Abstract

This study was aimed at provide information on hard coral distribution in southern Siladen Island. The work was done using SCUBA gear Line Intercept Transect (LIT). Thirty m long-line transects were placed at the reef flat, 5 m depth, 10 m depth, 15 m depth, and 20 m depth. A total of 44 hard coral genera was recorded, and the highest number of genre was found at 5 m depth. Coral species diversity was also high enough at the reef flat (1.032) and 5 m depth (1.28). Coral reef condition at 10 m depth was good enough as well and categorized as productive due to much higher percent of the biotic component than the abiotic component. The dominant life forms consisted of tabulate Acropora and branching corals at the reef flat, encrusting corals, branching corals, and foliose corals at 5 m, encrusting corals at 10 and 20 m depth, and massive corals, encrusting corals, and branching corals at 15 m depth, respectively. Keywords: coral reef, distribution, LIT, vertical zonationl.   Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menyediakan informasi tentang distribusi karang batu di sebelah selatan pulau Siladen. Penelitian ini dilakukan menggunakan alat selam SCUBA dan metode transek intersep garis. Tali transek sepanjang 30 m diletakkan di rataan terumbu, kedalaman 5, 10, 15, dan 20 m. Total 44 genera karang batu ditemukan pada penelitian ini, dan jumlah genera terbanyak ditemukan pada kedalaman 5 m. Keanekaragaman spesies karang juga cukup tinggi di daerah rataan terumbu (1,032) and 5m (1,28). Kondisi terumbu karang pada kedalaman 10 m juga cukup baik dan dikategorikan produktif karena tingginya komponen biotik dibandingkan dengan komponen abiotik. Bentuk pertumbuhan yang dominan masing-masing terdiri dari Acropora meja dan karang bercabang di rataan terumbu karang, karang encrusting, karang bercabang, dan foliose pada kedalaman 5 m, karang encrusting pada kedalaman 10 dan 20m, serta karang masif, karang encrusting dan karang bercabang pada kedalaman 15m.   Kata kunci: Terumbu karang, distribusi, Transek Intersep Garis, Zonasi vertikal.

Abstract

Ascidians are marine invertebrates that have been classified with the subphylum Urochordata (Tunicata). These organisms are very important because they contribute a lot to the stability of the marine ecosystem. This study aims to determine the species composition, density, ecological index (diversity, uniformity, dominance), distribution patterns, and substrate occupied by Ascidian. Data were collected at Mike’s Point Bunaken waters at two depths 7 m and 14 m. The method used a direct observation along the 50 m and 2 m width belt transect. In this study, the transect was applied parallel to the coastline at each depth, where 3 replications were performed. The results show  26 species consisting of 13 species at a depth of 7 m and 22 species at a depth of 14 m were identified. The average density of each species was  0.05 ind/m2 at both depths. Diversity Index of 1.76 at 7 m depth and 2.24 at 14 m depth was determined. Uniformity Index was 0.68 at 7 m depth and 0.73 at 14 m depth. Dominant Index of 0.67 at 7 m depth and 0.88 at 14 m depth was also determined. The distribution pattern of species was dominated by uniform distribution, and the substrate most commonly occupied by Ascidianns was dead coral overgrown with algae.Keywords: Ascidian, composition and density, ecological index, distribution pattern, substrate  AbstrakAscidian adalah Avertebrata laut yang termasuk dalam subfilum Urochordata (Tunicata). Organisme ini sangat penting karena mereka banyak berkontribusi pada stabilitas ekosistem laut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan komposisi spesies, kepadatan, indeks ekologi (keanekaragaman, keseragaman, dominasi), pola distribusi, dan substrat yang ditempati oleh Ascidian. Data dikumpulkan di Perairan Mike's Point Bunaken pada dua kedalaman 7 m dan 14 m. Metode yang digunakan adalah pengamatan langsung sepanjang transek sabuk 50 m dan lebar 2 m. Transek dipasang sejajar dengan garis pantai dan pada setiap kedalaman.  Pengambilan data  dilakukan 3 ulangan. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah  ditemukan  26 spesies yang terdiri dari 13 spesies pada kedalaman 7 m dan 22 spesies pada kedalaman 14 m. Kepadatan total Ascidian pada kedalaman 7 m (0,67 ind/m2) dan pada kedalaman 14 m (1.11 ind/m2). Indeks Keanekaragaman adalah 1,76 pada kedalaman 7 m dan 2,24 pada kedalaman 14 m. Indeks Keseragaman adalah 0,68 pada kedalaman 7 m dan 0,73 pada kedalaman 14 m. Indeks Dominansi 0,67 pada kedalaman 7 m dan 0,88 pada kedalaman 14 m. Pola distribusi spesies didominasi oleh pola distribusi yang seragam, dan substrat yang paling umum ditempati oleh Ascidian adalah karang mati yang ditumbuhi alga.Kata Kunci: Ascidian, komposisi dan kepadatan, indeks ekologi, pola sebaran, substrat

