Abstract

This research aimed to develop contextual-based handouts on reaction rate material with valid, viable, and interesting responses used as teaching materials in the learning process. The development model used in this study is the Borg and Gall models. The validity of the handout developed is divided into two validity of material and media by 84.1% and 93% respectively. Responses from 6 teachers and responses based on the questionnaire given were 91.17% and 90.77%. Handout developed is applied in the learning process with a total of 20 learners using pretest and posttest. Data obtained by researchers using the N-gain formula to find out the improvement of cognitive learning after giving treatment with the number of N-gain scores is 0.513. Based on the hypothesis test with the t-test on the known output sig (2-tailed) = 0.000 < 0.005 then Ho was rejected, meaning there was a significant difference in learning outcomes before and after using contextually based handouts. Based on the data above it was concluded that the results of contextual-based handout development research can be declared valid, feasible, and the response is interesting and can improve the cognitive learning

Abstract

This study aims to determine how the influence of the POGIL model on the ability of the science process and scientific literacy of students, in addition to knowing how the MFI model affects science process skills and scientific literacy of students and the comparison of POGIL and MFI models on science process skills and scientific literacy of Lhokseumawe City Junior High School students. This research uses an approach to quantitative research. The population of this research is the seventh-grade students of SMP in Lhokseumawe city. The research sample taken is SMPN students Arun, SMPN 1 Lhokseumawe, and SMPN 2 Lhokseumawe every 3 schools that consist of 2 experimental classes (POGIL and MFI models) and 1 control class (conventional) with a total of 9 classes. The research instrument used is a test question for knowing students' literacy skills, practicum guide sheets, and observation sheets to determine students' science process skills. In the class with the POGIL model, the average value of scientific literacy ability is 32.27, and science process skills are 81.32. In class with the MFI model, the average value of science literacy skills is 26.84, and process skills science 88.71. While the control class has an average value of scientific literacy ability of 12.77 and science process skills of 68.54. Based on Test Test output Statistics data of students' scientific literacy and science process skills are known as the value of asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) of 0.00 < 0.05, it can be concluded that the POGIL model has a significant effect on students' scientific literacy and science process skills.  The results for the MFI class scores of students' scientific literacy skills and science process skills, because of the Asymp value. Sig. (0.000) < (0.05) so that learning with the MFI model affects the scientific literacy ability and science process skills of students. Classes taught with POGIL and MFI models with Asymp grades. Sig. (0.099 > (0.05) means that there is no significant difference in students' scientific literacy skills between students who are taught with the POGIL model and students who are taught with the MFI model but there is a significant difference in science process skills of students with POGIL and MFI models, where the MFI model students' science process skills higher than the POGIL model

Abstract

The numeracy ability of students in Indonesia is in a low category based on PISA results from 2000 to 2018. So, efforts are needed to strengthen numeracy skills through the development of ethnoscience-based numeracy test instruments. The purpose of this study was to analyze the characteristics of the ethnoscience-based numeracy test instrument using the Rasch model.  The subjects of this study were students of SMPN Arun and SMPS Sukma Bangsa, Lhokseumawe City, totaling 123 students. The number of questions to be analyzed in the test is 68 items. Analysis using Winsteps software. The results of the analysis showed that the ethnoscience-based numeration instrument in this study was declared reliable. 59 of the 68 items were said to be valid, with details of 32 valid items eligible to be used and 27 valid items needing to be revised for improvement before being used. This instrument can be used to measure subjects who have ethnoscience-based numeracy skills in the low, medium, and high categories, so to examine ethnoscience-based numeracy skills students can use this instrument.

Abstract

The development of science, technology, and society requires humans to have skills beyond literacy and numeracy that are needed to survive. Scientific literacy is the focus of learning in the 21st century. Currently, the scientific literacy index of students in Indonesia is still low. Chemistry is a part of science. Chemical literacy is the ability of students to identify, analyze, and process chemical concepts to solve everyday problems and communicate scientifically the chemical phenomena that occur around them. Colloidal material in chemistry learning has some abstract concepts close to everyday life. So the purpose of this study was to determine the chemical literacy ability of students on colloidal material in North Aceh and Lhokseumawe. The subjects of this study were 217 students of class XII, in SMA North Aceh and Lhokseumawe. The instrument used in this study is a chemical literacy question in the form of a description consisting of 8 PISA standard chemical literacy questions. The result of this research is that the highest student answers are on the literacy scale with nominal criteria, while the lowest is multidimensional criteria. According to the distribution of chemical literacy scores in the Aceh region, the highest was in the medium-grade category with 142 students, and the lowest was in the high-grade category with 14 students.

