Abstract

Public relations has evolved into a strategic imperative for educational institutions in managing reputation and stakeholder trust. However, research on public relations strategies in elementary schools, particularly in resource-constrained contexts, remains limited. This qualitative descriptive study examined public relations strategies at UPT SD Negeri 229 Gresik, Indonesia. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with school principals, public relations coordinators, teachers, and parent representatives, complemented by participant observation and documentary analysis. The Miles and Huberman interactive model guided data analysis, with trustworthiness ensured through triangulation and member checking. Findings revealed five interconnected strategies: operational strategy emphasizing community-based familial approaches; persuasive-educational strategy employing multi-channel digital platforms achieving 78% Instagram engagement; social responsibility strategy demonstrating tangible community impact through 200+ trees planted and 150+ families assisted; collaborative strategy ensuring meaningful stakeholder participation; and coordinative-interactive strategy positioning the school within broader educational networks. These strategies collectively build positive school image by integrating cultural responsiveness with contemporary digital communication, extending public relations theory to elementary education contexts while providing actionable models for administrators navigating transparency and accountability demands in increasingly connected environments.

Abstract

This study investigates the influence of principals’ leadership and the work climate on teachers’ performance, with work motivation positioned as a mediating factor. A quantitative research design was applied through a survey approach. The study involved kindergarten teachers in the North Bekasi District, with 77 respondents selected using purposive sampling. Data collection was carried out using a Likert-scale questionnaire, and the data were analyzed through Partial Least Square–Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The findings reveal that the work climate has a positive and significant impact on teachers’ performance, whereas principals’ leadership does not show a significant effect on teachers’ performance or work motivation. In addition, the work climate does not significantly affect work motivation. Work motivation, however, has a positive and significant influence on teachers’ performance, although it does not function as a mediator in the relationship between principals’ leadership and teachers’ performance, nor between the work climate and teachers’ performance. Overall, the results indicate that teachers’ performance is more strongly shaped by a supportive work environment and the level of teachers’ motivation. Consequently, efforts to improve teachers’ performance and enhance educational quality should prioritize the creation of a positive work climate and the strengthening of teachers’ work motivation.

Abstract

Teacher well-being is a crucial determinant of educational quality, yet many educators particularly those working abroad. They face challenges that compromise their physical and psychological health. This community engagement program (PKM) conducted by Universitas Negeri Surabaya (Unesa) at Sekolah Indonesia Makkah (SIM), Saudi Arabia, aimed to enhance teacher wellness through integrated fitness and counselling training. Using a hybrid model that combined online lectures and offline practice, 23 teachers participated in structured physical exercise sessions, health education, and guidance and counselling workshops. Baseline assessments indicated that 78% of participants rarely engaged in exercise and 65% were dissatisfied with their physical condition. Post-intervention data revealed substantial improvements: 87% of teachers began exercising weekly, reported higher energy and motivation levels, and demonstrated greater awareness of wellness in teaching. Counselling competence also improved markedly, with 90% of participants able to apply preventive and developmental guidance strategies in classrooms. Qualitative feedback emphasized increased collegiality, emotional resilience, and a stronger sense of community, culminating in the establishment of a Teacher Fitness Club as a sustainable outcome. The study concludes that integrating physical and psychological well-being training strengthens teachers’ professional capacity, fosters holistic education, and exemplifies the transformative role of universities in global community partnership.
