cooperative learning supports active participation and the development of Islamic social attitudes. Challenges encountered include limited instructional time, varied student characteristics, insufficient teacher training, and inadequate learning facilities, which were addressed through clearer role distribution, the selection of simpler cooperative models, and principal-supported initiatives such as policy adjustments and training plans. Overall, cooperative learning strategies are proven effective in improving the quality of IRE instruction, with implications for developing more interactive, contextual, and character-building learning in elementary schools

Abstract

This research discusses the "Cultivation of Religious Moderation Values through the Ngidang Tradition in Kelurahan 1 Ulu Palembang." Amid growing religious exclusivism and cultural erosion, this study addresses the lack of scholarly attention on how local traditions can serve as a medium for promoting religious moderation. The Ngidang tradition is explored as a cultural approach to instill religious moderation through local arts in Palembang, specifically in 1 Ulu Village. The research focuses on how Majelis Ta’lim An Nur utilizes this tradition to cultivate values such as I'tidal (fairness), Tasamuh (tolerance), Asy-Syura (deliberation), I'tiraf al-'Urf (cultural appreciation), and Al-Qudwah (leadership). Employing a qualitative method, data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using Miles and Huberman's interactive model. The findings reveal that the Ngidang tradition remains preserved and actively practiced by the local community, supported by economic motives and government initiatives. However, challenges persist, including social prestige, limited cultural awareness, and economic constraints. This research makes a theoretical contribution to the discourse on integrating indigenous culture in fostering religious moderation, emphasizing its relevance in contemporary pluralistic societies.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the multicultural education values contained in the Islamic Religious Education and Ethics textbooks for grade XI of Senior High School/Vocational School. Using a Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) approach, the research focuses on the representation of multicultural values in both textual and visual content. Data were collected through literature review and documentation, while the analysis involved three stages: description, interpretation, and explanation. The primary data source is the 2021 first edition of the Islamic Religious Education and Ethics textbook published by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology. The findings reveal that the textbook incorporates values such as tolerance, equality, justice, democracy, and humanism, which are represented through 289 textual narratives and 105 visual illustrations. CDA also shows that these values are reflected in subchapters covering Islamic insights, inspirational stories, character development, and reflections. The analysis of visuals further illustrates multicultural discourses related to equality, humanism, democracy, and tolerance in educational and social contexts. The study concludes that the textbook can serve as a vital tool in promoting multicultural awareness and building student character. It also offers valuable insights for textbook authors, educators, and policymakers to create more inclusive and culturally responsive educational materials in response to Indonesia's pluralistic society.

Abstract

In the current era, every educational institution is expected to implement innovations to prepare students with quality human resources. One effort that can be made is to create and innovate within classroom learning processes. This study aims to determine the effect of applying Teams Games Tournament (TGT)-type cooperative learning assisted by Wordwall on student learning activity. The research method used is a quasi-experimental design with the Nonequivalent Control Group Design model. The population and sample consisted of all third-grade students at SDIT Al Ghazali, Palangka Raya. Data were collected using test techniques, including pretests and posttests. The data analysis techniques used include calculating mean scores, testing data normality and homogeneity, and performing a two-sample t-test (Assuming Unequal Variance). The results show that the average pretest score of the experimental class was 61.17 with a standard deviation of 17.09, while the average posttest score increased to 89.70 with a standard deviation of 10.22. Based on the hypothesis test using the Welch test, the obtained p-value was 0.00467, which is smaller than the significance level of 0.05. It indicates a significant difference between the two sample groups, with the posttest average being higher. Additionally, an 82.35% increase in student learning activity was recorded. Therefore, the implementation of TGT-type cooperative learning, assisted by Wordwall, significantly enhances the learning activities of grade III students at SDIT Al Ghazali Palangka Raya.

Abstract

Islamic boarding school education in Indonesia plays a crucial role in shaping the religious values and character of students. One of the traditional teaching methods still in use today is the bandongan method, which relies on the oral teaching of yellow books (kitab kuning) by kiai to santri (students). Although it has been practiced for centuries, the relevance of this method in the context of modern education, which demands interactive and technology-based learning, remains a topic that warrants further study. This research aims to analyze the implementation of the bandongan method at Jamsaren Islamic Boarding School, Surakarta, by exploring its implementation, identifying factors that influence it, and providing a comprehensive overview of the learning conditions at the boarding school. This research employs a qualitative approach, utilizing field research methods and a case study design. Research subjects include ustadz (teachers) and santri, with data collection techniques through in-depth interviews, direct observation, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The research results show that the bandongan method remains effective in conveying religious teachings authoritatively and preserving the scholarly tradition of pesantren, despite limited interaction between teachers and santri. To address 21st-century educational challenges, pesantren are advised to conduct learning innovations by integrating technology and more participatory approaches. This research is expected to make a significant contribution to the development of traditional learning methods that remain adaptable and relevant to contemporary needs

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the internal and external efficiency of educational institutions through the Value for Money approach at SDN Jombor, Jumo District, Temanggung Regency. Value for money serves as a performance evaluation model that focuses on three leading indicators: economy, efficiency, and effectiveness in managing educational resources. This research employs a qualitative approach, utilizing a case study method. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation, and analyzed descriptively. The findings indicate that the school has attempted to implement the principles of economy in budget management, efficiency in the use of human and material resources, and effectiveness in achieving educational objectives. However, several challenges remain, such as the lack of teacher training and limited internal supervision. The novelty of this study lies in its application of the Value for Money framework within the context of public primary schools, a context that is still rarely explored empirically. This research makes a theoretical contribution to the development of value-based evaluation models in educational management and a practical contribution to formulating policies that enhance transparency, accountability, and the quality of education services at the elementary school level.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the Qur'anic learning methods implemented at Rumah Tahsin dan Tahfizh (RTT) Al Birru, Bolon Branch, with a focus on the application of talaqqi and talqin methods. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through interviews, observation, and documentation involving instructors and learners. The study investigates how these methods shape students' learning experiences and memorization outcomes. Findings indicate that the implementation of talaqqi and talqin fosters direct interaction between teachers and learners, ensuring accurate pronunciation and more profound comprehension of Qur'anic verses. In addition, structured repetition and individualized correction contribute to more effective tahsin and tahfizh processes. This study contributes to the academic discourse by presenting empirical evidence of the continued relevance of classical Qur'anic pedagogy in modern non-formal education settings. The results highlight the potential of integrating traditional methods with contemporary learning management to enhance engagement and retention. It is recommended that further research explore comparative effectiveness across different institutions, as well as the integration of digital tools to support classical approaches. The study affirms that contextually adapted traditional methods remain effective in producing meaningful Qur’anic literacy among learners.

Abstract

The low learning motivation of students in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) subjects has become an important concern because it directly impacts learning achievement and student engagement in the classroom. This research aims to reveal students' perceptions of parental social support and school climate in shaping their learning motivation in PAI subjects. The approach used is qualitative descriptive with data collection techniques through interviews and questionnaires. Participants consisted of students, parents, and PAI teachers at SMA Negeri 1 Sewon Bantul. Data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The research results indicate that parental support is primarily in the form of emotional and spiritual support, such as providing encouragement, offering prayers, and providing learning facilities at home, rather than direct academic assistance. The religious, conducive school climate, supported by teachers' enjoyable approaches, also strengthens students' learning motivation. In conclusion, students' learning motivation is formed through collaboration between internal drive and external environment, particularly from family and school. This research highlights the importance of continuous collaboration between parents and schools in creating a supportive learning environment that motivates students in PAI learning