Abstract

The ineffectiveness of teaching materials is characterized by the complexity of the language for the chemistry textbooks and to maximize the goals of the 2013 curriculum which is the background for be developed of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) based modules on thermochemistry subject at SMA Negeri 2 Banda Aceh. The purpose of this researching was to develop teaching material products in order to fixed the problems that found in SMA Negeri 2 Banda Aceh by looking at the validity of the products developed through expert validator assessments and seeing feedback from the responses of teachers and students. Type of this research is development research using the ADDIE model as a research design. The instruments used in this development research were interview sheets, validation sheets, teacher response questionnaire sheets, and student response questionnaire sheets. After processing the data on the validation sheet, the total percentage validation average score is 90.3%, so it is included in the very valid category. The results of the teacher's response were included in the very good category, namely 85.3%, as well as the results of the responses obtained from the responses of 28 students, namely 92.7%. The research conclusion interpreted from the results of data processing obtained is that the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) based module on thermochemical material developed at SMA Negeri 2 Banda Aceh is very valid and very good to use.

Abstract

The purpose of this activity is to introduce SPSS software to students in the form of the benefits of SPSS software, how to install SPSS software and ways to operate SPSS software from prerequisite testing to hypothesis testing in educational research.  The stages of this activity consist of the preparation stage, the implementation stage, and the evaluation stage. The results achieved in the in outline students are able to understand the concepts, theories, and functions of SPSS, and students were able to perform data processing using the SPSS application. The conclusion from the results of this service is that students can understand concepts related to SPSS and how to do data analysis. Student response to activities is good. With a percentage level of understanding of the material at 72.5%, motivation at 77.5%, time allocation at 70.5% with good criteria, and an assessment of the speaker's performance at 86% with very good criteria.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze student environmental literacy from the aspect of physical and ecological systems, social, cultural, and political systems, environmental Issues, multiple solutions to environmental issues, and citizen participation and action strategies. The research subjects were 70 students of chemistry education and physics education at Malikussaleh University which is taught by learning Project Based Learning (PjBL) integrated with STEM. Research results in the overall average environmental literacy ability of students are 74 by category good, there are 14 students with very good environmental literacy skills, 50 students in the good category, and 6 students in the sufficient category. If viewed from environmental literacy indicators obtain the average value of students who answer correctly different questions, namely physical and ecological systems by 80%, social, cultural, and political systems by 70%, environmental issues by 68.1%, multiple solutions to environmental issues of 58.58%, and citizen participation and action strategies namely 86.1%.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui apakah strategi pembelajaran inkuiri dan strategi pembelajaran berbasis masalah dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa pada materi larutan penyangga, serta mengetahui strategi pembelajaran yang paling baik digunakan untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa. Penelitian bersifat eksperimen, populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa SMA di Kabupaten Nagan Raya dari populasi dipilih sampel penelitian dengan purposive sampling. sampel penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XI IPA di SMAN 1 Darul Makmur sebanyak 2 kelas eksperimen yaitu kelas pertama diajarkan dengan strategi pembelajaran inkuiri, kelas kedua menggunakan strategi berbasis masalah, materi pelajaran yang akan diteliti yaitu larutan penyangga. Untuk melakukan uji hipotesis ini digunakan uji-t. Dalam pengujian hipotesis ini data yang digunakan adalah data gain hasil belajar siswa dalam pembelajaran. Nilai sig. 0,004 Hipotesis diterima karena harga sig. < α (0.05) bearti Ha diterima dengan kata lain penerapan strategi pembelajaran berbasis masalah dan inkuiri dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa pada materi larutan penyangga. Dengan memperhatikan harga rata-rata yang paling besar, maka strategi pembelajaran tersebut yang paling efektif untuk meningkat hasil belajar siswa. Strategi pembelajaran yang paling efektif untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa adalah strategi pembelajaran berbasis masalah.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui jenis dan penyebab kesalahan yang dilakukan peserta didik dalam menyelesaikan soal berbasis literasi sains menggunakan Newman’s Error Analysis (NEA) pada materi gerak parabola. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan menggunakan metode tes tertulis dan wawancara. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data, dapat disimpulkan bahwa jenis kesalahan yang dilakukan peserta didik saat menyelesaikan soal yaitu kesalahan memahami soal sebanyak 53%, kesalahan mentransformasikan sebanyak 35%, kesalahan keterampilan proses sebanyak 18%, dan kesalahan penulisan jawaban akhir sebanyak 33%. Adapun penyebab peserta didik melakukan kesalahan yaitu kurangnya ketelitian peserta didik pada saat menuliskan informasi penting pada soal, rendahnya pemahaman peserta didik dalam menalar dan memahami kalimat pada soal, peserta didik terburu-buru sehingga tidak lengkap menuliskan rumus, kurangnya ketelitian dan kehati-hatian peserta didik pada saat melakukan proses perhitungan, peserta didik tidak terbiasa menuliskan satuan pada akhir jawaban. Adapun solusi untuk meminimalkan atau menghindari kesalahan adalah peserta didik hendaknya lebih berhati-hati dan teliti ketika membaca soal, peserta didik mengalokasikan waktu secara bijak sehingga tidak terburu-buru menyelesaikan soal, peserta didik harus lebih fokus dan berkonsentrasi saat melakukan proses perhitungan, dan memeriksa kembali jawaban agar tidak terjadi kesalahan dalam penyelesaian soal.

