Abstract

The high potential for renewable energy in the North Sumatra region, especially the coast of the Belawan area, needs to be exploited properly. The design that will be carried out is to explore the potential in coastal areas by simulating microgrid systems and hybrid system-based electricity installations. The method that will be used is to find the accuracy of strategic location points by considering the panel surface temperature which will later influence the power output of the power plant. Then find the ideal installation location as a reliable system when irregular climate conditions occur, of course this phenomenon will have a significant effect on energy balance and energy conversion, especially in coastal areas. The potential for installation construction will be carried out with a hybrid system using power sources from photovoltaics, wind turbines and diesel generators assisted by HOMER Pro software. The results of testing with simulations and information data that have been recorded in the software can later be used as a benchmark in planning electrical installations and also for identifying microgrid protection challenges. Then the measurement results that have been obtained for the installation of a hybrid-based microgrid system on Photovoltaic (PV) are DC output power of 618.80 W with measurements of sunny weather conditions, then the potential wind speed on the wind turbine reaches 5 m/s and the potential use of a diesel generator reaches 40% with power output capacity 1 kW.

Abstract

The general properties of waves are refraction, reflection, bending (diffraction), interference and polarization. Sound is a form of wave and is in accordance with the law of wave refraction where waves coming from a less dense medium to a denser medium will be refracted closer to the normal line or vice versa. Sound waves easily experience diffraction because sound waves in air have wavelengths of around several centimeters to several meters. Then basically every room, whether you feel it or not, will always have sound. This is inversely proportional to light which has a wavelength of around 500 mm. Therefore, an interference reduction system using a passive bandpass interference filter on the podcast microphone is necessary to reduce interference. Test results carried out by filters used to reduce noise using Passive Band Pass. the waveform is still the original spectrum at 0 Hz – 120 Hz, the original sound conditions and does not cause interference, but interference occurs and filtering Category (Noise %) 10 – 40 low - 98 – 99 high.

Abstract

The development of queuing systems in hospitals continues to be developed to optimally support patient service, especially regional general hospitals (RSUD). This is because the manual system is still inefficient, resulting in patients queuing for a long time and conflicts often occur. Based on these problems, a Web system was designed with the support of the Fifo algorithm so that the queuing system becomes simpler and more optimal. An easier and more flexible queuing system will support better and more excellent hospital services. Implementation of the Fifo Algorithm, designed to determine and calculate the patient queue system and orderly service for patient registration at the hospital. The implementation of this automatic queuing application will have an impact on health services, especially at Dr. Djasamen Saragih, Pematang Siantar city. The results of using a web-based application in this hospital have an impact in making it easier for operators or admins to queue up calls for patient serial numbers. The operating system on the website is monitored. If the web status has a data result of 1, the patient has been called by admin, but if the patient has not been called, the monitoring site is in Web with value 0 or null.

Abstract

This paper describes the optimization of energy conversion when solar radiation occurs at peak power conditions, namely at 11.00 am to 2.00 pm where the position of the sun is parallel to the layout of the PV Rooftop installation. The panels used are 5 units with the type of polycrystalline with a capacity of 1 panel unit consisting of 250 Wp. The position of the panels installed on the roof of the Andalas University building is based on an angle of 90o degrees with a position of ±255m above sea level. The advantages obtained when placed on the roof of the building are due to the minimal impact of shadow effects and environmental disturbances. Data retrieval using DC current and voltage sensors is then connected to the Arduino Uno microcontroller which is then interfaced in graphic form. Considerations in the installation of PV by reviewing the weather conditions at that time where the conditions were sunny and the air was clean with the aim that the performance when solar radiation entered the solar cells could be produced more optimally. Based on the data obtained at peak power, PV can convert DC power to 972.56 Wp. In the final stage of collecting data recorded on this PC, it can later be used as a reference for installing solar panels for household electricity scales in the West Sumatra region.

