Abstract

Abstract: Piasa Wetan Village, located in Susukan District, Banjarnegara Regency, Central Java, has great potential for cultivating high-anthocyanin rice, supported by a favorable environment. However, limited knowledge and skills among farmers in organic farming practices and the certification process remain challenges. This community service initiative aims to enhance farmers' skills through comprehensive training that includes organic methods, harvest management, and the importance of certification. The training results showed a significant increase in knowledge, from 7% to 100% after the program's completion. More effective cultivation practices are now being implemented, including the selection of high-quality seeds, optimal land preparation, and more efficient harvest and marketing strategies. Certification is expected to help increase market prices, expand access, and ensure sustainability by enforcing strict organic farming standards. With continued education and improved agricultural techniques, Piasa Wetan Village has the potential to become a leading producer of high-anthocyanin rice in Banjarnegara, ultimately increasing farmers' incomes, supporting food security, and providing health benefits to consumers.

Abstract

Shallots (Allium ascalonicum L.) is a vegetable commodity that contributes greatly to horticultural production and inflantion levels. The use of superior seeds is expected to produce maximum shallot production. The majority of Indonesian farmers use 30% of the harvested tubers as planting material, with production costs being quite expensive. Many shallot farmers also experience several problems with tuber seeds that are hollow and damaged. True Shallot Seeds can be an efficient and profitable altervative planting material. Implementing TSS shallot cultivation is considered difficult and requires longer time for sowing. Soaking seeds using Gibberelin can have a physiological effect on the germination process. Seedling media factor with a certain composition are needed to produce maximum seeds. The experiment was carried out in factorial manner using Random Design Complete  with three replications. The GA3 concentration factor has four treatment levels: G0 = 0 ppm/control, G1 = 2 ppm, G2 = 4 ppm, and G3 = 6 ppm. The seedling media composition factors has four treatment levels: M0 = soil + compost/control (1:1), M1 = cocopeat + compost (1:1), M2 = husk charcoal + compost (1:1), and M3 = sand + compost (1:1). The data analysis used was Analysis of Variance, if there were significant differences between the treatments, a further tes was carried out using Duncan’s Multiple Range Test at the 5% level. The result showed that the interaction between GA3 concentration treatment and seedling media composition and the single factor GA3 concentration had no significant effect on all observed variables. The composition of the seedling media has a significant effect on the speed of seed growth, seed height, root length, and seed wet weight with optimum results for germination and vegetative growth of TSS seeds, namely the compositionof soil+compost/control (M0) seedling media on the variables of seed growth speed (%/etmal), seed height (cm), and seed wet weight (gram).

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to characterize the active compounds in Indonesian local rice that are resistant to environmental stress in order to identify the nature of resistance to environmental stress, one of the indicators of which is the presence of flavonoid compounds. This step is one of the efforts that will lead to the acquisition of gene donors in the assembly of varieties resistant to biotic stress (pests and diseases) and abiotic stress (drought, high salinity, low temperature), which are very necessary in rice breeding programs. The method used is to plant 8 local rice varieties that are resistant to environmental stress in buckets in greenhouses. Next, analyze the content of active compounds by extracting the leaves and stems of rice plants, then macerate with methanol for 48 hours and test the content of active compounds. Then the total flavonoid content test was carried out using a quercetin standard and measured using a spectrophotometer. Whatever the results of this study, all samples showed active compounds containing flavonoids, alkaloids, tannins and saponins which were indicated by indicators of color change when tested with certain reagents. The results of the Flavonoid content analysis showed that the pendok variety had the highest flavonoid content, namely 3.9253 ± 0.06, and the Sigupai variety had the lowest flavonoid content, with a value of 1.8073 ± 0.07.

Abstract

One of the most common stresses in rice cultivation is salinity. Rice plants stressed by salinity exhibit changes such as yellowing leaves, drying tips, and chlorosis. The efforts made by the government and farmers so far include implementing cultivation scheduling techniques, planting patterns, and using stress-resistant varieties, as well as improving soil to increase water-holding capacity through lime application. Each of these efforts comes with its own risks. Another approach to enhance the growth and yield of rice plants is the application of vitamins. Providing vitamins can stimulate the growth of plant organs, as they play a crucial role in the growth process by acting as catalysts for metabolism. Research has indicated that vitamin B1 can significantly promote plant growth under stressful conditions. This study aims to investigate the positive effects of various concentrations of vitamin B1 on the growth and yield of rice plants while also reducing salinity stress. The method used involved planting three varieties of rice—IR-46, Inpari-32, and Pokkali—in planting buckets using the TABELA system. Vitamin B1 was applied at concentrations of 0, 5, and 10 mM during the peak vegetative phase, with salinity stress of 6 dS/m introduced one day after vitamin application. The plants were maintained under salinity stress conditions until harvest, during which morphological and phytochemical analyses were conducted. Morphological analysis included measurements of plant height, number of tillers, number of productive tillers, number of grains per panicle, and percentage of healthy grains. Biochemical parameters measured included total chlorophyll and electrolyte leakage analysis. The results indicate that vitamin B1 can effectively reduce stress in plants affected by salinity.

Abstract

Jember Regency encompasses several plantation areas characterized by diverse ecological conditions, notably the Gumitir, Garahan, and Tancak plantations. Among the flora in these regions, the genus Hoya is notable for its medicinal potential. This study aimed to characterize the diversity of Hoya species, provide detailed morphological documentation, and evaluate the phytochemical and antioxidant properties of a medicinally used species. Field exploration employed a systematic plot-based design consisting of 150 plots (5 × 5 m²) with 3 m spacing. The most vegetatively dominant species, Hoya lacunosa, was subjected to GC–MS phytochemical analysis and DPPH-based antioxidant evaluation. A total of eleven Hoya species were recorded across the three plantation sites. The Gumitir plantation exhibited the highest diversity, containing ten species., i.e. Hoya burtoniae, H. camphorifolia, H. carnosa, H. cinnamomifolia, H. dennisii, H. fuscomarginata, H. lacunosa, H. micrantha, H. purpureofusca, and two unidentified Hoya spp. In contrast, the Garahan plantation supported only H. dennisii and H. fuscomarginata, while H. lacunosa was exclusively found in Tancak indicating a highly localized distribution. GC-MS profiling on H. lacunosa leaves revealed 26 compounds, comprising 16 secondary metabolites (12 phenolics, 2 alkaloids, and 2 terpenes) and 5 primary metabolites. The methanol extract exhibited strong antioxidant activity (IC₅₀ = 50.89 ppm), reflecting its potential as a natural source of bioactive compounds. These findings demonstrate substantial Hoya diversity in Jember Regency and underscore the potential of H. lacunosa as a valuable source of bioactive metabolites for pharmaceutical development.