Abstract

Penelitian pengembangan ini dirancang untuk: 1) menghasilkan instrumen penilaian keterampilan 4C (Critical Thinking, Collaboration, Communication, Creativity) siswa pada materi sifat koligatif larutan 2) mengetahui tingkat kelayakan dan respon guru terhadap instrumen penilaian keterampilan 4C yang mencakup tingkat validitas materi, validitas instrumen, uji coba kelompok kecil dan uji coba kelompok besar. Subjek uji coba dalam penelitian ini yaitu siswa MAN 3 Aceh Utara kelas XII IPA 2 dan 3 dan SMAN 1 Muara Batu kelas XII IPA 1 dan 2. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu Research and development (R&D). Model penelitian yang digunakan yaitu ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, dan Evaluation). Hasil pengembangan instrumen penilaian keterampilan 4C yaitu berupa tes (soal berbasis HOTS) untuk mengukur ranah kognitif dan non tes (unjuk kerja) dengan format check list menggunakan skala likert untuk mengukur ranah afektif dan psikomotorik. Instrumen tes yang dibuat terdiri dari 25 butir soal pilihan ganda dan 2 soal uraian dengan 8 butir anak dari soal uraian. Data hasil validasi ahli materi rata-rata sebasar 86,3%, ahli instrumen rata-rata sebasar 87,3%, dengan pencapaian kriteria sangat layak digunakan. Sedangkan data hasil analisis angket kelayakan rata-rata sebesar 87,8% kategori sangat layak dan respon pendidik 87,7% dengan kategori sangat layak. Hasil uji coba kelompok kecil pada didapatkan hasil validasi dari 33 soal terdapat 2 butir soal tidak valid, nilai r11 = 0,941 soal dikatakan reliabel dengan tingkat kesukaran 19 soal sedang, 14 butir soal mudah, daya pembeda 3 butir sangat baik, 19 butir soal baik, 2 butir soal cukup dan 1 soal kategori jelek. Sedangkan analisis pada kelompok besar didapatkan hasil validasi tidak terdapat soal yang tidak valid, dengan nilai r11 = 0,799 soal dikatakan reliabel. Tingkat kesukaran soal terdapat 18 soal kategori sedang, 7 soal kategori mudah. Daya pembeda dari 25 soal pilihan ganda terdapat 1 butir jelek, 8 soal cukup, 12 soal baik dan 2 soal sangat baik, yang teridiri dari 7 soal mudah dan 18 soal sedang. Sedangkan pada penilaian unjuk kerja didapatkan hasil 1 butir tidak valid dan reliabilitas kategori sedang.
