Abstract

Occupational Contact Dermatitis (OCD) is a contact dermatitis disease obtained from work, due to the interaction between the skin and substances used in the work environment. These substances irritate the skin, causing damage and stimulating inflammatory reactions, so that skin irritation is the most common cause of dermatitis. Therefore, to find out and understand more deeply about occupational contact dermatitis, especially in hairdressers, it is felt necessary to conduct a study on the factors that influence the incidence of occupational contact dermatitis in salon employees. The purpose of this study was to analyze the factors that influence the incidence of OCD in salon workers in Lamongan District. This research method is qualitative with a cross-sectional design and this research instrument uses the Simple Random Sampling technique and the Slovin formula. The results of this study were processed using the Multiple Logistic Regression statistical test which obtained a p-value <0.05, which means that there is an influence between the length of contact (p-value 0.044) and personal hygiene (p-value 0.033) with the incidence of OCD. There is a significant relationship between contact duration and personal hygiene with the incidence of DKAK among salon workers in Lamongan District. Suggestions for Improvements include conducting regular education, ensuring the presence of supervisors at all work activities, and collaborating with local community health centers regarding periodic skin examinations.

Abstract

The presence of cockroach and rat vectors on ships is an indication of the crew's lack of attention to ship health efforts. The purpose of this study was to analyze the difference between the skipper's leadership type and the level of ship health risk in Tanjung Perak Port, Surabaya, East Java. The research design was a cross-sectional survey with an observation approach. The population was all crew members of 1,164 domestic ship arrivals at Tanjung Perak Port Surabaya-East Java in March 2023 totaling 23,073 crew members. The sample size of 298 respondents was taken with Simple Random Sampling. The instruments used were a questionnaire sheet about the skipper's leadership a supervision checklist sheet for vector inspection and BPP about the level of ship health risk. Analysis with Fisher's Exact Test. The results showed that the skipper's leadership type was mostly democratic, namely 223 people or 74.8%. The level of ship health risk is almost absent of public health risk factors, namely 280 ships or 94.0%. Fisher's Exact Test showed p=0.000<0.05. The conclusion is that there is a difference between the skipper's leadership type and the level of ship health risk. The interests of the crew by trying to create a more open relationship can increase and maximise the implementation of ship sanitation. Further research by examining other factors related to the level of ship health risks that have not been studied in this study accompanied by in-depth interviews with all crew members so that the research results are more objective.

Abstract

Abstract

Kata kunci: Perilaku K3,  Safety Induction,  Sektor Energi   Safety behavior plays a critical role in preventing workplace accidents; however, unsafe practices persist at PT X in the energy sector despite a relatively high safety induction pass rate. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between safety induction implementation and occupational safety and health (OSH) behavior among operational and maintenance workers. A cross-sectional study design was employed involving 148 workers selected through simple random sampling. Data were collected using structured questionnaires and documentation, and analyzed using the chi-square test. The results indicated that 38.5% of workers did not pass the safety induction, and 35.8% exhibited unsafe behavior. A statistically significant association was observed between safety induction and OSH behavior (p = 0.013; OR = 2.549), indicating that workers who failed the safety induction were 2.5 times more likely to engage in unsafe behavior. These findings underscore the importance of safety induction in enhancing safety knowledge, safety climate, and safety motivation, in accordance with Lawrence Green’s PRECEDE–PROCEED Model and the World Health Organization (WHO) behavior change framework. It can be concluded that participatory safety induction, supported by strong managerial reinforcement, has the potential to improve consistency in safe behavior. This study contributes novel insights by integrating Green’s theoretical model and the WHO behavior change strategy to explain the mechanism underlying the relationship between safety induction and safety behavior, as well as by utilizing safety induction pass status as an objective indicator of program effectiveness—an approach that is rarely applied in occupational safety research within high-risk energy sectors.