Abstract

Echinoderms are one of the main components of marine biodiversity that play an important role in ecosystem function. The purpose of this study to determine the diversity, abudance,dominance, frequency and important value index of the phylum Echinoderm.The method use in this research was cruising method and the quadratic transect method. The results of this study on intertidal zone of Molas obtained as a whole includes four classes, namely Asteroidea, Echinoidea, Ophiuroidea and Holothuroidea with a total of 12 species. Based on data analysis used the quadratic transect method, it was obtained: at station I H' = 1.666, the highest species abundance index is Protoreaster nodosus at 1.133 ind/m2 and relative at 40.48%, C = 0.245 and the highest relative dominance of P. nodusus was 66.90%, the highest species frequency index is P. nodusus of 0.467 and a relative of 33.33% and the highest important value index is P. nodusus of 140.71% while at station II it is obtained H' = 1,384, The highest species abundance index is Diadema setosum at 3.067 ind/m2 and relative 55.42%, C = 0.359 and the highest relative dominance is D. setosum at 85.63%, the highest species frequency index is P. nodusus at 0.4 and relative at 27. 27% and the highest important value index of D. setosum was 159.23%.Keywords: Echinoderms, Diversity, Abundance, Dominance, Frequency, Important Value Index

Abstract

Everyone has different activities with different risks and often gets injured. Since wound healing process takes time, better handling and alternative medicinal administration are needed to accelerate the health recovery from trauma caused either by sharp or hard materials.  Fish are high nutritive food enriched with minerals, fat, and protein. This study was intended to know the effect of snakehead fish extract on the healing process of white rat (Rattus novergicus). It applied an experimental method with 3 treatments. Results showed that fish pudding added with the snakehead fish extract gave good effect on the acceleration of wound healing process in the white rat.

Abstract

Coastal areas have a wealth of biological natural resources including marine life such as crustaceans. One of the marine organisms in the crustacean group is the crab. The purpose of this study was to identify the types of crabs that live in rocky coastal habitats through a morphological approach. To determine the morphology of crabs can be done by looking at the shape, color, and size. The results of this study found 3 types of crabs in two locations in the Manado Bay area including the crab is Grapsus albolineatus, Ozius truncatus, and Uca (Galasimus) tetragonon. Based on the results of the research above, morphological forms were found on the abdomen in the form of a tapered triangle which indicated that the crab was male and the abdomen was triangular with the female sex. The most common crabs found at the study site were female crabs.Keywords: Coastal Area; Crab; Morphology AbstrakWilayah pesisir memiliki kekayaan sumber daya alam hayati diantaranya biota laut seperti krustasea. Salah satu organisme laut dalam golongan krustasea adalah kepiting. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi jenis kepiting yang hidup di habitat pantai pesisir berbatu melalui pendekatan morfologi. Untuk mengetahui morfologi pada kepiting dapat dilakukan dengan melihat bentuk, warna serta ukuran. Hasil penelitian ini menemukan 3 jenis spesies kepiting pada dua lokasi yang berada di daerah Teluk Manado diantaranya kepiting Grapsus albolineatus Ozius truncatus dan Uca (Galasimus) tetragonon. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diatas maka ditemukan bentuk morfologis pada bagian abdomen berbentuk segitiga meruncing yang menunjukkan bahwa kepiting tersebut berkelamin jantan dan abdomen berbentuk segitiga melebar merupakan kepiting dengan jenis kelamin betina. Kepiting yang paling banyak ditemukan pada lokasi penelitian adalah kepiting betina.  Kata Kunci: Wilayah Pesisir; Kepiting; Morfologi

