Abstract

This study aims to develop an Interactive Culture-Based Electronic Student Worksheet (E-LKPD) for Riau to improve argumentative writing skills in elementary schools. The research used the Research and Development (R&D) method with the 4-D model (Define, Design, Development, Disseminate). The results showed that the interactive E-LKPD developed was highly valid with an average score of 96.24% and was very practical for use by teachers (93.64%) and students (87.8%). This E-LKPD is also able to increase learning motivation, understanding of argumentative text structure, and critical and creative thinking skills. The integration of Riau culture, which includes traditional houses and Malay ornaments, makes learning more contextual, meaningful, and brings students closer to real experiences. Additionally, the E-LKPD serves as a medium for preserving local culture while supporting the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum. Therefore, the interactive E-LKPD based on Riau culture is recommended as an innovative learning medium alternative that supports active and independent learning in teaching argumentative text writing at the elementary school level.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the existence of students who were less active, less focused, and lacked confidence during the learning process, indicating the need for effective teaching skills to improve students’ learning motivation. This study aimed to determine the relationship between teachers’ teaching skills and students’ learning motivation in Indonesian language learning for fourth grade students at SDIT Raudhaturrahmah Pekanbaru. This research used a qualitative approach with a descriptive research type. The subjects of this study consisted of one fourth-grade teacher and 23 students of class IV Al-Malik. Data were collected through observation, questionnaires, and interviews conducted over five meetings. The data were analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing using triangulation techniques. The results showed that the teacher had implemented eight basic teaching skills during the learning process, with the most dominant skills being reinforcement, variation, explaining, and classroom management skills. Students’ learning motivation showed fairly good results, with the most dominant indicators being appreciation in learning, interesting learning activities, and a conducive learning atmosphere. The findings also revealed that teachers’ teaching skills had a relationship with students’ learning motivation, indicating that teachers’ teaching skills play an important role in improving students’ learning motivation during the learning process.

Abstract

This study aims to explore ethnomathematics in the Tabuik culture of Pariaman and its relation to mathematics learning in elementary schools. Tabuik is a cultural tradition of the Pariaman community, West Sumatra, which contains philosophical values and mathematical concepts in its architectural forms and cultural processions. This research used a qualitative approach with an ethnographic method. The research subjects consisted of traditional leaders, Tabuik craftsmen, community leaders, the Pariaman City Tourism and Culture Office, and elementary school teachers. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results showed that the Tabuik culture contains various ethnomathematical activities such as counting, measuring, determining direction and location, and designing structures. In addition, several mathematical concepts were identified, including triangles, trapezoids, rectangles, semicircles, cylinders, blocks, and hemispheres. These concepts are closely related to geometry learning in elementary schools. The findings indicate that the Tabuik culture can be used as a contextual and meaningful learning resource to help students understand mathematical concepts while preserving local culture. Therefore, ethnomathematics-based learning can support more meaningful mathematics learning in elementary schools.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a Local Wisdom-Based Student Worksheet (LKPD) for Indonesian language learning to improve reading comprehension skills of fourth grade elementary school students. This research used the Research and Development (R&D) method with the 4D model consisting of define, design, develop, and disseminate stages. The subjects of this study were fourth grade students of SDN 009 Baturijal Hilir. Data collection techniques were conducted through expert validation questionnaires, teacher and student response questionnaires, and reading comprehension tests using pretest and posttest. The developed product integrates local wisdom content from the Peranap area, such as the story of the origin of Peranap and Masjid Raja, into reading comprehension materials. The validation results showed that the developed LKPD obtained an average score of 98.5% from material experts, 97.05% from media experts, and 77.5% from language experts, indicating that the product is highly valid and feasible. The practicality test showed that the one-to-one trial obtained a score of 93.75%, limited trials obtained 88.81%, and teacher responses reached 95.83%, all categorized as very practical. Furthermore, the effectiveness test using N-Gain analysis obtained an average score of 0.74 in the high category, indicating a significant improvement in students' reading comprehension skills after using the LKPD. Therefore, the local wisdom-based LKPD developed is considered valid, practical, and effective for improving reading comprehension skills of fourth grade elementary school students.
