Abstract

Education character has become an important issue in the world of education lately, with the increasing and varied phenomena of moral decadence occurring in society and in government circles, especially among students. The government pays less attention to fostering education character. The government is more focused on continuous curriculum reform. This condition will get worse if the government, parents and schools or madrasah receive less serious attention. Sufistic education character is an important approach to be applied to overcome these moral decadency phenomena. Therefore, this study aims to provide alternative solutions in realizing children's education character both in the family environment, school environment and social environment. In addition, in this study the author offers several concepts of education character with the Sufistic character of al-Ghazali as in the book of Mohajul Abidin: first, preserving the eyes. Second, maintain the ears. Third, take care of the mouth. Fourth, maintain the stomach. Keywords: Biography of Al-Ghazali, Sufistic Education character in the book Minhajul Abidin

Abstract

This study focuses on the challenges and efforts of community empowerment in reducing stunting rates through the Canting Gula Mojo Program in Mojokerto City. The primary issues addressed include the high prevalence of stunting in certain areas with diverse socioeconomic conditions, limited access to nutritional resources, and low awareness among families regarding the importance of proper childcare and balanced nutrition. Drawing on Jim Ife's (1997) theory of community empowerment, this research analyzes how the provision of resources, opportunities, knowledge, and skills can enhance community capabilities in addressing these challenges. The program aims to empower the community through education, distribution of nutritional resources, and capacity building for health cadres to achieve sustainable stunting reduction targets. This study employs a qualitative research method, utilizing primary data from in-depth interviews with policymakers, health cadres, and beneficiaries, alongside secondary data from official reports by the Mojokerto City Health Office. The findings reveal that the Canting Gula Mojo Program increased community participation by up to 85% in 2023, with 80% of the target audience improving their understanding of the importance of balanced nutrition. Furthermore, the program successfully reduced stunting rates to 2.26% in the same year, marking a significant decrease compared to previous years. This achievement was facilitated by providing skill training to health cadres, distributing high-protein foods, and monitoring children's growth using anthropometric kits. The study concludes that community empowerment through the Canting Gula Mojo Program is not only effective in enhancing individual and community capacities but also serves as an impactful innovation in stunting prevention efforts. Nevertheless, challenges such as budget constraints, access disparities, and the need for more detailed data mapping continue to influence program implementation. Consequently, this research recommends strengthening cross-sectoral collaboration, more targeted budget allocation, and optimizing technology for data mapping and equitable resource distribution. The program's framework can also be adapted and replicated in other regions to align with the national strategy of achieving "zero new stunting" by 2024.

Abstract

Quranic education plays a central role in shaping the Islamic character of students, but traditional approaches often fail to integrate values and critical understanding. This study aims to design Quranic learning based on the Herbartian method, known for its systematic and holistic instructional structure. The research employs library research methodology, with data derived from primary and secondary literature on the Herbartian method and Islamic education. The findings indicate that the application of the Herbartian method, consisting of five stages (preparation, presentation, association, generalization, and application), enables the integration of Quranic values into a systematic and applicable learning process. Implementation in Islamic educational institutions in Indonesia demonstrates improved comprehension, active participation, and the internalization of Quranic values by students. However, challenges such as limited teaching time and teacher competence need to be addressed through training and curriculum adjustments. This study implies the development of a more structured Quranic learning model that aligns with modern educational challenges while strengthening the integration of Western educational theories with Islamic values. The originality of this research lies in adapting the Herbartian method within the context of Islamic education, an area rarely explored, and its contribution to value-based Quranic learning.