Abstract

This study aims to determine the length-weight relationship, growth patterns, and gonadal index of juvenile bluestripe snapper Lutjanus kasmira. Samples were collected using a hand line with a hook numbered  3 and a monofilament fishing line numbered 80. Sampling activities were carried out on July 26th – August 4th, August 26th - September 4th, and October 10th, 2020. A total of 70 fish, 22 females and 48 males was caught. Female length distribution ranged from 104 to 150 mm with a weight range of 18.19-55.87 g, while male length ranged from 107 to 150 mm in length with a weight of 19.00-57.00 g. The length-weight relationship was indicated with W= 0.0177L2.9344 (R2=0,7816) for males and W = 0.012L3.0817 (R2=0,8976) for females with isometric growth pattern. The length-weight relationship for combined sexes was W= 0.0156L2.9816 (R2=0,8186) with an isometric growth pattern. The gonadal maturity for all samples was at immature and developing stages. The gonadal index in female snapper at immature was 0.16 and developing was 0.41, whereas the male gonadal maturity index at immature was 0.14 and developing was 0.38.Keywords: Lutjanus kasmira; length-weight; gonad maturity; gonadal indexAbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan panjang berat, pola pertumbuhan dan indeks  gonad  ikan kakap Lutjanus kasmira. Sampel ikan ditangkap menggunakan pancing ulur mata pancing nomor  3 dan tali monofilament nomor 80. Aktivitas pengambilan sampel dilakukan masing-masing pada 26 Juli-4 Agustus, 26 Agustus-4 September 2020, dan 10 Oktober 2020. Sebanyak 70 individu sampel diperoleh, 22 betina dan 48 jantan. Sebaran ukuran panjang ikan betina  104-150 mm dan berat 18,19-55,87 g. Sebaran ukuran panjang ikan jantan 107-150 mm dan berat 19,00-57,00 g.     Hubungan panjang-berat diperoleh W= 0,0177L2,9344 (R2=0,7816) untuk jantan dan W = 0,012L3,0817 (R2=0,8976) untuk betina dengan pola pertumbuhan isometrik. Gabungan ikan kakap jantan dan betina diperoleh W= 0,0156L2,9816 (R2=0,8186)  dengan pola pertumbuhan isometrik. Tingkat kematangan gonad  (TKG) terhadap seluruh sampel baik jantan maupun betina berada pada TKG I (belum matang) dan TKG II (berkembang). Indeks  gonad pada ikan kakap betina pada TKG I sebesar 0,16 dan TKG II sebesar 0,41. Indeks kematangan gonad ikan kakap jantan pada TKG I sebesar 0,14 dan TKG II sebesar 0,38.Kata Kunci: Lutjanus kasmira, panjang-berat, kematangan gonad, indeks gonad

Abstract

AbstractThis study aims to determine the relationship between length and weight and condition factors of Siganus lineatus around Kareko waters, Lembeh Strait. Sampling was carried out in March 2021 from fishermen's catch using net fishing gear. There were 31 individuals collected with a length range of 169.95-345.69 mm and a weight range of 94-939 grams. The relationship between length and weight of male (b= 0.3018), female (b= 0.3631) and total (b= 0.3287) showed a negative allometric growth pattern. Mean condition factors of the male, female and total were 0.106, 0.075, and 0.091, indicating that rabbitfish are in poor condition.Keywords: rabbitfish; allometric; fishermen.AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan panjang berat dan faktor kondisi Siganus lineatus di perairan sekitar Kelurahan Kareko, Selat Lembeh. Pengambilan sampel sepanjang bulan Maret 2021 dari  hasil tangkapan nelayan yang menggunakan alat tangkap jaring. Jumlah ikan yang terkumpul sebanyak 31 individu dengan kisaran panjang 169,95-345,69 mm dan berat 94-939 gram. Hubungan panjang berat ikan beronang jantan (b= 0,3018), betina (b= 0,3631) dan total (b= 0,3287) menunjukkan pola pertumbuhan alometrik negatif. Faktor kondisi rata-rata ikan beronang jantan, betina dan total yaitu 0,106, 0,075 dan 0,091, hal ini menunjukkan ikan beronang dalam kondisi kurang baik karena memiliki nilai kurang dari satu.Kata kunci : ikan beronang; alometrik; nelayan.

