Abstract

Anoxygenic Photosynthetic Bacteria (APB) has beneficial properties including as probiotic candidates, biofertilizers, bioremediation agents, and can reduce H2S concentrations in waters. However, the APB also has a weakness, slow growth. It is known that the interaction of metal ions and the exposure of magnetic fields increases enzyme activity and growth rates. The aim of this study is to determine the effect of metal ions and the exposure to magnetic fields on APB growth. The APB isolate, AM which is isolated from mangrove roots and tested for its effects on metal ions in seawater complete (SWC) media. The metal ions tested were Cu, Pb, Al and Fe with different concentrations. The metal ion is exposed to a 0.2 mT magnetic field for 10 minutes before being added to the media. The cell count results showed that both metal ions exposed and unexposed to magnetic field did not affect the growth of APB AM isolates. However, the metal ion in SWC media affects the spectra pattern of AM APB isolates.

Abstract

Intensive shrimp culture has encountered many problems, such as declining water quality through disease caused by pathogenic microbes, which affected mortality. This study aimed to determine any potential probiotic from Bacillus sp. collected from mangrove in East Lampung, which could be used to improve the cultured shrimps' proteolytic and probiotic activity. This is a descriptive research with sampling and data collection of bacteria from many samples of mangrove. Result shows 128 isolates Bacillus from which then it has arrived at five potential probiotic Bacillus sp. The study five Bacillus sp. has been isolated with potential properties for probiotic (KPP212, IP121, UJ131, UJ132, SB141). Each isolate has characteristics with proteolytic property, growth in a wide range of pH 4–10 and osmotic stress (0–6% NaCl), non-pathogenic, ability for glucose fermentation, non-motile, and has negative catalase activity. The five potential Bacillus sp. can be used as probiotics for shrimp farming.

Abstract

Geographically, it is located in a strategic urban area with quite rapid development, both in terms of infrastructure development and population growth. The heterogeneous composition of its population, both in terms of education level, livelihood, and cultural background, provides both potential and challenges in efforts to create an empowered community and actively participate in sustainable environmental management. In general, most residents of Nginden Jangkungan Village work in the informal sector, such as street vendors, rental services, grocery stores, and transportation services. This is exacerbated by the community's limited technical knowledge regarding waste management based on the principles of reduce, reuse, recycle (3R), as well as the absence of an integrated and sustainable empowerment model. The implementation method of this Community Service activity is designed with a participatory and collaborative approach, prioritizing synergy between academics, the village government, community groups, and beneficiary residents. Nginden Jangkungan Village has adequate social and institutional potential to implement a civil society empowerment program in sustainable environmental management. However, this area still faces serious challenges related to the management of household liquid waste, which has not been handled optimally, so it has the potential to pollute groundwater and waterways and cause environmental health impacts.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the influence of Person Job Fit and Person Organizational Fit on Organizational Citizenship Behavior through Job Satisfaction as an Intervening Variable at the Directors' Office of PT Perkebunan Nusantara IV Regional I Medan, both directly and indirectly. This research used a quantitative approach with a sample size of 86 people. A questionnaire was used for data collection in this research. The data analysis technique uses Partial Least Square - Structural Equestion Model (PLS-SEM), which aims to conduct path analysis using latent variables. The research results show that Person Job Fit has an effect on Organisational Citizenship Behaviour, Person Organisational Fit affects Organisational Citizenship Behaviour, and Person Job Fit has no effect on Job Satisfaction. Personal Organizational Fit influences employee job satisfaction. Job satisfaction influences employee Organizational Citizenship Behavior. Person Job Fit does not affect Organizational Citizenship Behavior through PT Employee Job Satisfaction. Perkebunan Nusantara IV Regional I Medan. Abstract

Infectious diseases are a significant public health issue in both developed and developing countries. Infectious diseases are caused by the bacteria Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli, which cause high rates of morbidity and mortality. Treatment of infectious diseases caused by pathogenic bacteria generally uses antibiotics, but the continuous use of antibiotics can have side effects such as the occurrence of antibiotic resistance.  Diplazium esculentum is one of the medicinal plants that is often used to treat infectious diseases.  The content of secondary metabolite compounds contained in D. esculentum includes saponins, steroids, alkaloids, tannins, glycosides, triterpenoids, phenols, flavones, and flavonoids.  This study aims to determine the effect of bacteriostatic activity of ethanol extract of D. esculentum and its effective concentration in inhibiting the growth of pathogens S. aureus and E. coli.  The study was conducted using a Randomised Complete Block Design (RAKL) with four concentrations of ethanol extract of vegetable fern, namely 20%, 33%, 43%, and 50%.  As a positive control, the antibiotic chloramphenicol was used and the negative control used sterile distilled water.  Data in the form of inhibition zone diameter formed from each treatment were analysed using Kruskal Wallis non-parametric test and continued with Mann Whitney Post Hoc test.  The results of the study showed that the concentration of ethanol extract of D. esculentum showed bacteriostatic activity against S. aureus bacteria at concentrations of 43% and 50% with inhibition zones of 6.52 mm and 5.55 mm, as well as E. coli bacteria at concentrations of 43% and 50% with inhibition zones of 5.11 mm and 4.37 mm, but was not effective in inhibiting the growth of S. aureus and E. coli bacteria.

Abstract

Pesantren is a religious and educational organization that develops students' independence while preserving and spreading the Islamic faith. In rural areas, pesantren also function as (traditional) social institutions. Pesantren is a non-formal educational organization established from, for, and by the community along with the spread of Islam in the archipelago. Pondok Pesantren Sabilul Hasan Genggong Probolinggo is a religious institution with a strong learning base in Islamic principles. The pesantren applies basic punishment as the main upbringing in improving themselves. The purpose of applying Qanan Asasi punishment is to form santri discipline and to enforce the rules in the pesantren environment. The character and personality of the santri are formed through this punishment so that they become religiously observant, have commendable values, and have the provisions to face obstacles in the future. Santris are taught to comply with religious standards and pesantren regulations through the use of Qanun Asasi punishment, which seeks to have a deterrent effect and teach responsibility. In addition, this punishment tries to prevent bad behavior such as rule violations, juvenile delinquency, and activities that contradict Islamic principles. This study used qualitative research methods with 3 related research subjects. The research data were collected through observation, interview and documentation techniques with data processing methods to analyze the data. Data collection is done by data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions from the data obtained/verification. The sanctions applied in this pesantren are in the form of Qanun Asasi provisions and direct caregiver policies, which have been adjusted to three categories of violations, namely: mild, moderate and severe.
