Abstract

This study aims to analyze the strategic role of differentiated learning management in developing teacher competencies. Employing a literature review methodology, this study examines and synthesizes various relevant scholarly sources addressing the concept of differentiated learning management and its connection with enhancing teachers' competencies. The findings reveal that the implementation of differentiated learning management—encompassing planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating learning focused on meeting diverse student needs (through differentiation of content, process, and product based on readiness, interests, and learning profiles)—significantly challenges and sharpens teachers' pedagogical and professional competencies. This process encourages teachers to be more innovative in instructional design, effective in managing heterogeneous classrooms, and adaptive to curriculum demands. It is concluded that differentiated learning management is a crucial and effective approach for the sustainable improvement of teachers' competencies, thus fostering an inclusive and high-quality learning environment.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze in depth the impact of school zoning policy on education quality in urban areas, focusing on the dynamics and challenges that arise in its implementation. The zoning policy, which was designed to realize equal access to education and reduce gaps between schools, has triggered significant changes in the education system. This study uses an extended qualitative descriptive approach, combining secondary data analysis from academic journals, government reports, and credible media, with multi-level discourse and policy analysis techniques to gain a comprehensive understanding. The results show that the zoning system has had a significant impact on equal access to education and student inclusiveness, but is still faced with various complex challenges such as inequality in school quality, community resistance, and unequal distribution of resources. Positive impacts identified include increasing student diversity, equal distribution of educational resources, and increasing parental involvement in education. However, negative impacts such as inequality in facilities between schools, difficulties in curriculum adaptation, and community dissatisfaction also emerged as important issues that need to be addressed. This study emphasizes the urgency of a comprehensive and integrated implementation strategy, which includes improving the quality of schools as a whole, equalizing the distribution of quality teachers, and effectively disseminating policies to all stakeholders. In addition, strong coordination between stakeholders is needed, including the government, schools, parents, and the community, as well as changing public perceptions about superior schools. The study, that zoning policies have great potential in realizing equal distribution of quality education if balanced with efforts to improve the quality of schools that are sustainable and targeted implementation strategies.   Keywords: School Zoning Policy, Education Quality, Urban Areas

Abstract

Education is a fundamental element in the development of adaptive and competitive human resources, especially in the midst of globalization and rapid technological advances. To realize equal access and quality of education, the Indonesian government has implemented a zoning system policy, which aims to reduce the gap between schools. However, the implementation of this policy has raised new challenges, such as inequality in student academic input and a decline in quality in leading schools. On the other hand, student learning achievement is also influenced by internal psychological factors, including resilience in dealing with pressure and self-efficacy, namely students' belief in their academic abilities. This study aims to analyze the effect of the zoning system, student resilience, and self-efficacy on the learning achievement of junior high school students in Gresik Regency. This study uses a quantitative approach with an explanatory survey method. The population in this study were all grade VIII students at Junior High Schools in Gresik Regency, with a sample size of 250 students selected through proportional random sampling techniques. The research instrument was a Likert Scale questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability. The data were analyzed using multiple linear regression techniques to determine the partial and simultaneous effects between variables. The results of this study are expected to provide empirical contributions to zoning policies based on student characteristics, as well as support the development of psychopedagogical interventions to improve learning achievement evenly and fairly.