Abstract

Coral reef is an ecosystem built by calcium-producing marine biota, especially corals. One of the reef-building corals (hermatypic) is Faviidae that is distributed in almost all territories of Indonesia. This study was carried out in the reef flat of Bahowo, Tongkaina, Manado. Data collections used the sampling method with quadrat. There were 6 genera of Faviidae recorded in this study, Favia, Favites, Goniastrea, Leptoria, Montastrea, and Platygyra with clumped distribution patterns.Keywords: hermatypic; genera; ecosystem; quadrat. AbstrakTerumbu karang merupakan ekosistem yang dibangun oleh biota laut penghasil kapur, terutama oleh hewan karang. Salah satu karang pembentuk terumbu (hermatipik) adalah karang batu Faviidae yang memiliki penyebaran hampir di seluruh wilayah Indonesia. Penelitian ini dilakukan di rataan terumbu Bahowo, kelurahan Tongkaina, kota Manado. Berdasarkan hasil pencatatan data dengan menggunakan metode sampling kuadrat yang kemudian diolah dan dianalisis secara statistik dengan menggunakan perangkat lunak (MS Excel) diperoleh 6 genera karang batu Faviidae, yaitu Favia, Favites, Goniastrea, Leptoria, Montastrea, dan Platygyra dengan pola distribusi yang mengelompok.Kata kunci: hermatipik; ekosistem; genera; kuadrat.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the composition and condition of coral reefs in Dudepo Cape, South Bolaang Mongondow Regency. The method used is Line Intercept Transect (LIT). Data were collected by SCUBA diving at 3 meters and 10 meters depths. In 3 meters depth was found biotic components such as Acropora and non-Acropora with 6 growth forms, and five other biotic components, while abiotic components were only found in coral rubbles (R). In 10 meter depth was found biotic components live coral with 7 growth forms, and five other biotic components, while the abiotic components as sand and coral rubbles. In two depths, the coral reef component dominant were Acropora digitate (ACD) and Acropora branching (ACB). The condition of coral reefs at 3-meter depth and 10 meters were  “Fair”  with the percent cover of live corals being 35.59% and 37.30%.Keywords: Coral; Coral Reef; ConditionAbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui komposisi dan kondisi terumbu karang di Tanjung Dudepo Kabupaten Bolaang Mongondow Selatan. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu Line Intercept Transect (LIT). Pengambilan data dilakukan dengan penyelaman SCUBA pada kedalaman 3 meter dan 10 meter. Pada kedalaman 3 meter ditemukan komponen biotik berupa karang hidup acropora dan non-acropora dengan 6 bentuk pertumbuhan, dan 5 komponen biotik lainnya, sedangkan komponen abiotik hanya ditemukan berupa pecahan karang. Pada kedalaman 10 meter ditemukan komponen biotik berupa karang hidup dengan 7 bentuk pertumbuhan, dan 5 komponen biotik lainnya, sedangkan komponen abiotik berupa pasir dan pecahan karang. Pada dua kedalaman, bentuk pertumbuhan yang mendominasi yaitu acropora digitate dan acropora branching. Kondisi terumbu karang pada lokasi penelitian khususnya pada kedalaman 3 meter dan 10 meter yaitu berada pada kategori cukup dengan persentase tutupan sebesar 35,59% dan 37,30%. Kata kunci: Karang; Terumbu Karang; Kondisi.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the distribution and the diversity of ascidians in Manado Bay including species composition, density, diversity, and dominance. This study used the quadrat transect method. This study found differences in the number of ascidian species with water depth, 11 species of 5 families at 15 M depth, and 8 species of 3 families at 7 M depth. The diversity index ranged from 0.868 to 1.844 at 15 M depth and 0.965 to 1.864 at 7 M depth, the evenness index was 0.533 – 0.839 at 15 M depth and 0.600 – 0.897 at 7 M depth, the dominance index was 0.254 – 0.745 at 15 M depth and 0.254 – 0.708 at 7 M depth. Ascidian in Manado Bay had two distribution patterns, a uniform distribution pattern and a clustered distribution pattern. Environmental parameters had a water temperature of 27 oC – 31 oC, the salinity of 30 0/00 – 32 0/00, the brightness of 12 m – 14 m, and pH of 8 – 10.*Keywords: Ascidian; diversity; ecological index; distribution patternAbstrakTujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui distribusi dan keanekaragaman jenis ascidia di perairan Teluk Manado meliputi: komposisi jenis, kepadatan individu, keanekaragaman, dan dominansi. Serta mengetahui pola distribusi ascidia. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode transek kuadran. Pada penelitian ini ditemukan perbedaan jumlah spesies ascidia menurut kedalaman, 11 spesies dari 5 family pada 15 M dan 8 spesies dari 3 famili pada kedalaman 7 m. Nilai indeks keanekaragaman ascidia di kedalaman 15 m = 0.868 – 1.844 dan 7 m = 0.965 - 1.864, indeks keseragaman 15 m = 0.533 – 0.839 dan 7 m = 0.600 – 0.897, indeks Dominasi15 m = 0.254 – 0.745 dan 7 m = 0.254 – 0.708.