Abstract

In this study, an analysis was conducted on a steam power plant system with a capacity of 2 x 7 MW based on coal. The coal fuel used by the majority of refined sizes is not in accordance with the recommendations of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). The main objective of the study was to analyze the system components separately and to measure the exergy value of the components, covering the electrical energy so that it is known which equipment experiences the greatest energy loss as well as knowing the efficiency value of the equipment used. Efficiency and exergy are calculated using plant operation data. The results of the study found that the largest exergy destruction occurred in boilers, meaning that there was the largest energy loss in this section with a value of 37.34 MW (16.71%), while the destruction of the smallest exergy occurred in condensers of 0.58 MW (99.24%).

Abstract

Photovoltaic (PV) installations and wind turbines that are installed on the rooftops of buildings need to be protected because the layout is in a high position and there is a risk of being struck by lightning. Therefore, a more effective protection system is designed to anticipate electronic damage and fire on all materials in the distribution network, especially the addition of PV and wind turbine installations on building roofs. The purpose of this study is to simulate a lightning protection system on the distribution network and the results of on-grid PV energy conversion using electrical transient analyzer program (ETAP) software. Feeder relay delay times and cascade coordination patterns between outgoing and incoming relays do not overlap. the delay time of the relay working on the feeder is 0.31 s and the coordination pattern of the outgoing relay and incoming relay does not touch each other, so the delay time for the incoming relay is 2.73 s. Then testing the results of PV energy conversion connected to the grid using MATLAB Simulink monitoring obtained data reaching 1.600 Wp at peak power with sun conditions parallel to the PV installation layout.

Abstract

This research investigates the problem of Cu-Zn electrode batteries with NaCl electrolyte. Previous studies have indicated problems with the electrolyte and electrodes after charging, such as turbidity and deposits in the electrolyte, as well as corrosion on the electrodes. Consequently, the battery can only be used once due to a decline in its electrical characteristics after the initial charging. Through this research, improvements were made to the electrical characteristics of the battery by adding Na-EDTA to enhance usage efficiency. The research method involved mixing NaCl solution with the highest electrical conductivity, using six pairs of Cu-Zn electrodes arranged in series. The physical conditions of the electrolyte and electrodes were observed, and electrical characteristics were measured. The research results indicate that the use of NaCl+Na-EDTA electrolyte produces a battery voltage of 4.20 volts with a current of 2 Ah and can be used twice. Charging with solar panels can be done in 1 hour, but the frequency is limited to two times.

Abstract

Stand-alone photovoltaic system or PV is a power generation technology with potential that is environmentally friendly and also one of the solutions for saving high electricity rates today. However, problems that often occur due to weather fluctuations that are always changing, especially North Sumatra, Indonesia result in the conversion produced by solar cells not being optimal. Therefore, it is necessary to do a new model with a dual tracker system and the development of accelerator motor actuators so that the resulting energy conversion is more optimal. The result of optimizing the reliability of the polycrystalline type solar panel which is designed with an additional photovoltaic tracker system to maximize the conversion of solar energy to solar panels is to obtain an output power of 303.72 volts DC and 267.52 volts DC in the position where the tracker is not used. Then the percentage increase in energy reached 29.80%. Dual axis tracker technology is able to maximize energy conversion in improving PV usage performance. The implementation of a stand-alone PV system will be beneficial if the installation is in Indonesian territory, especially in disadvantaged, frontier and outermost areas.

Abstract

The North Sumatra region is an area with the potential for earthquakes originating from volcanic and oceanic eruptions which have resulted in many fatalities. Therefore, through the application of automatic monitoring and control system technology connected to the internet of things (IoTs), it is the right solution to provide efforts to increase security for residents of the house to always be vigilant. The security enhancement method referred to in this study is a home security system protection system by anticipating earthquakes. The advantage of this tool is that it applies a notification security system method with a sensitivity sensor which is automatically sent via email and sonor buzzer which also acts as sound vibrations due to an earthquake. The test results show that when a vibration occurs, the system will send a short email message to the user's smartphone so that the user will receive an email in the form of a warning message that the state of the house has an earthquake and the light-emitting diode (LED) interrupts and the buzzer is also on so that the alarm sounds which has been integrated into IoT. Then an integrated security monitoring system using the web can be monitored in real time.
